I dont really think is a topic to laught about... All the brexit could not happen in a worst moment. While it has not been as terrible as I was expecting for myself, and I dont give a flying fxxx if you want to sink your country as long as my job is left alone... i will not stay here forever... but a lot of industries are struggling A LOT to fullfill the positions that have been left vacant by europeans no longer intersted in working here. A lot of lies were said in both sides but the reality is: A lot of NHS staff left leaving the NHS weaker than ever then pandemic hit. Then uk government had to find qualified healthcare staff back in europe... opening borders again for qualified healthcare professionals, having to pay sometimes twice the rates because guess what... most of them were confortably employed in their home country of the 3rd world due the pandemic. Result for the "cheap" europeans that left... pretty pitty for uk government that has spent much more in the pandemic due that. Im struggling to see the benefits of brexit here. Hospitality- My partner manages a 500 people restaurant with about 150 permanent staff. Half of them were foreigners.Guess what. Not enough cheap foreigners have stayed in the country to cover the cheap positions and no brits want to work in thise jobs- the hotel had to shut half of its capacity because there is not enough staff... so the two restaurants and extra facilities that were build to be able to keep the capacity despite the restrictions remain closed. The company is severely struggling to find workforce and making almost impossible to break even now that the restrictions are being lifted and the objectives were huge gains to try to make up the pandemic numbers. This is a countrywide situation. That will eventually lead to a reduction of the customer service standarts but paying twice the original cost for said service. Im struggling to see the benefits of brexit here. Engineering... I dont really know where to start? But... we are really struggling to fill the few positions we have open as our company has the policy of "no sponsorship to be given". Without qualified engineers will be difficult to "make britain great again" if they have to cherry pick the people and pay them stupid money... still struggling to see the benefits of brexit here. Small bussines exports- im sending more kit car parts to spain than ever having to do shady shippings as many companies refuse to send to europe. Way too difficult? Unreliable, goods are held in customs way too often generating huge loses... Even caterham is being affected, let alone smaller specialised companies. A whole market lost. Still struggling to see the bemefits of brexit here.... Im pretty sure there is two sides of the coin as in everything, and some of the above, eventually will get back to some sort of normal, but whoever is fool enough to say "is all good, is the best we could do" i really consider that has a massive problem of general understanding of how the real world works a bit further away than their driveaway...3 points

See? this is precisely a topic I rather avoid in person, and much less with alcohol involved. When I´m writting I´m able to read back and contain myself... barely, but this rarely happens in person 😆 and this is a very sensitive topic for me as it will cost me A LOT of money and will directly impact to my retirement plan. For me has been pretty bad as I will struggle a lot to get a fair treatment when I sell my house and I bring the money back to spain... (cash that originaly came from spain and more than likely now will be taxed)... same with my savings and my future pension. But as you can see, I´ve left my personal situation aside in my previous post... the same I don´t care about the whole of uk as I´ll not be here forever and is a decision you´ve taken, the whole of UK doesn´t care about my personal unfair situation. The fact is that as I say in my last sentence, it must be two sides of the coin... and as I´ve said in my first sentence, I could not care less if is the right or the wrong decision for the country. However, the points I´ve written are facts. Delaying projects of british companies because there is no workers available can´t be a good thing. If a company that owns 8500hotel rooms in uk and could be sold out is only able to sell shy of 5000 because there is no workforce... can´t be a good thing. I know how good has been for my mates that used to work in leighton hospital, left due brexit, and came back earning twice the money... so again its been UK´s loss here (and this is a pretty nationwide situation). I know how much my mates are struggling to get stuff from kitcardirect, MK, Westfield, Caterham, Dunnel... because I do have to bl**** send it to Spain... so... for all the other people that doesn´t have maurici in uk ready to forward stuff and they have to buy in germany, or second hand in france to avoid the burden of dealing with customs or simply because the british company can´t be arsed to deal with it... Can´t be a good thing. I still have not found anybody telling me "mate, thanks to brexit, I´m doing better". It may be a masterplan behind it that is above my understanding... some sort of faith for the greater good or something, but till getting there, if ever, a lot of people will be f***** in the way to it. It sounds to me like the inmigration problem, wasn´t that much of a problem but a solution for the kind of jobs where the brits are to snob to do or there is simply not enough qualified people to do it (same that happens in spain with south americans and north africans not really a shame about it). All the other macro economics behind it, are pure fantasy for me and they have no sense if to achieve them you screw half of the population. Now, I´ll stop talking about the topic. I have avoided to talk about it in the forum or in person for that matter for the last 3 years, and today I was in the mood. I´m now back to stealing jobs, raping brides and eating kids... that is why I came here for in first instance 🤣2 points

There is so much to write in reply, but to be honest Maurici I would prefer to sit in a pub some day and discuss over a pint of English beer!.. I think it is impossible to explain in such a way in an open forum.. and for people who share the love of driving and Westfields to remain friends... because the written word can be misunderstood and then someone will take offence! As proven over the past few years this is a subject that divides people..2 points

Our business is doing very well with both European sales and European shipping, but I really couldn't say whether that's due to Brexit or despite it, or even a side effect of Covid. As time progresses it will be difficult for some businesses to separate the confounded influences.1 point

...the actual significant amount of future cash investment from the taxpayer to get Nissan to build the big factory has not been disclosed, and I’d been surprised if it was in my lifetime. Saying this news proves Brexit was right is like saying you were right to give your wallet to the mugger, but at least you still have your watch. Brexit may, in time, be proved to have been the right decision financially. Or maybe it won’t. But you can’t say yea or nay based on this one thing, because none of us know the whole picture - yet.1 point

Genuine question. Has anyone in their day to day life either personally or professionally seen any benefits yet? Probably hard to tell so soon and with the pandemic. But personally I've only seen downsides, some pretty significant. The big boys like nissan mentioned in the earlier post will always do alright as they are big enough and there will no doubt be a significant incentive from the government to invest here. Please don't include the vaccine rollout as we could/would have gone the same way even if we were still a member.1 point

I’ve put a bulk order in Jon for sunshine on the 1st, 4th, 10th, 16th and 23rd. Personally will be happy if they are dry, however sunshine would be bonus!1 point

what a machine it's a joy to watch and I would cut off my little toe to drive it, the power delivery is mind bending but driveable , That is going to be even faster when he dials it in and gets used to the speed, Top job that1 point

I dont have much to contribute, other than to say a BIG thanks to Julie for encouraging members to get out and use their cars, we didn't do 'the run' our trip to and from the Bird was our run. I had my go pro running so i'm going to try and upload a couple of clips, most of our run was uneventful, just empty roads cos I was leading, so here is our arrival and departure. anyway here goes, I hope it works.1 point

14 cars and 21 people met at Bird Cafe, Hathersage for breakfast Yes, it gets difficult to photograph all the cars and all the people with there being so many of us. We had a great run UP the Mam Nick road for a change. The Mk1 Escorts were going down it today, waving at us. Mam Nick road Cloudy at the top of Mam Nick Off through Tideswell to see a steam engine on it's travels Followed a Lamborghini - Clarkson typeTractor, well it did well going up to 40mph and getting round the corners, didn't think it was interesting enough to photograph though. We headed South as promised and finished at the Roaches Tea Rooms. An excellent place with far reaching views over Tittersworth Reservoir, great homemade cakes and no pressure to leave. Good job as we stayed rather a long time, one bonnet off, then another, it was a great venue. Cars parked anywhere we can here The red devils at the back of the pack parked in the overflow car park Inevitably the cake eating began, in the absence of @Andy Westwood, it was @aeg who got the 'boyish good looks' sized cake You can learn so much more at these meets than on the forum, actually stood over a Westfield while discussing matters with very knowledgable people. You can see a completed supercharged Honda engine, the supercharger buried deep in the engine bay, under the alternator....no, I struggled to see it too, but this lump puts out >400 bhp! Now we all feel a little inferior don't we, me? only 141 bhp! and I am leading! Thanks to new boy @Glynn Andrews for bringing it to show us. More good advice being exchanged between Luke and Hedley if your Toybox car is too low, as they all seem to be. Pray for it to be raised. And more 'Bonnet's Off' Soon the group started to disperse, Bill and Bill Senior leaving And Luke leaving The sun had made an appearence We had all the usual Westfield shenanigans between us, naming no names, somebody didn't pay, somebody left a phone, somebody burnt their leg on the exhaust but there was no takers for my magnet....this time! It's been an absolute ball yet again, it's been great to see you all and we look forward to next time very much XXXXX1 point

Another great day, if a little busy on some of the roads! Realised leaving the Roaches, it’d had been so warm there, with the sun out, I’d never put my coat back on! Was convinced I’d get cold and wet on the way home, but no, a bit overcast, but a nice ride back, still quite busy everywhere though! Think people were trying to make up for all those lockdown cancelled trips, today! Great to see new faces, today, too.1 point

i did not expect less than a week after i started this thread , to say i now know when the last day is. normally every morning he has a wagging tail and full of beans for the day ahead, this morning he looked quite peeved, no wagging tail and took far longer than normal to get to his feet, he was let out for his morning ablutions and then i feed him at that point, he eat just as normal but kept raising one foot at a time, presumably to take the weight off it - lessening the pain. climbing the stairs took twice as long as last week as well. before covid, my vets had a drop in facility, sadly this is no longer operational and having just rung them they are full for today and have very limited staff on a sunday which is for emergencies only. so unless there is a marked improvement, monday is the day sadly. as i have said already, i dont want to go down the pain relief route as that is just prolonging the inevitable, he is almost completely deaf, his eyesight is failing as he often can not see the treat in front of him, despite his nose telling him its there. sorry for posting my ramblings, but living alone i just wanted to document my thoughts. it sort of helps me... thanks all.0 points
