Camper van/caravan fittings suppliers are great for things like this, many sell via eBay, too, there are a few size variations from the typical door pocket size, to some tiny mobile phone/wallet sized versions, along with the bigger elasticated net types. Most of the door pocket types are variations on a plastic three sided frame, with a metal strengthener inside, the ones hovering around the 20/30 cm wide type, usually have five screw holes, for attaching them, two on each side, top and bottom, and one in the centre of the bottom strip. - I prefer this type for the tunnel and side panels, as nothing slips out the bottom if you overload them a bit. The only thing I'm not so keen on with these generic designs, (I've got at least two on each Westfield), is that "size" of the string mesh, it's a very large open netting, which does catch things a bit when putting solid items with corners in the pockets. (Cloths and screen wipes are fine). I've not seen any details yet, but I notice Soft Bits are starting to advertise a new mesh pocket product. Certainly the mesh pockets on their tunnel bags are much closer to what I'd prefer, although they may not have the nice plastic frames.1 point

Can I please draw all members attention to the two threads in the Members Only section, here: Notice of AGM Club Elections As there is no clear indication of what will or won't happen this year on the Stoneleigh front, (we're currently assuming it will either not happen, or be highly scaled back), we don't want to get stuck in last years position of constantly having to re-schedule the AGM, bouncing it around from potential event, to potential event. We also understand that we have a large number of members who may be uneasy at attending large gatherings for some time to come, yet. The committee has therefore decided to repeat the virtual AGM style meeting again this year. It will be via Zoom, (precise time, and how to join the meeting details released a little nearer the time). The AGM will be late afternoon, on Saturday the 22nd May. All members are welcome to join in!1 point

Iβve just bought the 3M heavy and fine Marine GRP cutting compounds, to do the final step of bringing my blue car out of hibernation; mopping the bodywork, and blending in old and new. Not quite ready to do that stage yet, though may do the scuttle before the windscreen etc goβs back on. Will report back, once I've had a go with them.1 point

Thunder visited a record store I ran in Burton on Trent to promote latest album. Great hearing again. Big event at the time.1 point

Enjoyed them Trev.π It sounded like you were having some problems with the gear change in the first one? ..and the second one could have had a nasty ending! Lucky lucky lucky. 750mc have had a meeting there yesterday, .. hence lots of Hot hatch racers out for a practice.1 point

We've got some storage nets on the Merc that came as standard - just 4 hooks, one each corner, but they seem to work OK for small items. I could do with some storage in my Midlana too, only place that would take a storage net would be the tunnel sides, and that's only about 6" tall at the point it can be accessed...and by then, it's blooming' awkward to get to anyway. Suppose I could always attach some sort of bag to one of the chassis tubes. I had intended making a glovebox for it...but the area behind the dash is totally stuffed full of electrical gubbins, wiper mechanism, heater unit, wires..... No wonder it was so heavy, it's almost a solid lump.1 point

I have one of these from Soft Bits. It's rather nice and very useful - but not cheap. https://www.softbitsshop.co.uk/westfield-touring-tunnel-bag-rhd-or-lhd-565-p.asp1 point

Good morning everyone update and booking open for the JUNE "test" day at Kames track in Ayrshire on 6th June and We also have a Saturday / Sunday weekend (either day or both) on the 14th/15th August ( booking open end of June ) Details at present and are confirmed. Its a private day, cost is Β£450 divided by the number of cars. 9am -4.30pmthere is a clubhouse and kitchen. passengers allowed but all must wear helmets , cars must be safe It equates to approx 1 run per hour (1 run = out , flying and in lap) its a tight twisty track so ideally suited to our cars As places are strictly limited to 15 full days ( a half day is possible, so technically this would allow a couple more if some one wanted to do this) Spaces will be allocated on a first come first served basis with further interested folk added to a reserve list and given first refusal for august ( I think this is the fairest option) Booking and payment is through myself and I will coordinate this with the club. In the event of the day being cancelled I will organise either an alternative date or a refund as each individual wants. If an entrant cancels then he will receive a refund once his space is taken up. I will send payment options out as I receive confirmation of attendance with 15 cars this will be Β£30 each Hope your all well and look forward to catching up Regards Gary1 point

Some videos from the day The morning was a sequence of red flags: multiple stoppages because people knocked out corner markers, a Subaru that went up in flames (the driver pulled the extinguisher and left foam all over the track), A Subaru that mashed both ends . The afternoon was much quieter, a lot of people went home at 2pm... we stayed until 5pm Some fast Honda Civics, Evo and Subarus. Driving was good, except for a couple of dimwits who couldn't wait for the straights and tried to overtake on the outside of corner exits when you were running out to the kerb.. First Video are the in car cameras. edited from nearly 3 hours of footage...we had a good day Second Video is a Gopro ( which needs an external mic or wind protector). My mate Fred driving, who's much faster than me.....(a bottom clenching moment at 15.20)1 point

Great drive out on the Great Orme, Llandudno last night. Stopped on the top for a walk and took the QR steering wheel off for security. Put it back on and even joked I hope this does not come off on the blast down the Orme. Got to the bottom and thought I had a little play from a ball joint or something else, yanked the steering wheel backwards and it came off in my hands. Turned out it was not fully locked in, makes me shudder to think what might have happened on the tight bends going down the Orme. The learning is to triple check your QR wheel is fully locked in. π€ͺ1 point
