  2. A couple more photos from yesterday. Cars lined up at Thornbridge and the ubiquitous cow muck that inhabits the Peak District and has to cover some part of the car, even on the hottest driest days

  10. Another good turnout and a great run round- the extra pink device fastened to my car didn't survive the journey home. It broke loose and started bouncing on the boot lid. So a stop to remove was required. I leave others to post up the pics of it: Sorry you had to arrange your own birthday run! We all enjoyed it, thank @Julie Hall - Peak District AO

  12. @SteveH used to do a great coordination job on the trackday front for the club and the back office staff for the club feel it may be worth another go/experiment. So from myself putting my hand up earlier in the week, I will now be taking up the role of trackday coordinator/liaison/advisor for the club. This is not to stop/take over any of the current organised events between club members but to try and add further value to a growing group of Westfield club members. I will establish a single point of contact with many of the large Track day organisers and manage where possible the discount code for the club or further discount for large numbers 10+. I would also like to try and get a couple more official club days together, but this will all depend on the members support. I would like to offer support to novices who would like to dip there toe into trackdays, I often see new members say general touring Westfield with a couple of trackdays a year, these are the people i would really like to help. As starting out for your first couple of day would be much easier with the support at the curcuit from other members. Finally I will be the contact for flags, gazebo etc to be booked in and out, that would like to be used at trackdays. It would be great to get some more publicity for the club at these days and hopefully adding a little more off track organisation will help. I will be looking at some dates of days throughout the rest of the year and start the tdo liaison over the next couple of weeks. There is a great core group of friendly track day goers in the club and it has been slowly growing in the last couple of years. A few more would make club only days more viable and the first bonus of that is no clio's to deal with 😁. Many thanks Simon.

  14. Early start this morning to meet @Ian Kinder (Bagpuss) - Joint Peak District AO before everyone turned up. Since owning a Westfield, there seems to be a theme of me meeting people in secluded car parks 😂

  23. Another great day! Very impressive watching Andrew commando roll off the picnic table at lunch, without even loosing so much as a single bean from his cooked breakfast. A good turnout too, eleven cars I think? And the Ian gave his bumper-dumper a test drive out!

  27. The above is the first part of section 8 Nuisance, which covers emissions, and was the pre-existing legislation. This is not overuled by the newer legislation below that applies to newer kit cars only. I might add that if a test station is refusing to test a vehicle that they are clearly approved to test, you can complain/appeal this as they must have a valid reason to refuse. Clearly, the fact that they do not understand the rules is not a valid reason and could land them in trouble with DVSA.

  32. Back in the mists of time while at Uni I bought a “new” mk3 cavalier ex taxi 260k miles, to replace the MK2 rust bucket. I needed to get it from Preston to South Wales and hired a trailer for a day so needed to get back to preston, also wanted to get a few hours at TokyoJoes.. The trailer empty towed so we’ll and I knew the roads though mid Wales so we’ll, I was flying. I’d spotted a car quite a bit of a distance behind which disappeared, As I slowed down entering a 30 zone it caught me and the blue lights came on… Apparently there Meistro 2.0 diesel was struggling to keep up and they where doing over 90 in places… But fair play I got a ticking off, got sent on my way. End of shift and no actual evidence I guess.

  34. I think you also have to factor in peoples natural wariness to making recommendations to strangers on open public forums. Too often on FB groups, asking for someone who "knows" kit-cars etc for an MoT, is taken as short-hand, for "where can I get a dodgy MoT from, please?" by many of the people reading it. When all we really want, is someone who understands the rules, as they relate to kit's - Q plates, etc.
