Probably the most active WSCC area in the UK, organised by the most welcoming couple that everyone gets on with. Trips well advertised and feedback and pictures shared on the forum....great for the club and for everyone that attends..newcomer or a regular. Personally I benefit from knowing that if I want to go out with my westfield friends, Julie usually has an event planned.. It's great, and has grown because of the regular events Julie organises. it's sad that club representative thinks its OK to question/criticise in an open forum. It's the goodwill of members like Julie that make the club what it is. Sadly the members goodwill and the benefits of activities such as this published on the open forum will only dimish if similar action's occur. Having seen some of the other groups of cars taking over car parks on Bank Holidays and not be public friendly. I agree with Julie's (the organiser) approach @Julie Hall - Peak District AO.. keep doing what you're doing 👍11 points

Here here Dave, well said! 👏 Planning the meets and routes is a difficult and time consuming thing to do, I had a small taste this morning and it's not as easy as Julie makes it look 😂 Hope you get the car sorted soon, I'm dieing to take a look! @Julie Hall - Peak District AOthanks for a great day again, it was fantastic to see so many of us out. Also a bug thanks to @Ian Kinder (Bagpuss) - Joint Peak District AOfor being the sheepdog, I was truly gobsmacked when everyone actually arrived at the lunch stop 😂 Great company, stunning cars, beautiful roads and amazing scenery.... nailed it as usual 👌 Great to see some new members on their first Peaks WSCC experience, hope you enjoyed it and hopefully we'll see you on the next one! What a line up!!9 points

@Julie Hall - Peak District AO We all love you and Glen, you do a cracking job of organising the runs out and it’s one of the things I always looked for when joining the club (actual runs out with other westfields), and Today was no exception, absolutely fantastic day! Thanks alot for finding lovely quiet roads on a busy bank holiday weekend! Good to get out with all the regular faces and of course meet the new ones! here’s a couple pics I took from the back after @Ian Kinder (Bagpuss) - Joint Peak District AO was off hearding the cats so to speak! catch you all soon!9 points

Julie, as an AO, her events, be they meets, or the more usual runs out and her area in general represent the absolute gold standard of how these things can be done within the Club. It’s not a coincidence that it’s often possible to find at least two or three other AO’s, present at the events, purely there as a guest, enjoying Julie’s organisation with our fellow Club Members, and no surprise to find the events as well attended as today’s. Its important to remember that today’s, like many of the Peak District’s is a run out with, knowing Julie, several meticulously researched stops, at local small businesses in the Peaks. It is critical for the safety of all those attending, and for the public also present that control is kept and attendees know when to behave accordingly, and when fun can be had, hiding steering wheels and so on! Since I became an AO years ago, I remember being advised the best way to do this, was to make sure that attendees were Club members, and that these organised runs were one of the membership perks. Local meets, in one fixed location are different, here, as a club, it’s true, we do encourage non-members to come along and chat to us, even come out for a pax ride, if they’re potential buyers. And the Peak District, like hopefully all our areas, is just as welcoming to these people - you’d struggle in fact to find better hosts than Julie and Glenn. But that’s a very different scenario to being part of a twenty car plus run on narrow Peaks roads and through occasional small Peaks villages. It is testament to how well organised Julie’s runs are and how almost invisibly, it feels, we are kept in line, that bar the odd mechanical breakdown, they have always been incident free. Just wish I was there today, in this glorious weather, as planned, rather than preparing to get the car on ramps to find out why my clutch decided to go awol yesterday.9 points

Thank you for all the lovely messages both public and private, it makes it all worthwhile xxx. Let's hope the good committee of this club can take action to support the AO's and we can have lots more of these enjoyable days out uniterrupted. Big thank you to Ian and Bill for rounding up the rear. Quackers is proving to be a perfect meeting point, we had 18 cars in total. The seating area, service and food are all excellent. Competitive cake comparisons The car park holds all our cars well Luke wore the magnet with pride. He now has 2 track days and today's run out without incident under his belt so it was time to hand it back. What a great sense of humour you guys have. Scott was getting worried, Rob suggested we might swap the magnet for a sponge, let's see! Next we took to the road, straight off the big main roads and on to the quiet back roads, blissfully empty all the way. Front row seat Keeping 18 cars together was always going to be difficult and I could not have done it without the help of Bill and Ian but we got there and it all worked out. We arrived at The Bull I Thorn where Chris and Mo, and Luke and Gemma were waiting for us. Again this is a great establishment with food, service and car parking just right. Someone had a club sandwich and a coffee and forgot to pay, so if it was you then please can you send the money to Rob, it is easily done and isn't the first time, I wish they would take the money on ordering. The Bull I Thorn Garys Zetec engined MEV and the Andy's Tiger on show with us and always welcome, I just wish the Cobra could have made it. Glynn's car is the new grey one on the left and it caused quite a stir, the modern colouring and styling was admired a lot. Eat, drink and be merry, just like we used to before lockdown Emma, this is what your husband and son, Scott and Charlie, get up to in your absence Followed by this The 3 wise monkeys lurking in the background, speak no, see no and Luke laughing The 2 Andrews got the largest portions, it must be in the name, so if you are hungry just call yourself Andrew and you might get the same treatment. Luke joyfully handed the magnet back to me, so I am caretaking it, BE WARNED, it's hot, hot, hot for you Everyone went off on their long journey's home, leaving Andrew and us looking at the big orange thing in the sky, only one thing for it....more cake...so off we went to the Blue Lagoon at The Stone Centre. Home made cheesecake anyone? That also meant a drive down the Via Gellia and a pose through Matlock Bath on the way home, great finish. You have all driven miles to come today and I hope you have enjoyed it as much as we have, thank you for your effort and support, hope to see you all again soon. Not next weekend though as we are on holiday.7 points

Ali and I had a great day. Thanks too those that organised it all, we found the mix of people, cars, the drive out and food stops a perfect blend. Was great too meet some fellow owners. I’ve been a member of various car and bike clubs over the years, and can honestly say, that this one tops them all. We shall return! Cheers, Ian & Ali.7 points

What a great day again thanks Julie the route was fantastic. It was great to meet everyone and chat. Really happy that yesterday's comments didn't spoil everyone's day. Organising 18 cars and staying together is hard work and thanks to Ian and Billy in assisting today. Sue says thanks for the Rolos. Thanks again for a great day and you are what makes this club great. Keep doing what your doing.6 points

Another fantastic run through the peaks with some stunning scenery on the back roads. Thanks to @Paul Hurdsfield for the loan of the socket set to fix my coolant hose mishap! And thanks again to @Julie Hall - Peak District AO for organising it. See you all soon...4 points

Sorry @Julie Hall - Peak District AO ... my child care has not been able to make it today 😞 Having read through some of the other posts I'd just like to thank you for being you. Even during what has been a difficult time for me where I've been out of the loop you've still kept in touch and made sure I was fine ... that and the hard work you put into the AO role does not go unnoticed by the majority of the members! I hope you all have a good trip out today and I can't wait for the next one.4 points

Now more importantly how do we go about donating a membership to Julie's neighbour (and dog)? 🤣3 points

Can't believe what I'm reading here. The AO of one of the most proactive and inclusive areas in the Club being publicly criticised by the AO rep. If this needed to be done at all it should have been done privately.3 points

Great day as always. Thanks @Martyn Vann - Warwickshire AO and co for looking after us and sorting out some decent weather. Shame the vtec on my motor didn't play ball but it was a great opportunity to at least test the handling and get a glimpse of the awesome possibility the s2000 engine has in these cars. Look forward to the autumn event.1 point

I also had a great day Friday nice to get out on track for the first time this year. Thanks to Martyn & sue for some great hospitality, sorry I didn’t say bye had to shoot off.1 point

@a15cro I guess the US V8 is the exact opposite of the boy racer. When I took friends in my Camaro or Corvette they were always surprised just how much they would pull at 2000 revs. No turbos, superchargers, overhead cams. Just lots of large cylinders into which you pour a lot of petrol.1 point

Funny you should say that Alan, my guy sent me a long for a supercharger but two things stopped me, 1, I didn’t want to cut the bone tans 2, I’d just got the `Westie back and funds were (thankfully) short!1 point

Has anyone got a drone they can bring along? The private road to the cafe, once off the main road would make a great scene when we all drive out?1 point

Who? My decision is final and has been that way for a long time, it's members only. If what I do is not to your liking then I can operate without of this club, just let me know youtr decision.1 point

Ian It really isn't necessary to be so draconian in such a public manner. I suggest you owe Julie an appology. Please think in the future before you make such a public issue. I'm sure a pm would have been sufficient to make your point.1 point

For those meeting up at the services on the A38/A50, this is the route I'm planning to take to avoid Matlock and stay off the A6 as much as possible. Google maps link below (hopefully it works!) https://maps.app.goo.gl/p4AwYHxqME4dbjJp6 (For those without Google maps, I've posted a turn by turn lower down) It should take us about an hour (traffic permitting) so we'll leave at about 9am... There is a fuel station and toilets at the services. I'm also planning to stop for a top up at Wirksworth Co-op petrol station to rid us of any "range anxiety" for the subsequent Julie's magical mystery tour of cake based destinations 👍 1. Head east 2. At the roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto Etwall Rd/B5008 3. Exit the roundabout onto Etwall Rd/B5008 4. At Toyota Island, take the 4th exit onto the A38 slip road to M1 North/Derby 5. Exit the roundabout onto the A38 slip road to M1 North/Derby 6. Merge onto Burton Rd/A38 7. At the roundabout, take the 1st exit onto Kingsway/A38 8. Exit the roundabout onto Kingsway/A38 9. At the roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto Queensway 10. Exit the roundabout onto Queensway 11. Use the left lane to take the A6 slip road to Matlock 12. At Palm Ct Island, take the 2nd exit onto Duffield Rd/A6 13. Exit the roundabout onto Duffield Rd/A6 14. Turn left onto Broadway/B5023 15. At the roundabout, continue straight onto Warmbrook/B5023 16. Turn left 17. Arrive at location: The Co-operative Food & Petrol - Wirksworth 18. Head west towards Harrison Dr/B5023 19. Turn left onto Harrison Dr/B5023 20. Turn left to stay on B5023 21. Turn right to stay on B5023 22. Turn left onto A5012 23. Turn right onto B5056 24. Turn left onto A6 25. At the roundabout, take the 1st exit onto N Church St/A6 26. Turn right onto A6020 27. Turn left 28. Arrive at location: Thornbridge Hall1 point

Good idea, but..........having been there once, I'm still not clear on exactly where the 'left' is? Is it on this pic? If who ever arrives first, successfully finds the left. I suggest they reverse park, very neatly and then appoint themselves as parking director and assist those who arrive after to park VERY neatly. I fully appreciate after the long drive some make to attend, you just want to park up, jump out, stretch your legs and water the flowers. If this is the case. Please return to your vehicle once you're feeling more normally and adjust your parking. A nice smart line of well parked cars, will indeed make a great shot and just spending that extra 1 min to park neatly and precisely may sound picky, but can make the difference between a good photo and a great one! If the 'boss' identifies exactly where left is! I'll endeavor to get their early and help parking duties. Just, checking, is this 'straight'?1 point
