  4. If you do join us in the Peak District, you will have to make sure to get to the cake before @Andy Westwood if you want any. He has a habit of getting the lions share

  6. My garage in Leamington just did mine last week and has done for 20 years. He’s a one-man op these days, works Mon-Thurs, lots of experience with kit cars. I sit in the car and operate the switches, etc which he’s quite happy to do. PM me if you want details.

  9. Welcome. I’m just north of Woodhall and travel to join in with the Peak District runs. Well worth it as they are a great bunch and the trips are brilliant. Hope to meet up soon when they restart.

  10. Winter tinkering scope-creep This was originally going to be "fit flared side panels" and it's morphed into a complete body-off respray

  11. Preliminary news on the Indian variant is that whilst it looks to be more transmissible, it is not a vaccine escape mutation. But as ever, early information may change. Fingers crossed. As for why I took the vaccine, that's easy. People with knowledge, experience and empirical data said to me that it's a good thing to do to protect others as well as myself. I am in the habit of agreeing with doctors and medical professionals when they suggest that a particular medication or vaccine is a good idea. This is no different. When I travel to far flung places I look up the travel health advice and if vaccines are indicated, I book myself in at the doctors for a jab becasue as is true for many things, prevention is better than cure. I wear earplugs when driving the Westfield and protective clothing when riding the motorcycle because these things are good and sensible things to do too, not because of fear or peer pressure or some conspiracy that the communists made Westfied exhausts loud on purpose to make a small fraction of the middlea aged population slightly deaf and they've cornered the market in custom made earplugs with trackers in them...

  12. Not really - but it’s a club event and never had any issues leaving stuff lying around. But plenty of us there with tow cars if you feel the need to squirrel away any goodies 👍

  13. Hi Ian Thanks for the offer, but you've seen the state of my car after the winter tinkering got a bit out of hand. It' not going anywhere for a few weeks - I'm aiming for the end of June to be back on the road. Si only wants a fiver for posting the intercom, so at least when I get bored of working on the Westie I can always fiddle with my helmet..... 🙄

  16. Just to add after reading the comments. I’ve done 100’s of trackdays with nearly every tdo. You always get one or two plonkers and I just take note and stay away. If they come behind me I let them past at the next opportunity. If I catch someone and they don’t let you past after a lap or so I’ll back off or come in. Most of the incidents you see like in video can be avoided. It’s not a race, no one gets a tin cup at the end of the day. We’re there to have fun and go home in one piece. Ive emailed Alan today so hopefully be at blyton to meet everyone 🤞🏼

  23. Personally, airfield days are preferable for my relatively low skill level and high fear factor. Loads of run-off and no Armco. I have been to Keevil one December but as it was very near Christmas road-madness weekend (trailering for two hours on the M4 didn't appeal) and frankly bl**** freezing, I opted to use my Z3 instead of my Westfield. It's a nice venue as Airfields go - Abingdon is the best in my experience but I've not been there for a couple of years or more. My son was with us at Keevil and was main reason we went in the winter. His Z4M Coupé is far more compatible with 5ºC air temperatures! It's nice to know that Keevil is back but sad that Hullavington will never be on again.

  25. I had Coronavirus six weeks or so before taking the jab, it contributed, in all likelihood to making me quite ill for a few days afterwards. In theory, just having had the infection would have given me, personally, a good amount of protection against further infection. I had the jab because I wanted to do what I could to protect friends family and people I’ve never met nor never will. I took it to protect you, and just like I would fight tooth and nail to protect your and everyone else’s right to choose, and to speak openly, even if I do find what you say repellant. There comes a time when we do what we do for others, because the world needs to. Not just shrug cynical shoulders and pretend we’re above it all.

  29. You can’t compare smoking or drinking alcohol to covid. People have been drinking for millennia and smoking for centuries. But this is unprecedented in our lifetime and in a matter of months crippled industries and brought some poorer countries’ healthcare services to their knees. If “taking one for the team” can help put an end to it then in my view you should do just that - even if the benefits to you as an individual are non existent But ultimately this should still not be enforced by government. Your conscience should do that for you.

  34. I think it’s quite simple really, if you offered the vaccine and you refuse then you stay in lockdown because you are at a higher risk of passing the vaccine on or contracting Covid yourself.

  35. Well I’m glad I took the advice from @Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Secretaryfirst jab Thursday and apart from a sore arm yesterday morning, no symptoms to report. I don’t know if I’m lucky or the paracetamol before and after did the trick, but I do know I feel better than I did when I had Covid.

  36. Exactly. I think that point hasn't been pushed hard enough by all the ads that are pushing the younger adults to roll up their sleeve.

  37. Don’t forget, being vaccinated isn’t just about reducing the likely severity if you should get it, it’s also about reducing transmission rates, too.

  38. A friend of mine has died from Covid. Another friend was seriously ill from covid (I'm talking intensive care ill, and suffering months after coming out of hospital) so from my view point anyone who won't have the jab is worse than...... I'll leave that to the reader. It might not save you from serious illness, but think what it might save your older contacts from.
