After over a year and a half away from home, Ive finally got my Camaro back. It's been away for a new set of aluminium heads, carb and a freshen up. I let a friend of mine do the work as it would have never been put back together if I had stripped it down. He specialises in the American stuff so I knew it was in safe hands. Its so good to get that 5.7 V8 muscle noise rattling the windows and scaring people at the bus stops as I open up the exhaust bypass solenoids 😂 Not a bad looker for 41yrs old!11 points

Who'd be daft enough to go at the back of possibly the longest Peaky Blat Convoy ever? I best come out to play then! See you all on Sun, I've had an early 'pass out'!8 points

WHEN YOU ENTER THE QUACKERS CAR PARK PLEASE PARK ON THE LEFT WHERE WE SHOULD GET ALL 21 CARS IN A LINE PREFERABLY A STRAIGHT ONE😄6 points
-
Yes, I have warned the owner of Quackers so they are coming in a bit earlier for us, they do amaze that we eat cake for breakfast, as if there is something wrong with it, 🙄 tut. I have also warned the ladies at the lunch stop that we will have to go 'take away' style and eat by our cars as we will be too big a group for tables. Love the dog @Ian Kinder (Bagpuss) - Joint Peak District AO am I right in thinking it is what they call a Westie? a West Highland White Terrier? Thank you for offering to be car number 21 in our convoy. After @Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Secretary earlier comment about Stoneleigh, Glen has now named me Juleigh, it's gonna be a good day.6 points

Good idea, but..........having been there once, I'm still not clear on exactly where the 'left' is? Is it on this pic? If who ever arrives first, successfully finds the left. I suggest they reverse park, very neatly and then appoint themselves as parking director and assist those who arrive after to park VERY neatly. I fully appreciate after the long drive some make to attend, you just want to park up, jump out, stretch your legs and water the flowers. If this is the case. Please return to your vehicle once you're feeling more normally and adjust your parking. A nice smart line of well parked cars, will indeed make a great shot and just spending that extra 1 min to park neatly and precisely may sound picky, but can make the difference between a good photo and a great one! If the 'boss' identifies exactly where left is! I'll endeavor to get their early and help parking duties. Just, checking, is this 'straight'?5 points

Especially with @Andy Westwood coming. He even managed to get the biggest bit last weekend. I’m having whatever he has.5 points

Oh and once it’s all strapped on, the most important step is to shake the car and say out loud “that’s not going anywhere” Do not miss out this key step.5 points

The process I went through was at first trying to agree with DVSA an approach to registering my car as it had been supplied to Terry Nightingale in 1989 who subsequently sold it to a Jersey based owner. DVSA insisted that the chassis number be changed to the current format and then put through the IVA inspection. I had a new chassis section cut and a local engraver put the DVLA supplied chassis number on it (Welded plates with the new VIN on were not acceptable) I did leave the original chassis numbers on the chassis. I Restored the car to meet IVA standards but became increasingly unhappy that the history of the car was being lost. It was a clubman hill climb and sprint car in Jersey but in 1999 the records in Jersey were computerised and unless the 'J' number was provided no help could be given. I tried to trace the original owner only to find he had moved to Spain so no records of previous registration. Scroll forward to 1994 the car was re imported by Terry Nightingale who sold the car as a competition car to a UK owner who obtained an MSA log book but never registered the car for use on the UK roads. It was hill climbed and sprinted then put into storage awaiting restoration. I purchased the car and restored it with new all Westfield bodywork and a road going Ford engine to get in through emissions. Not original but still a Westfield. I do import motorcycles from the sixties from time to time and restore them and often have to register them without a logbook but I obtain a NOVA (import docs) and dating certificates. So not wanting to change the car into a 2021 1989 SE I set about getting a NOVA, dating certificate for the car and then for its 1987 Ford engine. Once completed the car passed its MOT. I now had a set of documents that should enable me to register the car as a 1989 Westfield SE. Scroll forward 6 weeks and today the V5c dropped through my letter box. The car is registered as a 1989 SE Westfield fitted a 1987 Pinto engine type 9 gearbox and a 3.9 diff in an English axle. Has bias adjustment brakes and an Authur Mallock style WOBLINK low roll centre rear axle none of which would have passed the IVA. I kept all the original inner panels but had them powder coated along with all the suspension components. The yellow cycle wings I used to maybe help get it through IVA but I have now got used to them so they stayed fitted. New shocks and springs the list goes on. Looking forward to driving it and by no means a fast Westfield but has been on a long journey since 1989. Bernard3 points

We are up in gods county, we seem to have more reasonable laws up here 😉 To be honest it sees the light a very select number of days a year. It’s 41yr old, historic tax etc, I’ve got black and silver plates in the boot as well just in case. We won’t mention my magic switch that opens the bellows of hell and bypasses the silencers and gives full roar. 🤘😈3 points

Hello, I've had my new (1992 Sei) Westfield for about a month now and though I'd try and use it as my daily driver for the past week or so. The weather co-operated and, whilst mostly working from home this week, I had a few trips to do around Kent. What a great week of driving it has been. I've lost count of the number of waves, thumbs ups and smiles I've had whilst pootling about the countryside. I took my partners daughter out last weekend and picked my son up from school this afternoon, both very happy children enjoying the noise and managing not to burn themselves on the exhaust on the way out. I've had conversations about the car with absolute strangers in car parks, petrol stations anywhere I happened to stop. What a sociable little thing it is ! Even having to swop the front callipers didn't dampen the mood. I wish I'd bought one ages ago, its the perfect antidote to the last year. Marc2 points

Ooooooo! You got some Zoomies? COOOOOOL! 😎 Takes me back to my youth when I had a number of muscle cars, each one I fitted with straight-through glass-pack Cherry Bomb “mufflers” 🤣 that shook windows, frightened small animals and drown out conversations and the cassette player... happy days! Have fun! 👍2 points

Excellent work! Just had to put some money in the meter in order to reply. Quiet one, but opted to go into the office for it (currently on one day a week as a break from wfh) and bought in cakes etc, as you do if institutionalised by the likes of JCB into the workplace cake culture. Weekend looks set for it. Daniel2 points

Those are certainly good to have, as they can then be used on any trailer, to secure the wheels. Personally, where it's your own trailer, and mainly used for the same car, I like the webbing bridge strap/Staple approach best, these bolt to the trailer, in front of each wheel that you want to tie down, they then let you feed the tie down strap underneath, before it runs up and over the tyre and down the other side. this way the straps are always tensioned down on the tyre's surface and there's no risk to bodywork, brake lines etc behind each wheel. I'll try and find a photo... I've not found the exact one yet, this uses extra hooks in place of the bridge straps, but shows you how the tie down goes over the wheel. Not a great image, but these are an example of the fixed type bridge straps you can bolt to the trailer, to feed the tie downs through.1 point

Final update for a few weeks. Top service this week from local company Bentleys Blasting who have cleaned up all the brackets and small parts and then zinc plated then again. They were only dropped off on Wednesday, yet all done and delivered back to me two days later. So many of these parts I could have replaced but I wanted to keep as many of the original bits as possible. the engine mounting brackets and gearbox adaptor plate were originally painted but as these are prone to scrapes and impact when fitting I opted to get them cleaned up and plated too.1 point
