Can't believe what I'm reading here. The AO of one of the most proactive and inclusive areas in the Club being publicly criticised by the AO rep. If this needed to be done at all it should have been done privately.5 points

I'm pleased and relieved in equal measure that this popped up Looking forward to it! Lots of new people to meet, lots of friends to catch up with, lots of cars to drool over and of course lots of cake to eat!!! 👍4 points

My next door neighbour (aged 84) and his pet dog would love to join us in his Fiesta but sadly I won't let him.4 points

Ian It really isn't necessary to be so draconian in such a public manner. I suggest you owe Julie an appology. Please think in the future before you make such a public issue. I'm sure a pm would have been sufficient to make your point.4 points

Mr Waterfall @Simon Waterfall Syman84It could of been one of two conversations 🤔 if it was with @LukeWit was about your video at knockhill , we couldn’t decide if you had no brain or huge b******!! Or it could of been with @BenDsaying how he dislikes being on track with you ! As you drive like Miss Daisy and act as a mobile chicane 🤣. Only joking Simon it was complementing you and your car , I’ve yet to see it in the flesh and driven in anger, I hope you’ve dried out after your venture over the border, take it easy and see you soon Andy 😘4 points

Nature abhors a vacuum & there is such a space in my garage that a westfield would nicely fill. Having previously had a Pintworth SE back in the noughties I'm now looking out for a wide bodied (maybe Aerorace) for road, trackdays, sprints and the odd autotest (I'll post in the wanted section shortly). My main motorsport activities are tarmac rallying in a duratec engined sunbeam, I also dabble in ECU mapping, kevlar/CF composites and work in IT to pay for it all! Hope to meet up with some old acquaintances and meet many news ones as we hopefully get back to normality over the coming months. Stuart2 points

I found that by adjusting the length of the axle tie rods I could align the axle to the car and to the front wheels. I normally try to mark the centre line of the chassis front and back to enable all the wheels and suspension to be at equal distances from the centre of the car and hope the bodywork looks happy. With this car the prop shaft sits off centre at the rear of the chassis which looks a little odd. This works well on fully adjustable suspension and at the front on this car it was OK. The pics were taken at the fitting stage so nuts and bolts were not tightened until the final fix. I did learn another lesson when buying used wheels check they are round and true before doing anything else to them. I now have to invest into another set of 13" x 6" wheels as I never noticed until at the MOT the tester pointed out to me a little run out on both front wheels. So far this does not show up when driving plus the fitter who balanced the wheels never noticed - say no more.2 points

I'm looking to get back into the Westfield way after a 15 year absence but this time with a wide bodied car engined model. I'm open to buying something ready to go but equally changing major components if the price is right but has to have a V5 as it will see some road use and I'm not going to put a car through an IVA, budget is up to £20k for something that ticks all the boxes but will consider lower spec/price cars that I then significantly upgrade. Perfect spec would be aerorace & lightweight bodywork, aeroscreen, full cage, uprated T9 box, LSD, wide tunnel chassis so engine can go well back, lightweight brakes/hubs. I have the option to drop in a tuned 2 litre Duratec engine (which I already have as a spare for the rally car) but could run as is this year to avoid missing summer use. Changing engines, boxes, diffs, suspension & brakes, converting to EFi, rewiring for digital dash, fitting a full cage & other significant changes are all ok with me. I won't be having carpets, wet weather gear, heater etc so none of that really matters. A search found this which was almost perfect but then I saw it was for sale 18 months ago... I'm near Coventry but travel round the UK quite a lot so location isn't a restriction. Hopefully there will be something around and I'll be able to participate in a Warwickshire meet in the near future! Thanks Stuart1 point

Hello, I've had my new (1992 Sei) Westfield for about a month now and though I'd try and use it as my daily driver for the past week or so. The weather co-operated and, whilst mostly working from home this week, I had a few trips to do around Kent. What a great week of driving it has been. I've lost count of the number of waves, thumbs ups and smiles I've had whilst pootling about the countryside. I took my partners daughter out last weekend and picked my son up from school this afternoon, both very happy children enjoying the noise and managing not to burn themselves on the exhaust on the way out. I've had conversations about the car with absolute strangers in car parks, petrol stations anywhere I happened to stop. What a sociable little thing it is ! Even having to swop the front callipers didn't dampen the mood. I wish I'd bought one ages ago, its the perfect antidote to the last year. Marc1 point

After over a year and a half away from home, Ive finally got my Camaro back. It's been away for a new set of aluminium heads, carb and a freshen up. I let a friend of mine do the work as it would have never been put back together if I had stripped it down. He specialises in the American stuff so I knew it was in safe hands. Its so good to get that 5.7 V8 muscle noise rattling the windows and scaring people at the bus stops as I open up the exhaust bypass solenoids 😂 Not a bad looker for 41yrs old!1 point

Now more importantly how do we go about donating a membership to Julie's neighbour (and dog)? 🤣1 point

Sadly not the first time an AO has been thrown under the bus publicly by the "AO rep"1 point

Yes Julie it is. I find it surprising that on previous occasions your area has had other drivers than WSCC with you and in the spirit of the club it seems strange. We do not operate a closed door policy. Or does the Peak area now operate an exclusive closed group policy? Also, Quinten is our webmaster and so to encourage his family who could be members in the future. I would request that you re-consider your decision and allow non members to join in. For those meeting up at the services on the A38/A50, this is the route I'm planning to take to avoid Matlock and stay off the A6 as much as possible. Google maps link below (hopefully it works!) https://maps.app.goo.gl/p4AwYHxqME4dbjJp6 (For those without Google maps, I've posted a turn by turn lower down) It should take us about an hour (traffic permitting) so we'll leave at about 9am... There is a fuel station and toilets at the services. I'm also planning to stop for a top up at Wirksworth Co-op petrol station to rid us of any "range anxiety" for the subsequent Julie's magical mystery tour of cake based destinations 👍 1. Head east 2. At the roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto Etwall Rd/B5008 3. Exit the roundabout onto Etwall Rd/B5008 4. At Toyota Island, take the 4th exit onto the A38 slip road to M1 North/Derby 5. Exit the roundabout onto the A38 slip road to M1 North/Derby 6. Merge onto Burton Rd/A38 7. At the roundabout, take the 1st exit onto Kingsway/A38 8. Exit the roundabout onto Kingsway/A38 9. At the roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto Queensway 10. Exit the roundabout onto Queensway 11. Use the left lane to take the A6 slip road to Matlock 12. At Palm Ct Island, take the 2nd exit onto Duffield Rd/A6 13. Exit the roundabout onto Duffield Rd/A6 14. Turn left onto Broadway/B5023 15. At the roundabout, continue straight onto Warmbrook/B5023 16. Turn left 17. Arrive at location: The Co-operative Food & Petrol - Wirksworth 18. Head west towards Harrison Dr/B5023 19. Turn left onto Harrison Dr/B5023 20. Turn left to stay on B5023 21. Turn right to stay on B5023 22. Turn left onto A5012 23. Turn right onto B5056 24. Turn left onto A6 25. At the roundabout, take the 1st exit onto N Church St/A6 26. Turn right onto A6020 27. Turn left 28. Arrive at location: Thornbridge Hall1 point

Sorry I didn't get a chance to thank you in person before I left but many thanks Martyn and Sue for putting on such an enjoyable event. Good to meet up with some new faces and an excellent opportunity for a shakedown before my season's competition begins. Weather wasn't bad either. Keith1 point

That rear suspension lateral location linkage is what I would call a Watts linkage. Probably the best way of locating a live back axle laterally, but rather more complicated to design and fabricate than the more common Panhard rod.1 point

I think it was this very Peel Session that I discovered Mogwai - one of my all time favourite bands seen live maybe 10 times. RIP JP 😔1 point

Debut track experience for my son & I. We have a long way to go before can challenge Sir Lewis Hamilton. But learned lots. Must try harder. Giving the keys to an experienced driver was an eye opener. Apparently my brakes do work. So the grass cutting, missed braking zones must have been oil related. My son and I were treated to a serious run thanks to Luke Wyatt & Steve Potter. Personally I worked more on this run, holding on! than during the driving. Thanks both! Thank you Martyn, Sue for the great hospitality. Casey-Jay is now requesting marinated pork meals. Great day had by all. All the best. JCB🚜 @Martyn Vann - Warwickshire AO @LukeW1 point

More suited to a farm track seen as they’re almost built out of tractor parts 🤣 Definitely not designed for twisty roads, but straight line off the lights gives big smiles. This ones my plodder, just for shows, parades etc, give it a blip now and again just to make it anti-social (my wife says it’s embarrassing and she’s never even been in it!)1 point

Just don’t let Ian park your car for you! It has a history of not ending well!! 😮 🤦♂️ 😬 🤪1 point

Good idea, but..........having been there once, I'm still not clear on exactly where the 'left' is? Is it on this pic? If who ever arrives first, successfully finds the left. I suggest they reverse park, very neatly and then appoint themselves as parking director and assist those who arrive after to park VERY neatly. I fully appreciate after the long drive some make to attend, you just want to park up, jump out, stretch your legs and water the flowers. If this is the case. Please return to your vehicle once you're feeling more normally and adjust your parking. A nice smart line of well parked cars, will indeed make a great shot and just spending that extra 1 min to park neatly and precisely may sound picky, but can make the difference between a good photo and a great one! If the 'boss' identifies exactly where left is! I'll endeavor to get their early and help parking duties. Just, checking, is this 'straight'?1 point

@a15cro the thing that made me chuckle was the fact I had driven to two hydraulic hose companies today to get some M14 to 8mm barb fittings. Then you rock up with a gouged out spark plug.1 point

@Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Secretary can we have a club yearly award for the most creative hack job. The above from @a15cro is a contender. Other awards could be: Most expensive mistake of year. Biggest her in doors pay off. Parts scavenger of the year. Most triggered on forum. Best hack job of the year. Funniest story out and about. Shortest shorts on club blat. Most unevidenced bhp figure. Most useless modification.1 point
