  1. I dont have much to contribute, other than to say a BIG thanks to Julie for encouraging members to get out and use their cars, we didn't do 'the run' our trip to and from the Bird was our run. I had my go pro running so i'm going to try and upload a couple of clips, most of our run was uneventful, just empty roads cos I was leading, so here is our arrival and departure. anyway here goes, I hope it works.

  3. Not been on the forum for a while and just read this thread resurection about your new role in the club. Good luck in this role I have a feeling you will have an easier time than Steve had because in the last couple of years you and Russ with the help of The Cap (Andrew) seem to have built up a regular and growing team of trackdayers from the club. Apart from the small core of trackdayers that had been together for the previous ten years there didn't seem to be a great enthusiasm for trackdays from within makin Steve's job a bit pointless . So in the end we just carried on as a small group (Track Action) While the Cap tried to entice members from time to time. (I think Russ was one of the stragglers he picked up years ago.) So once again good luck, I reckon you are the ideal candidate for the job.

  5. 14 cars and 21 people met at Bird Cafe, Hathersage for breakfast Yes, it gets difficult to photograph all the cars and all the people with there being so many of us. We had a great run UP the Mam Nick road for a change. The Mk1 Escorts were going down it today, waving at us. Mam Nick road Cloudy at the top of Mam Nick Off through Tideswell to see a steam engine on it's travels Followed a Lamborghini - Clarkson typeTractor, well it did well going up to 40mph and getting round the corners, didn't think it was interesting enough to photograph though. We headed South as promised and finished at the Roaches Tea Rooms. An excellent place with far reaching views over Tittersworth Reservoir, great homemade cakes and no pressure to leave. Good job as we stayed rather a long time, one bonnet off, then another, it was a great venue. Cars parked anywhere we can here The red devils at the back of the pack parked in the overflow car park Inevitably the cake eating began, in the absence of @Andy Westwood, it was @aeg who got the 'boyish good looks' sized cake You can learn so much more at these meets than on the forum, actually stood over a Westfield while discussing matters with very knowledgable people. You can see a completed supercharged Honda engine, the supercharger buried deep in the engine bay, under the alternator....no, I struggled to see it too, but this lump puts out >400 bhp! Now we all feel a little inferior don't we, me? only 141 bhp! and I am leading! Thanks to new boy @Glynn Andrews for bringing it to show us. More good advice being exchanged between Luke and Hedley if your Toybox car is too low, as they all seem to be. Pray for it to be raised. And more 'Bonnet's Off' Soon the group started to disperse, Bill and Bill Senior leaving And Luke leaving The sun had made an appearence We had all the usual Westfield shenanigans between us, naming no names, somebody didn't pay, somebody left a phone, somebody burnt their leg on the exhaust but there was no takers for my magnet....this time! It's been an absolute ball yet again, it's been great to see you all and we look forward to next time very much XXXXX

  6. Another great day, if a little busy on some of the roads! Realised leaving the Roaches, itโ€™d had been so warm there, with the sun out, Iโ€™d never put my coat back on! Was convinced Iโ€™d get cold and wet on the way home, but no, a bit overcast, but a nice ride back, still quite busy everywhere though! Think people were trying to make up for all those lockdown cancelled trips, today! Great to see new faces, today, too.

  7. Thereโ€™s no reason to think a GranTurismo will break you - the 4.7 lt. engines in the S version are pretty bullet proof. Starting price for a good one is high twenties. If you ever want Maserati advice, feel free to drop me a line as itโ€™s very much my field (Iโ€™m currently on numbers 19 and 20, a GranSport and a 2-seat MC-Stradale).

  12. I will be looking at options as soon as I can work with tdo on dates. Probably 1 a month through the winter say December to March. Then 2 a month for the rest of the year to give people options. I am also working on a club only day somewhere so watch this space for news on that.

  19. Come on folks letโ€™s have a few more entries to Knockhill please. The SSOT managed to secure this event on the calendar for 2019 and everyone who went will tell you what a great event it is. For those that have not been to this event, it is run completely differently to a standard sprint and is part of the Super Lap Scotland event, meaning it is run like a normal race event. This means we have a time slot to compete in which means the whole thing is run very efficiently. In the days before COVID there would be a few thousand spectators in the grandstands and there is commentary too. The legend racers are there also, and having watched them, itโ€™s worth going to see these nutters race. As is said in my previous post however it also has to be worth Knockhill time to invite our club or we may not be invited back. So come on Westfield sprinters get your entry in.

  20. I like it, but prefer Harry. Many of you will have watched Harryโ€™s Garage on YouTube, but you might not have seen his Harryโ€™s Farm series. Heโ€™s been producing it for a while, and maybe itโ€™s no coincidence that Clarkson is one of his neighbours.

  22. Thanks @Julie Hall - Peak District AO for another fantastic day! It was great to see you all today ๐Ÿ‘ I might have to start saving my pennies for some form of forced induction, I'm feeling all inadequate and having supercharger envy! ๐Ÿ˜‚

  23. John and โ€œKermitโ€ arrived at 8.45 this morning and after a wee conflab we decided it was up to Beauly ( breakfast for the best melba toast with berries bananas, bacon and maple syrup) then up to Ullapool ( fuel) then we stopped at a viewpoint and back on some cracking single track road to Bonar Bridge, and over the Struie to Muir of Ord . Then homeward bound we stopped at the chippie in Forres to discover they did an all day breakfast ๐Ÿ˜‚ then got home at 5.45 A great day out of mixed driving and fantastic scenery, and a big thanks to John for his company and knolage of some cracking roads up north .

  28. OK so a bit of a thread resurrection and to do a bit of an introduction and house keeping. @SteveH used to do a great coordination job on the trackday front for the club and the back office staff for the club feel it may be worth another go/experiment. So from myself putting my hand up earlier in the week, I will now be taking up the role of trackday coordinator/liaison/advisor for the club. This is not to stop/take over any of the current organised events between club members but to try and add further value to a growing group of Westfield club members. I will establish a single point of contact with many of the large Track day organisers and manage where possible the discount code for the club or further discount for large numbers 10+. I would also like to try and get a couple more official club days together, but this will all depend on the members support. I would like to offer support to novices who would like to dip there toe into trackdays, I often see new members say general touring Westfield with a couple of trackdays a year, these are the people i would really like to help. As starting out for your first couple of day would be much easier with the support at the curcuit from other members. Finally I will be the contact for flags, gazebo etc to be booked in and out, that would like to be used at trackdays. It would be great to get some more publicity for the club at these days and hopefully adding a little more off track organisation will help. I will be looking at some dates of days throughout the rest of the year and start the tdo liaison over the next couple of weeks. There is a great core group of friendly track day goers in the club and it has been slowly growing in the last couple of years. A few more would make club only days more viable and the first bonus of that is no clio's to deal with ๐Ÿ˜. Many thanks Simon.
