Well first impressions- wow love it , really enjoyed working on it as well, so good to work on such a simple car. Had a little drive yesterday on some local b roads loved it , but very bumpy and still quite chilly. I should have checked the tyre pressures before π they were around 27-28 psi dropped them down to 20 seems alot better π Today I cleaned the throttle bodies ( already done air filter) as I noticed at idle pulling up to junctions it stalled on me a couple of times , this seems to have done the trick. You have to rev it a tad when pulling off with this clutch but I guess thats to be expected. Certainly not a car you want to be stuck in traffic in, it is a track car I suppose. Had a little straight line test on a dual carriage way today and jeez , yes plenty fast enough π Had to head home once id seen the fuel gauge after that3 points

Love all these pictures, clearly expressing everyone's individual tastes. Hadn't thought of Lycra, My motorcycle jacket must weigh a couple of Kilos so that's not a bad idea. Not sure about the aero helmet, but I do wear my old open face and sunglasses when driving, to give more of a "Jim Clarke", "Graham Hill" vibe. I think a head fairing may be in order this winter. The front undertray fits closely around the sump so it can be sandwiched between the chassis and the body sides using the existing bolts. The rear undertray fits to the seat bolts on the chassis and then is cut around the wishbones and fixed to the body mounts on the rear chassis rails. This is because I don't like drilling holes in the chassis, so I use existing fittings. I have now finished the gold lining and it looks a lot better. My website that details living with a Westie is at www.10-42.com/westfield. AerodynamicBody.xlsx2 points

Ask to escalate the issue. They won't do a thing unless they really are pressed and they have acknowledged a potential infrastructure issue. As you/me/we are barred from talking to Openreach directly I'd press the ISP and maybe copy in the ombudsman with the admission of an infrastructure issue. And remember, the squeakiest wheel gets the most grease1 point

It's pronounced quite a few ways even in the local area! One of my college professors (who had lived in Loughborough their whole life) pronounced Lough like you would Cough, but the most common pronunciation is like Rough. The good old Loogabarooga, haven't heard that said for a fair few years now.1 point

If he's up for doing a deal but your respective 'valuations' are way off each other, one approach is for both of you to get two valuations (from surveyors/ estate agents etc), take an average of the lot, and see if you're both happy with the outcome. I've known this approach to work, and I've know it all go wrong!1 point

TableLeg as I understand it there are 40/10 and 80/20 connections either in the exchange or the cabinet. So if you drop from 55 to 40 your connections may have been switched then Plusnet switch it back when you complain1 point

Hi Just wanted to let everyone know about my local Motorshow https://www.hinckleybid.co.uk/whats-on/event/hinckley-bids-10th-annual-motorshow-1 You need to pre-register if you want to show your car Obviously didn't happen last year but in 2019 there were about 900 cars on show and around 20,000 visitors on the day. Great day out! Mark1 point

We tried to switch to Vodafone a couple of years ago. To cut a long story short, they total screwed up. They cut off our phone and broadband and gave away our phone number, because they forgot they didn't cover the area. Anyway once we had a nice long chat, they provided unlimited mobile coverage until we switched to another supplier and the financial compensation covered my broadband and mobile for about 18months. I'm with Shell energy now, nothing fancy it just works.1 point

Not saying your're not getting them. But you're not getting many. DOS (or DDoS) attacks are rarely launched against individuals. What you're seeing is likely bots scanning for "interesting activity" on a connection and probing the traffic. Nothing to worry about, unless it's coming from a rival gamer Don't buy a modem! If the router has an RJ11 connection for the phone line then it's a router/modem irrespective of how the vendor describes it. Router/modems are almost universally used and many router/modems can be placed in to modem mode, even ISP ones. I've never had an issue with an ISP supplied router/modem at home and my internal network is quite large. I don't game though so I can't comment on QoS for gamng, I've only ever (and rarely) used it for VoIP. With regards to QoS yes that's a useful feature for an internal network where streamed UDP traffic needs a high priority. For the avoidance of doubt though, once a QoS packet reaches the external interface of the router the QoS markings will be ignored so QoS won't help with any potential congestion on the public internet.1 point

Not sure where that graph came from but I'm about 1km from the cabinet and I get high 60's all the time. And for the absence of doubt, no matter who the provider is, it'll be the same physical copper in the ground (unless you have FTP as Hemsley mentions) so there is no such thing as switching to a "faster" provider. And the copper outside the house and all cables are owned by Openreach which is (or was) a part of BT. So irresepctive of the provider, if the works are outside the house, it'll be an Openreach or Openreach contractor who turns up. Stuart makes an interesting point. To me it seems like he has a recurring issue with his connection between his premises and the exchange. But as PlusNet respond positively it's less hassle than it might be BUT they don't seem to be fixing the root cause, so is that good customer service or bad? Resetting the DLM is much cheaper than geting Openreach to fix the problem so who's interests are being best served? And yes I do realise I am being cynical but as I have dealt with multiple ISP's for work, I know the high regard they have for their customers... On the other hand, I've been with Sky for nearly 13 years. I have no idea what their customer service is like because I never call them for broadband issues. And if I were to change I likely wouldn't call the "new" ISP either as we seem to have a very stable and capable infrastructure where I am. I could speculate that large ISP's like Sky and BT have the budget to ensure their systems stay error free as much as possible with pre-emptive maintainence programmes and equipment refresh plans whether the equipment is faulty or not. Smaller (by comparison) ISP's may not have this capability and I'm sure we could debate for ages the what/why/how of that. With regards to changing, if all things are equal then go for the ISP who ticks the most boxes. I tend not have any "add-ons" with my broadband. Most of the things an ISP offers can be found elsewhere and of course when contracts end they try to keep one tied in by warning that if the contract is not renewed these "add-ons" could be lost or curtailed, so I avoid the "value adds" becasue the value is to the ISP, not the customer... sorry, more cynicism...1 point

Always a tricky one buying land especially if asking landowner before on market and will be down to friendly negotiations. If successful do some research on land registration as there is only a few hurdle to go over and all are very reasonable i.e. Legal bill of sale and then Land registry is only about Β£50 and just requires letters of agreement from the neighboring properties - which you can do yourself.1 point

Here we are then , my first westy.π Really happy with the spec , st170 engine, willwoods, compomotive wheels, full cage, lsd, pretty much ticked the right boxes for what I was after. The colour I don't think I would spec but it will grow on me, possibly π Seems to go and stop well , cosmetically she won't be winning any awards right now, but Im more into driving than detailing. Hope to be getting it out onto some tracks this year π1 point

Definitely. Car will be 10 times faster... an 10 times lighter. With all the respects, this maths are bulls***. And reflects the reality of everyone pockets. You can justify throwing 100 quid to replace a perfectly functional part of your current car just because Msa has decided to steal the manufacturers with no addition to safety performance or lightness... Not only this. You compare throwing down the sink 100 quid against buying 2 glasses of wine along 10 weekends. But the reality is that you throw your 100 pounds down the sink. And no wine is given. And is not comfortably paid in 10 weeks. I don't know if your garden grows tenners... but mines definitely doesnt. I get that those are the rules. What i can't get is the acceptance and the normalization of being stolen... but when you assume 100 quid for a competitor should mean nothing, you have very little conscience of what club racing should mean. For this sort of rubbish, motorsport in spain is dead... they killed the best national hill climb championship in europe (aside of the eurpean) in the mid 2000's and the spanish manufacturers did left the national championship to compete abroad because of doing this sort of shady "certifications" not accepting CE approved components or rejecting FIA homologated stuff because wasnt from a paid supplier. Pretty much the same happened with rallyes... where we had more spanish teams competing in the ERC and WRC than in the actual spanish championship... witch was really sad. People quitting and rioting against the federation, triggered eventually a change. Silence and acceptance when being stolen and extorted only seeds the land for more extortion in the future. *EDIT.. any UN approved battery not exceeding 60 volts is accepted by FIA appendix J (or so i understand)... so we should be able to stick with a perfectly legal UN and FIA battery no matter what the msa says... i think.1 point

They say things come in threes, well after having to replace two "normal" cars I thought that would be it but no, along comes a visit to the vet for my partners dressage horse..... I'm not going to say what the final bill will be but the amount could have paid for an average to good Westfield and it's not finished yet. So the decision has been made to sell the Eleven, tears in eyes etc. The kit was purchased in 2016 and built up using parts from a 1970 Midget with V5 but no engine and after a brief spell powered with a 1.8 Zetec engine I obtained a 1700cc Crossflow engine from Mr T on the forum, so spec as follows: Kit from Westfield with the usual bits included, carpets,(unused), IVA headlight pods, (unused), Bucket seats, full body polish etc. Engine is a 1700cc crosflow with a big valve head and twin 40 Webers, new silvertop pump and Malpassi regulator, 234 fast road camshaft, stainless steel exhaust manifold coupled to a Westfield stainless steel silencer. The ignition is a 3d Motorsport Electronics Nodiz using a coil pack, map sensor and crank trigger wheel. The wiring was carried out by Hybrid Tune, up to final connection to lights etc but not connected and tested yet, so done professionally. The gearbox is a 4 speed Quaife dogbox bought from forum member and well looked after. The propshaft is a Baileymorris specially made item. The rear axle uses a 3J Driveline lsd and halfshafts Wheels are Minilight style with R888R tyres, only done one hill climb and one sprint. New bearings on all axles plus new king pins, new discs and callipers. New steering rack The original front clip was cut to allow for the taller Zetec engine but the car will come with an unused front clip,(needs to be painted) and an unused rear clip with the head fairing, again needs to be painted. The car has an Motorsport UK passport which shows the ROPS which will come with the car if needed. The car does not have an IVA cert but with some checking and connecting could easily be done plus all of the parts originally supplied with the kit are available All Invoices etc plus the V5 in my name are there. Putting a value on the car as it stands is difficult but having seen another similar I would be looking for around Β£13K but open to serious offers but not silly ones. Happy to answer questions via PMs.0 points
