Just got myself a new “touring” lid as I wasn’t happy with my previous Caberg due to it having the now typical protrusion at the back that most bike helmets seemed to have - and it’s a tad noisy. So after some research on “quietest helmets” I opted for a Schuberth C3 Pro. have to say it’s a quality bit of kit!4 points

Hello! The time has sadly come, with much regret, to sell my C20LET Westfield. I have always been a classic mini lover from when I was 16 years old, but sold my Mini Clubman Estate that I did a front engine Honda engine conversion on, to purchase this Westfield 5 years ago. I have now; however, found myself a potentially dream mini (which I have already purchased) that is a rear engined Honda K20 Z Cars Mini… I do hope that this will be as fun as the Westfield has been, but I can’t afford to keep both unfortunately! I have owned this Westfield SE Wide body since March 2016 and have spent a fair bit of money on it since then, for the most part fixing it up mechanically, as it had been neglected a bit and wasn’t in the best state, but have also made a few improvements too. Mileage is 8948 Has just been MOT'd (March) The spec is as followed: Engine Vauxhall C20LET (Calibra Turbo engine) Fully rebuilt in by Headshop UK in September 2016 SC Typhoon standalone ECU Mapped by EFI Parts – 288 bhp & 280 ft lbs of torque Turbo Smart Boost Controller C20XE Cam Shafts Forged Rods and Pistons VXR Injectors K16/26 hybrid turbo (KRS Turbos) - built September 2018 SBD dry sump kit Setrab Oil Cooler Custom made exhaust by JP Exhausts Drive chain Sierra Cosworth T5 Gearbox - rebuilt by A.P.F Gears August 2018 Sierra Cosworth rear LSD diff Heavy Duty Clutch Cover Cerametallic Paddle Clutch Plate – new in 2019 O.Z. Racing Wheels Body Caged roll cage Carbon flared side panels (original side panels cut out to improve cooling) Fiberglass seats (some cracks in them) Most of the interior is custom made Carbon Fibre Battery mounted in passenger footwell Stack Dash Zeitronix Wideband Lambda sensor and gauge Peddle box from a Formula 1 Tyrell driven by Martin Brundall (sounds cool if nothing else?) Suspension/Steering Titan custom steering rack – rebuilt by them in 2017 Corner weighted and tracked by Clear Motorsport (75KG in drivers seat) Weighs 600KG without a driver Brakes Comp B16 Front Brakes This car was built by a guy on this forum to race in the sprint series back in 2002; I have paperwork going back to 2003 for it, including an old MSA log book from 2006 (some old videos on Youtube). Body work wise, this Westfield is not in showroom condition, as it has been owned to be driven and does have the odd bit of minor damage to the fiberglass. I have also not taken it on track since I have owned it (MASSIVE regret that I am able to say this, but not worth the risk of me taking it now ☹). Bad points are that it does leak oil when sat for periods of time. The oil doesn’t go down at any great speed, so I do believe that it primarily leaks when it is just sat. It leaks from two places, the bottom off the oil tank due to the thread being damaged and there’s a slow drip from the pressure relief valve on the external oil pump (this seems to be a common thing). Due to the undertray on the car, this can make a bit of a mess on the base of the tray and where ever it is sat! The rev counter does not work on the dash (this has always been the case, but never bothered me enough to fix it!). The ECU does read the RPM, so will either be a wiring issue or a faulty dash unit. A bearing in the left side of the brake peddle has some play in it. There are a couple of bits of Fibre Glass on the body work that have smalls cracks and the Fibre Glass seats have a couple of cracks in them both. Hard to price such a car, but looking for £10,000. Serious buyers only please, no test pilots. I am sure that I will have forgotten bits, but any questions, please message on here or WhatsApp/text me on 07742109509. I am located in South Manchester. Cheers, James2 points

Not as daft as it sounds (really?) I’d love to own a Westfield; I’ve never ever sat in one. is there a kind owner who lives in the Swindon area who - with all possible COVID precautions - would allow me to try one for size? Would that be allowed in the present conditions even? I’m guessing it would have to be a wide body ... Kind Regards Hugh1 point

As some of you will know, I’ve had. Couple of Rangers now, a White 2.2 Limited, then a 3.2 Wildtrak, after a few problems and a new engine later I decided that my relationship with Ford would come to an end, I didn’t like the idea of the 3.2 being discontinued and replaced with a 2.0 bi-turbo unit, seems like I had listened to everyone who wanted to be negative, but very few who had actually tried one. Added with the fact that my local dealer had gone through some pretty major staffing changes (sacked all of the commercial team) and then COVID, I felt like the service just wasn’t there, so Toyota Invincible X was looking very attractive, both quality and financially, however the delivery times of November 2021 was a little disappointing. Out of the blue the New commercial guy from Ford called me after months of radio silence, I told him my hang ups on the smaller engine, and then he threw me a curve ball, ‘we’ve got one Raptor in the showroom, how about I do you a REALLY good deal?’ Offered a great deal on my Wildtrack 3.5 years old 44K mileage and I would have been daft to turn the offer down. So now I have this to drag the Westie about! I have to say, ear.y days but, the engine is awesome, no even better with my Bluespark box on it increasing the torque to 570nm and BHP to 260. The 10 speed gearbox is so much better than the old one, the Raptor has Fox coil suspension all round and improves the ride, plus rear discs instead of the old drums just top the driving experience off nicely. I suppose my point is, don’t always listen to the negatives and rule something out, go and see for yourself and make an educated decision. I nearly missed out! Hopefully the reliability will be better than the last one, I’ve got this for around another three and a half years again.1 point

I think I managed to hide my reply instead of edit. Is it still not classed as personal use though? If theres no 'reward' involved it's not a commercial vehicle?1 point
-
That's if it's a private vehicle not commercial and I thought that 4 door pick-ups were now in commercial category, plus if private the restriction they stated is 62 miles from registered address.1 point

I've used Billion modem routers for years now and think they're great. Very interrogatable. I also got 3 Deco E4s recently but actually found it better to keep using the Billion as the router and just use the Decos in access point mode.1 point

Have you got to pay for the fibre modem or does your provider supply that as part of your rental. The routers which are built into most 'free' modem are basic and not the best. I recently upgraded to TP Link Deco Mesh items and put my virgin media modem/router into modem mode and the TP link is the router.1 point

btw, is the hitch drop plate standard now? When I had a Ranger it was too high, and didn't suit my Alko hitch1 point

You're definitely not alone, but I also see engine damage complaints from re-mapped cars (a pet hate of mine), so please be careful 🙂1 point

Love it! I'd remove any mention of chipping though in case you need engine warranty as it could be a very likely reason for damage...1 point

I don't personally but for anything that matters I have always used a facility called "fixed fee interview" at an appropriate solicitors. This is a meeting (usually an hour) whereby you can discuss the issue and be advised as to potential next steps and chances of success etc. I've done this three times for property, powers of attorney and... er... something else and it has always been money well spent that DEFINITELY spared me from greater expense further down the line.1 point

You can try Europa Spares too. They have a good selection of classic style wood and leather rimmed wheels 👍1 point

I agree.. My mum has some land outside her house that she has looked after for fifty plus years.. anyway it was offered to her fifteen years ago but it was too expensive and she didn't need to buy it.. She heard that the owner was selling some other land..so she put an offer in and after a little bit of haggling a deal was done.. So I think it is definitely worth a try..no harm done..and I am sure if you do it in correct matter as Blatters has suggested then definitely worth a go..1 point

If you google 13” wood rim steering wheel or 14” there’s a lot of choice mine was a 14”1 point

Have a look on Car Builder Solutions - various diameters of wooden wheels on there. I bought one for my Cobra build and am very pleased with it1 point

You've done the right thing by joining the club first. You may have to be patient initially, but by late May I think the various areas of the club are likely to start face to face monthly meetings again, and if you find out which your nearest area is, contact the area organizer of that area and arrange to meet up with them. That way, you are more than likely to get a ride in a Westfield, never mind just sitting in one!1 point

I'd also be prepared for fall-out! He may be angry that you are trying to "land-grab" or possibly annoyed that he didn't think of it first, or annoyed that he can see a loss of value to his property or anything else that he might conjure up, whether real or imagined. This could cause resentment and make any future dealings with the owner very difficult indeed. I'd make the initial approach as gentle as possible!!!1 point

Hugh I've just added your location to the title. You can meet people outdoors etc, so I'm sure it's possible with sensible covid precautions as you suggest.1 point

The conversion can be done and was completed many times last year. You need to modify your current cycle wing / head lamp bracket, install cortina cycle wing bracket and new cycle wings. We have an image we can send showing where you need to modify your existing bracket.1 point

The value is what you want to pay..what it is worth to you..and that's it... You don't know the land lords position..he maybe happy with an extra grand for example.. Guy near us bought a strip of land for £1000 as the farmer happy to sell it.. I would say see what you want to pay and try it..but of course allow for solicitors costs etc1 point
-
I did that with a common area in my estate... i can tell you nothing about the land cost, BUT you are looking at 2, 2.5k in legal fees for starters. I have no clue how it works, but i just know that buying a portion of a property comes out like 3 times more expensive than buying the whole property when it comes to processes...1 point

The domestic land value estimate for chesterfield is around £970,000/ha but that assumes you’re buying a reasonable amount. In reality I would expect the real value to be more like 5-10 times that so £500-£1000/m2. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/land-value-estimates-for-policy-appraisal-20191 point

The biggest question is how much would the sale of this land devalue their property by? As you’ll need your offer to be higher than this for it to be worthwhile to to the neighbour. If their property has a mortgage then you’ll also need to factor this in to your offer and negotiations as the lender would have an interest if the value of the property they have lent against would go down.1 point

Spoke to A plan and got a real good renewal price compared to A flux from last year, will def recommend them, as it saved me almost £50 Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, just rechecked the A plan policy quote against my current A flux cover, and it does not cover breakdown or personnel accident etc. New quote arrived from A Plan, so that it is like for like, and its more than A flux, so I wont be changing this time around.1 point
