Outside the office this morning.... 30mph limit, slightly damp straight road.... Heard a bang so dashed out with my first aider and H&S manager to assist. Thankfully there were no pedestrians or cyclists and the driver was unhurt! The bonehead had decided to overtake a learner (on his way to his test), lit the rears up in his M2, lifted off and spun across the road, over the pavement and cycle path and took out a lamppost. The driving instructor had all round dashcam footage which the police found very interesting 😂 Fingers crossed the learner passes his test and he learns from what he witnessed4 points

OK, good news/bad news! The restrictions have lifted sufficiently, that under “Covid rules”, a meeting at the Golden Pheasant for a group of six is possible. (We won’t quite make the full relaxation of the rules this month, but fingers crossed next months June meet we should be able to get much more back to normal) I’ve already booked a table for the full six allowed, and I’ve already spoken to six members, who’ve confirmed they’re coming. So I’m afraid, this month, it looks like we’re “full”. While it will be great to catch up, I’m sad that we can’t just throw the doors wide open for all, but we are so nearly there now, please those that can’t make it, just be patient a little longer.2 points

It will be a great day out. Make sure you get around and have a chat. Don't be afraid to speak to people and ask questions if you want to know something. If you need help or tools. As Simon says between us we probably could rebuild a space shuttle with the tools that most of us take1 point

Following above advice from @maurici and other found on locostbuilders , YT etc., decided to make a foam seat myself - a proper racing item First not in Westfield , but I am going to make one for the Westfield too, as it feels soooo comfortable, so fited to the body ! and allows for proper attachement of 5 + 6 straps As it is in MNR which has higher body - nose and engine cover, and a diagonal pipe across sitting area, so the seat position can not be as low. So the seat tooks a lot of foam - approx 10 l of the 35kg/m3 foam, and some 200 at the bottom. One important observation - the liquids need to be warmed up to 25 deg C or more so it expands properly. I made few liters in lower temperatures, to it was not expanding as it could. Also I decided to add some reinforecments with epoxy resin and fiberglas , ans "painted" all of the seat with epoxy before taping with duck tape. Sadly due to huge delays of parts delivery ordered almost half year ago in MNR, cant try the seat on the track , but hope to drive it eventualy. here some pictures , maybe will help someone with similar work: https://aswestfield.wordpress.com/majsterkowanie/ Slideshow abowe with pictures from following stages , below only two start and finish Start - determining sitting height and back position so could reach the dashboard and steering whell1 point

BBQ, tyre kicking and taking the p*** out of each other is standard procedure. Some setting up of alloted spaces for the sprint. Many get there from 2pm onwards to set up there homes(tents and vans) for the weekend. I wouldn't worry to much about tools as there are plenty of us there for the weekend who empty the garages into our cars.1 point

I always carry a bike combination cable lock with me in the car, I secure my helmet and detachable wheel to the roll hoop if I leave the car unattended. As others have said, you will struggle to even stop for fuel without having a chat with an interested stranger..... mind you, that of course happened to me all the time even before I got a Westfield 😎😂😂1 point

I take me steering wheel off. Not much you can do if an idiot wants to play silly though is there! Having motorbikes things like this used to play on my mind. Nowadays I just don’t worry. Try having a narrowboat and being woken at 7AM in Stratford upon Avon by Chinese family’s sitting on deck taking photos. Or coming back from the pub and finding a near naked couple misusing the tiller...1 point

Left mine unattended all over Europe while on big hikes without any issues. I've got an immobiliser fitted, and a removable steering wheel. Whenever it's not practical to take the steering wheel with me, I lock it under the bonnet. I try to avoid parking up in cities after I had someone set off the fire extinguisher once, but generally these cars draw so much attention that those with bad intentions stay away.1 point

I find daft as it sounds, something simple like having a tonneau cover over the cockpit, (or roof and side screens seems to completely halt this climb in tendency. (Mad really, as it's only some vinyl, held on with press studs!) The other half of the equation is protecting your self from the less innocent passers by. Here there are a number of popular steps, immobilisers - the key-less Sterling Excel is extremely popular, as it's almost "invisible" in use. Removable steering wheels - they don't just aid getting in/out, specially with weather gear, but are a brilliant visual deterrent. A big bike chain, for overnight stops, is one of my favourites, as a minimum, through a rear wheel and the roll bar, but where possible, round something solid too, like a lamp post, fence, or even another Westfield.1 point
