  6. Meet Quackers Cafe at Thornbridge Hall, Nr Bakewell, DE45 1NZ at 10am on Sunday 13th June. We will go for a run out then stop for lunch. Rumour has it that there is a heat wave coming this weekend. Who will be joining us? Members only.

  7. Hello All, This Sunday is the second of the month so we are going back to Podium Place, RG14 5SH for 9:30am then going for a drive. If you live near the normal meet location, The Bird in Hand RG10 9UP, then some will be meeting there at 8:45am to convoy to Podium Place. I hope you are enjoying the good weather in or around your Westfield. Tim and Steve

  9. We try and do a 'proper' holiday every 2-3 years, I'm not fussed with Spain, Portugal type of places, but we try and make it an adventure for the kids (maybe because I didn't go abroad when I was their age). We done Thailand in 2019 and moved around a little bit (the smiles on their faces more than made up for the cost!), and we are just researching Borneo for (hopefully) 2022/3, my daughters (and Wife!) are like me and love nature/rain forest type places, but as previously stated, until I/we have free reign with no restrictions I will continue to do the research. Fingers crossed we are all heading in the right direction.

  10. I absolutely appreciate I have a different perspective on holidays being retired. I know how much I looked forward to them when I worked so I get it has to be hard to miss out. I’m not completely heartless I’m missing my holidays too. I still want to do a bit more diving before I’m too old.

  11. Completely agree, we wouldn't have dreamed off booking anything now or even towards the end off last year to go abroad, I think we booked it May 2020, like I said, I never thought we would still be in this position. We only booked Lapland as something to look forward to thinking it will be all okay by then especially it not being the 'usual' type of holiday destination. The 3 uk breaks we had booked and cancelled due to changing rules were dealt with but we were shocked that either the owner or agents of these holiday cottages (2 in Cornwall and 1 in Wales) all contacted us and said "don't worry about the rules it will be fine!"

  12. As others have said altering a trussed roof is extremely difficult and requires building reg approval. Modern roof trusses are designed to a very tight tolerance to minimise the amount of weight on the supporting walls and as such every member has an input to the overall strength, removing parts of these will require substantial strengthening and calculations to support the application.

  13. Please see my reply above in post 2. a trussed roof works differently structurally to a cut roof as all the components of the truss are interdependent, altering only the bottom chord will have a significant detrimental affect on the rest of the truss and rafter unless you understand the load transfer. you need to speak to a structural engineer and building control will need to see their calculations.

  14. This is all I had. I have been in regular contact with the tdo, and when I have said x number of bookings he hasn't said no that's not right so I think all is good. Once we have a final list of people I will send him a note saying this is how many wscc members are booked on and may help with a club discount negotiation.

  16. Not the costal view I wanted but the coast road was blocked halfway so this had to do. The Westfield proving more than adequate at transporting my paragliding gear 🤪

  17. Great weekends sport at Pembrey. Used as a shakedown really as the car is freshly rebuilt . One thing that did stand out for me over the weekend was the number of cars in class 2b (Road going modified) who were illegal. No mots, no lights , no passenger seat and running tyres which were super soft. This wasn't policed all weekend which left a bitter taste in a few peoples mouths. Other than that nice to get out.

  18. Hopefully I'll be there.... I've got some new headlights, plus indicators and DRL's to fit and SWMBO has even more camper van upgrades sat in the garage she is nagging me to do..... so it will probably all depend on how hard I work and if she's got more parts hidden than I know about 😂

  19. Bit of a jaunt🥴 but we’ll be there 😜 you might have to excuse the dead flies and moths stuck over the car after our late trip home on Saturday night. A&B

  20. Yeah it’s frustrating not being able to use the third lane when you get the two lorries playing 54.5 vs 54.6 mph game.

  21. It is surprising how many do not know that rule judging by how many camping trailers you see on the M5 in the outside lane on a Friday off to Cornwall. Not sure if there is an awareness course for that, but hopefully you will get no points
