They say things come in threes, well after having to replace two "normal" cars I thought that would be it but no, along comes a visit to the vet for my partners dressage horse..... I'm not going to say what the final bill will be but the amount could have paid for an average to good Westfield and it's not finished yet. So the decision has been made to sell the Eleven, tears in eyes etc. The kit was purchased in 2016 and built up using parts from a 1970 Midget with V5 but no engine and after a brief spell powered with a 1.8 Zetec engine I obtained a 1700cc Crossflow engine from Mr T on the forum, so spec as follows: Kit from Westfield with the usual bits included, carpets,(unused), IVA headlight pods, (unused), Bucket seats, full body polish etc. Engine is a 1700cc crosflow with a big valve head and twin 40 Webers, new silvertop pump and Malpassi regulator, 234 fast road camshaft, stainless steel exhaust manifold coupled to a Westfield stainless steel silencer. The ignition is a 3d Motorsport Electronics Nodiz using a coil pack, map sensor and crank trigger wheel. The wiring was carried out by Hybrid Tune, up to final connection to lights etc but not connected and tested yet, so done professionally. The gearbox is a 4 speed Quaife dogbox bought from forum member and well looked after. The propshaft is a Baileymorris specially made item. The rear axle uses a 3J Driveline lsd and halfshafts Wheels are Minilight style with R888R tyres, only done one hill climb and one sprint. New bearings on all axles plus new king pins, new discs and callipers. New steering rack The original front clip was cut to allow for the taller Zetec engine but the car will come with an unused front clip,(needs to be painted) and an unused rear clip with the head fairing, again needs to be painted. The car has an Motorsport UK passport which shows the ROPS which will come with the car if needed. The car does not have an IVA cert but with some checking and connecting could easily be done plus all of the parts originally supplied with the kit are available All Invoices etc plus the V5 in my name are there. Putting a value on the car as it stands is difficult but having seen another similar I would be looking for around £13K but open to serious offers but not silly ones. Happy to answer questions via PMs.2 points

1992 3.5 litre S8 Westfield. New FW main bodywork, with V8 nosecone and bonnet, and Westfield Aeroscreen. It has Carbon Mods front wings and a carbon dashboard. The engine has recently had a rebuild, and has been fitted with the latest 4.0 litre big valve heads, and Viper Hurricane camshaft. The car has new silencers, new arb, and 4 pot calipers. It is fitted with oil cooler and additional water cooling, for hot summer days when stuck in traffic. I have owned the car for the last 11 years, but I am getting too old now, and it is time for a younger enthusiast to take ownership. Looking for £13,000. PS not really standing on my head, don’t know what happened!1 point

IME you can haggle too. When my Plusnet contract was up last time I told them the best deal I could get elsewhere and they bettered it if I signed up for another 18 months1 point

I was in a similar situation, only able to use ISP over BT. No matter which provider I used, and despite some very good BT engineers trying to improve things (the same engineer irrespective of the provider) the service was mostly slow and very unreliable. My daughter was trying to study from home and it was incredibly frustrating for her. We are in a very rural location and fortunately for us a new fibre to the premises service was introduced. I switched last November taking advantage of an initial 12 month discount. After making sure it was all working ok I switched over to IP telephony and ditched the old broadband and landline. Even though it will become expensive, it works all the time and it's very fast.1 point

In answer to your question I think it depends on your connection. I have stuck with Plusnet cos I'm a kilometre from the FTTC cabinet over old copper and need an occasional DLM reset. So customer service is important and Plusnet have been great. But if you have a very fast and stable connection then you might be able to choose solely on price. Zen top the customer service ratings and they charge £30 per month.1 point

Can't wait. One of the best characters in TNG and played brilliantly by John DeLancie. That said I'm still reeeling from Jeri Ryan turning up in Series 1. I'm more in love with her now that before1 point

A lot of the bands I liked in the 80’s on there and hence I have many of those on vinyl and/or CD. I knew Bauhaus back in the day as they were the “college band” at Nene College Northampton in ‘78/791 point

I wouldn't worry about the difference between modem and modem/router. When you say "get ready for fibre" do you have fibre to the premises or is this the more usual fibre to the cabinet with the last mile being down the phone line? If I assume the latter then for me the choice is to go with BT's modem (not much wrong with them for the most part) or something towards the business grade items. I'm not a fan of the "pro-sumer" stuff with whizz-bang names and interesting lights and antenna arrays. They aren't really doing anything special. So with "business grade" in mind I'm a big fan of Draytek Vigor routers. I have a few out in the field in a variety of use cases and they have all been rock solid. The 2762ac would be a good choice and yes I have direct experience of them. The 2762 further down that page might be less costly and will be built on largely the same components. The differences for these and the higher end devices on the same page are firewall speed which is largely irrelevant unless the internet speed exceeds the firewall speed. I have also used (twice) D-Link VDSL routers with 3g/4g back-up (which the Drayteks also have if required) and whilst they wre not as heavily utilised, they were still efficient and reliable. Finally I have limited experience with the Cisco RV series of routers. Cisco call these "SMB routers" and to be honest whilst they will attract Cisco guys (I am one) having tried a couple of them I won't use them. Far to fiddly to set up for a small business and I've had one fail within a year. Not a large sample I grant you but I avoid them in favour of Draytek.1 point

On ADSL you could 'tune' the SNR on them which could help speed. Doesn't work on VDSL1 point

Another happy customer here... despite zero NCB (I'm keeping the tin-top and I don't have any spare NCB to use) Lisa found me a very decent quotation (with KGM Underwriting Services), so I'm ready to go. ish. Brakes, Speedo, IVA, etc permitting.... But hopefully off to a pre-IVA MOT very soon. Thanks, @A-Plan Insurance THATCHAM1 point

Welcome from another Nigel - we should start a sub-forum..... Your choice of cycle wings is three-way. Westfield do body-colour, which I'd guess most cars have. Then there's carbon-effect. These are simple ABS plastic and while they aren't particularly robust, they are quite cheap. Finally, there are genuine carbon cycle wings, which look really nice and are very strong (obv...) Bear in mind that there are a couple of different widths of cycle wing. My car has 195 section tyres and my cycle wings fit VERY snugly. I've just bought a pair of carbon wings which are suitable for up to 205 section, so they are a bit wider. Cycle wings occasionally come up secondhand in various conditions - good if you're handy with a spray gun, but you should know that colour-matching isn't easy - apparently Westfield's consistency with paint colours / codes is not great... Your first task though is to get the other parts needed - the cycle wing brackets and the modification of your headlamp brackets - once those bits are done, the cycle wings bit is just a bolt-on1 point

The biggest question is how much would the sale of this land devalue their property by? As you’ll need your offer to be higher than this for it to be worthwhile to to the neighbour. If their property has a mortgage then you’ll also need to factor this in to your offer and negotiations as the lender would have an interest if the value of the property they have lent against would go down.1 point
