  1. 14 cars and 21 people met at Bird Cafe, Hathersage for breakfast Yes, it gets difficult to photograph all the cars and all the people with there being so many of us. We had a great run UP the Mam Nick road for a change. The Mk1 Escorts were going down it today, waving at us. Mam Nick road Cloudy at the top of Mam Nick Off through Tideswell to see a steam engine on it's travels Followed a Lamborghini - Clarkson typeTractor, well it did well going up to 40mph and getting round the corners, didn't think it was interesting enough to photograph though. We headed South as promised and finished at the Roaches Tea Rooms. An excellent place with far reaching views over Tittersworth Reservoir, great homemade cakes and no pressure to leave. Good job as we stayed rather a long time, one bonnet off, then another, it was a great venue. Cars parked anywhere we can here The red devils at the back of the pack parked in the overflow car park Inevitably the cake eating began, in the absence of @Andy Westwood, it was @aeg who got the 'boyish good looks' sized cake You can learn so much more at these meets than on the forum, actually stood over a Westfield while discussing matters with very knowledgable people. You can see a completed supercharged Honda engine, the supercharger buried deep in the engine bay, under the alternator....no, I struggled to see it too, but this lump puts out >400 bhp! Now we all feel a little inferior don't we, me? only 141 bhp! and I am leading! Thanks to new boy @Glynn Andrews for bringing it to show us. More good advice being exchanged between Luke and Hedley if your Toybox car is too low, as they all seem to be. Pray for it to be raised. And more 'Bonnet's Off' Soon the group started to disperse, Bill and Bill Senior leaving And Luke leaving The sun had made an appearence We had all the usual Westfield shenanigans between us, naming no names, somebody didn't pay, somebody left a phone, somebody burnt their leg on the exhaust but there was no takers for my magnet....this time! It's been an absolute ball yet again, it's been great to see you all and we look forward to next time very much XXXXX

  3. John and “Kermit” arrived at 8.45 this morning and after a wee conflab we decided it was up to Beauly ( breakfast for the best melba toast with berries bananas, bacon and maple syrup) then up to Ullapool ( fuel) then we stopped at a viewpoint and back on some cracking single track road to Bonar Bridge, and over the Struie to Muir of Ord . Then homeward bound we stopped at the chippie in Forres to discover they did an all day breakfast 😂 then got home at 5.45 A great day out of mixed driving and fantastic scenery, and a big thanks to John for his company and knolage of some cracking roads up north .

  5. Thanks @Julie Hall - Peak District AO for another fantastic day! It was great to see you all today 👍 I might have to start saving my pennies for some form of forced induction, I'm feeling all inadequate and having supercharger envy! 😂

  7. Great run out if a little damp to start with. Nice to get a bit of sunshine at the Roaches as it was pretty grim on the run back to Chesterfield. Thanks Julie for arranging another great day out. Luke.

  9. Another great day, if a little busy on some of the roads! Realised leaving the Roaches, it’d had been so warm there, with the sun out, I’d never put my coat back on! Was convinced I’d get cold and wet on the way home, but no, a bit overcast, but a nice ride back, still quite busy everywhere though! Think people were trying to make up for all those lockdown cancelled trips, today! Great to see new faces, today, too.

  12. Car now SOLD😲 After much soul searching I think it's time to sell - other than a road 7-800 mile road trip last year I have barely used my car other than just a quick blat every now and again and to be honest I have lost my mojo for track days after having done so many and that was primarily was my main interest. Ok so the car is a Westfield Duratec Sport 2000 in chrome yellow - it's been over serviced like so many cars with much more frequent oil changes than required - I have done this myself. The car benefits from a recently reconditioned engine with new crankshaft (span a shell at Rockingham 3-4 years or so ago) and the car has not been used much since (no track days) and just road mileage including last years road trip as mentioned above. Mileage: just over 27 but may increase Upgrades... Northampton Motorsport cam upgrade and swirl pot to prevent fuel sytarvation on track (not been on rolling road but estimated 210bhp) - see invoice in the pictures for £3000 Brake bias valve fitted by NMS at the same time as above When I span a shell at Rockingham I had the engine reconditioned including a new crank and some head work to help with air flow - Oil cooler kit also fitted at this point as a worthwhile preventative measure to help stop future issues - £3400 Raceline sump Huge Simpson race can and manifold which is a real work of art and quiet £1400 Playskool full cage with welded in side bars £900 JK fibreglass seats with pads and carbon fibre inserts including bases on runners - i think these were £600 Carbon mods aero screen £120 Carbon fibre front cycle wings - got these used but paid £150 Willwood front brake calipers and drilled / grooved disks - from memory £500 Quick release steering wheel (245mm steering wheel £120 - it's a bit small to be honest but its been on the car for years) - steering column was sent to Westfield for them to weld the lug - RTQ2 lug £120 plus Westfield to do their bit Three sets of wheels - Minilite type replicas with nearly new 888's which are currently on the car (please note CXR are now on the car) (they only have the road trip mileage and a little bit of extra road mileage on them) Selling with the car but £400 - then a nice set of Compomotive CRX wheels with tyres which look to be about road legal but plenty left for track days £500 - then a crappy set of Alleycats with some very and I mean very old Nankang tyres on £200 - the wheels are rough and the tyres need destroying unless you are doing a drift day V8 bonnet fitted to car and a spare standard bonnet included £200 Carbon fibre dash now fitted - £130 Viscous slippy diff Gell battery fitted in the nosecone £120 My famous towing modification Curved rear view mirror on cage - SPA mirrors central and side £180 Lowered floor - I am 6 foot 2 and fit in just fine Carbon fibre side screens - I think I paid £250 Procomp adjustable shocks/springs and front anti roll bar (not the Westfield one that has been known to damage the chassis / car fully setup and corner weighted by Procomp £1000 Comes complete with windscreen, side screens, wiper motor and washer bottle and can be converted fairly easy for road use - see further down the post for more detail and pictures Racelidz 4 point harness - they are five point but only fitted 4 and I have the groin belts to include in sale - seats have the holes for the 5th belt High level cage mounted brake light A quick tot up shows over £13000 of spend - excluding all the sets of tyres and general servicing costs Private plate not included and is now on retention so new v5 with age related plate should be be with me in 3-5 days (started process on the 23rd). The chassis does not have any signs of any cracks - I check it over thoroughly every now and again - the car has never been involved in any accident so is as straight as you would expect and I don’t crash heavily over curbs on track days Sure there's loads of stuff I have missed. Car has always been covered in ACF50 underneath so is in good condition and I have renewed the metallastic suspension bushes in the past. Car owned by me since 2009 (I think) and I purchased it from a guy who purchased it as an unfinished kit direct from Westfield (the car was on display at Bristol Airport if I remember correctly). The car has been mainly a track car in later years of my ownership but presents reasonably well - but there are various cracks in fibreglass - the scuttle I had wrapped a few years ago as I had added and removed the windscreen so there was an assortment of holes to cover up - the wrap is looking a bit tired now. Mechanically the car is great - it's the body work that's not up to show car standard but has to be said when cleaned it does look very smart - but it's not a show car It’s pretty handy on track in the right hands (not mine) and has more than enough go to keep up with seriously quick road cars - handles really well both on and off track with its Procomp spring/shock setup - doesn’t shake your eyeballs out like some cars I have been in Price: 15.5k which includes spare wheels, tyres and all the other parts you can see in the pictures - if you don’t want those parts make me an sensible offer

  17. me also, my uncle bought this when the album first came out, he used to play it all the time in his beat up volvo 240, its my fav from the album as well - they did a series of musicals a while back with the first few featuring as many of the original artists as was possible, great watch and of course the music was spot on.

  26. I understand your dilemma @Benrobson2999 and things do go wrong on the way. (I know!) However, beside the important issue of brake bedding, you need to ensure a really hot engine and exhaust to give you a chance on emissions as the Cat is so far from the manifold. One way or another the car needs a good warming through before IVA.

  30. I drove mine 120 miles round trip. To the IVA. Possibly one of the best things you can do. Give you chance to bed the brakes in. Everything gets nice and warm. And as long as your insured to drive there. There's nothing anyone can say. I'd say drive it there.

  32. Just for the noise, it would have to be an Alfa Romeo with a Busso V6..... 147 GTA, 164 Cloverleaf, Brera or GTV would all hit the spot and still at sensible money 👍

  35. Hi Simon I’ve been pretty absent in recent years and I think Andy (Pugwash) has kind of stepped in a bit with suggesting a few dates but if the club are ready to give it a push again that’s great! I don’t own a Westie any more having sold last year but I do have a new toy that isn’t a Clio so hopefully I’ll get to tag along on an event some time :-)

  36. OK so a bit of a thread resurrection and to do a bit of an introduction and house keeping. @SteveH used to do a great coordination job on the trackday front for the club and the back office staff for the club feel it may be worth another go/experiment. So from myself putting my hand up earlier in the week, I will now be taking up the role of trackday coordinator/liaison/advisor for the club. This is not to stop/take over any of the current organised events between club members but to try and add further value to a growing group of Westfield club members. I will establish a single point of contact with many of the large Track day organisers and manage where possible the discount code for the club or further discount for large numbers 10+. I would also like to try and get a couple more official club days together, but this will all depend on the members support. I would like to offer support to novices who would like to dip there toe into trackdays, I often see new members say general touring Westfield with a couple of trackdays a year, these are the people i would really like to help. As starting out for your first couple of day would be much easier with the support at the curcuit from other members. Finally I will be the contact for flags, gazebo etc to be booked in and out, that would like to be used at trackdays. It would be great to get some more publicity for the club at these days and hopefully adding a little more off track organisation will help. I will be looking at some dates of days throughout the rest of the year and start the tdo liaison over the next couple of weeks. There is a great core group of friendly track day goers in the club and it has been slowly growing in the last couple of years. A few more would make club only days more viable and the first bonus of that is no clio's to deal with 😁. Many thanks Simon.

  37. i think this is a great idea. i dont mind taking up the roll(ratified offically of course in the right way) so that there is a club offical contact for TDO's. potential for a couple more club supported days through the year then ontop of the current blyton day. not precious though if someone else fancies to job. anyway Gazebo wise i think the current club one isnt a pop up or am i thinking of the big one we use at blyton normally. ideally 6x3 size would be suitable i supose could still be put back into the stores at Dels as i pass by most weeks at least once to the office so can get it to and from people. maybe worth a look at the quartermasters inventry first to see if there is something usable.

  40. Hi all, In these Covid safe days we should all be cleaning our hands with hand gel after filling up with fuel but beware. We spilt some disinfect hand gel on the passenger seat and wiped it up almost straight away. However, when we got home we have noticed the top coating layer of the pvc seat has been stripped away. The Sports Turbo seats are only 7 months old and now look terrible in my new car. I would have thought Cobra would have chosen more resilient materials and tested them with typical spillages. I am in manufacturing as this is normal practice. I will call Westfield on Monday and hope they have good customer service to sort this out and arrange a replacement panel for the squab. Anyone else had similar issues and if not take great care with hand gels.
