Perseverance has paid off and I won't have to disconnect the airbag. I rang this morning in high dudgeon because they hadn't called last Friday as promised. I suggested that it would be better if they just told me they were not interested in helping me and save me the trouble of constantly ringing them. However, the lovely lady I spoke to asked me to wait a few minutes while she read the case history and she then said Peugeot would cover the full replacement of the indicator unit at the local dealership. She said she would email me and the dealership within the hour with the details and all I had to do was to book the car in. 30 minutes later the email arrived as promised. Overall, a good result but hard work in getting there. Nevertheless, many thanks to Lizzie for bringing it to a conclusion.6 points

Patrick and the team in parts have been consistently superb, in my own dealings with them - yes, sometimes, where something needed to be made to order, like the tonneau cover I ordered last year, there have been some long lead times from their suppliers. But Iβve found Westfields end of the process to be consistently quick, painless and expedited as efficiently as they can, outside factors allowing. Where an item had been in stock, (and many have), itβs been here next day, as long as Iβve ordered early enough in the day.3 points

They are Richard. The front and rear are elasticated and tuck underneath nicely. It is very stretchy and soft too. You can get the logo in most of the Westfield colours and for a bit extra you can get your name embroidered in the back. It also comes with a nice little bag to keep it in when it's not on the car. I should get commission for this @Westfield Parts Deptπ...2 points

Last few jobs tonight pre Caldwell this week. Drivers seat back in as the new harnesses are a couple of weeks away. Swapped the fuel regulator back to the original one as Iβve ditched the swirl pot idea seen as I have a sump on the tank. - for sale thread to follow at some point. Popped the battery back on charge although I think itβs not very reliable (I didnβt fit this one and it doesnβt seem to hold a charge long) and I really want another Lipo from @Luke Algar I have my jump, pack on standby! Ran out of time, so a fire up tomorrow and try and set the mirrors. I could do with a rear view one now Iβve a cage. Im getting excited, itβs not been off the ramp since I brought it home.2 points

Hi @Andy_R. Hope life is good. Bought mine from Intatrim. Made to measure carpets although you will need to send a template. They also re-trim dashes. Might be worth a try. Good luck. Andrew2 points

Some of us from the Cheshire and N. Staffs area like to come over, too. Not had much chance though since the Autumn, with the various restrictions. Looking forward to heading over before too long, fingers crossed.2 points

I experienced the Westfield in all its glory today. Drove out with only a small amount of thought as to where to go. Driving through village after village. Taking in the scenery and waving to like mined owners, also gaining their slice of this beautiful day. Then it happened! Pulling away from a junction onto what was experienced as smooth & twisty road. The sound sun & handling produced an emotion I will remember for quite sometime.. All the best HB464432 points

Yes, thank you @Westfield Parts Dept for allowing me today to collect my windscreen and have a nosey nose around the factory. Mum is the word on that thingy I am not allowed to divulge!2 points

Any trimmer will have a carpet set done in no time. Especially if you can cut the carpets and take them in to be joined/edged. I've done it a couple of times and is at least half the price of buying a set. Must be a pain finding new suppliers for this kind of stuff for them to get up to speed and used to the patterns etc. It kind of sets alarm bells ringing though that WF seems to change its suppliers of everything from chassis' and bodywork down to trimmings on a regular basis.1 point

Ah that is a shame. Sourcing a new supplier can be a slow process with all the commercial arrangements, new tooling setups etc. A custom trimmer might be a quicker option for you if you can't find something suitable second hand? I used a guy in Hinckley to do my dash and he did a really good job. He said he'd done carpets for a Westfield before, but I've no idea if it was wide/narrow etc. so even if he kept a template from it, I'd imagine you'd have to bring your car down to him to measure up.1 point

Sorry to read this @Andy_R Have you watched this weekend's release of project Binky? They recommend the carpet they've used. Could work for you?1 point

Airbags can only go off it they are subjected to an electrical charge or heat. They are actually designed to off in a fire because deployment neutralises the hazardous chemicals they contain. They won't go off if you knock them, drop them, hit them with a hammer etc. I know this for fact because I used to work in car recycling1 point

yep. we used to do that... we had a competition to see who could hang them on the roof of the unit. We had a perfectly depurated tecknique with cables positioning to avoid having them tangled as the device was flying and taking some momentum out... Also the orientation was important as if you lay them perfectly flat they don't fly in vertical, and customer cars used to be a few meters away. (yes, this was a main dealer, and no, I'm not too old, so it was not that many years ago. It was in Mallorca, tho...)1 point

Of Course, if any drunken people were to get injured this has nowt to do with me.....π€£ That's the legal disclaimer side of things dealt with!1 point

We used to have too deploy any airbag(s) being returned under warranty.....oh, we had fun!! Fortunately I have never had to rely on one in a collision. I remember some numpty set one off with the airbag side facing down....(should be deployed in a cage), it went higher than the roof of the workshop and landed a fair distance from where it set of on its final journey! bl**** scary really when this is a short distance from your face! So long as the battery is disconnected than all should be fine, and to be honest we waited a minute or so before disconnecting them, most manufacturers will state wait for 10-30mins for any residual voltage to be discharged.1 point
