  3. Here we are then , my first westy.😁 Really happy with the spec , st170 engine, willwoods, compomotive wheels, full cage, lsd, pretty much ticked the right boxes for what I was after. The colour I don't think I would spec but it will grow on me, possibly πŸ˜† Seems to go and stop well , cosmetically she won't be winning any awards right now, but Im more into driving than detailing. Hope to be getting it out onto some tracks this year πŸ‘

  5. Hello all! I have been searching for a while for the right seven kit car and settled on a '97 Westfield SEW. I moved over from the US recently and it is very difficult to get such a car there which is part of the reason I had to get one. The car has a 2.0 Redtop that was rebuilt with Kent Cams a few years back making 140bhp. There's some small jobs that need to be done on the car, including; fuel sender, paint correction, hood refurbishment, etc. that I have begun working on. I am hoping to meet you all at the events later this year! Is anyone from around the Cambridge area?

  6. It’s considerably more sophisticated. (As much as I love the V6 setup). It offers, reading the (actually intelligible) instructions, a (slightly convoluted) four way simultaneous intercom option, or a simple 3 way simultaneous option. The master headset, has two simultaneous Bluetooth channels connected to the other two headsets, in three way mode. So all three are in group communication. However, one of those other two headsets, can have another headset paired to it. So in a group of four, master headset would initiate comms to 2 and 3, then 3 would add comms to 4! Very neat. There are sets that will do it other ways, but the price jumps quite a bit. What sounds interesting with this approach, is that if, say, headset 3 is linked to 4, then it also acts as a range extender, so lead rider/car to vehicle 4, could be closer to 2.4 km in open terrain! (The best of the systems I’ve seen do this between every headset, forming a mesh network between the group, from first to last. But that was expensive technology, last time I looked, a few years ago.)

  7. I have friends that swear by Cardo products whilst biking. They produce good gear. I looked at such things years ago. However, when I suggested to my wife that we used one, she said she speaks with me enough, and enjoyed the peace when riding with me.

  8. I just work on the principle, if they want the car they will buy it, there and then... no time wasting. As soon as they start the silliness. I make it very clear I’m not interested. If they make a silly offer take it lightly as it’s just a game. I was selling the wife’s Corolla and 4 Irish sounding guys arrived.. told me it had been a right off... BS. It was worth Half the asking price. Slightly intimidating but I just locked it and made it clear if they want it this is the price if not move on. My old Vectra diesel. A Eastern European guy arrived in a BMW, blacked out windows. He looked briefly in the Car, then looked me menacing in the eye , asked if it was any good like a Bond Villain. My answer.. it’s never let me down in 70k but could blow up tomorrow for all I know. The envelope came out of his pocket , paperwork done and his rather fancy lady friend got out the BM and drive off. ... it’s a game!

  9. Hi there. Im James from Loughborough in Leicestershire. Been lurking a week or so just trying to learn a bit more about westfields before I make a purchase. Ive decided to get back to basics car wise and the westfield certainly ticks that box. Im coming from an audi RS6 so slightly different ha . Loved it but really felt the need for a car more involving for weekend fun and something that I can work on myself. Hopefully look to get a car over the next month or so cheers James

  10. I think so, I have an old printout saying it made 140 to the wheels but that was before the cams and retune. Yes I work over at Mildenhall

  12. Welcome! I was born in Cambridge and lived in the area for many years but moved to the North West a while ago. Plenty of fantastic roads (and pubs) to explore in a Westfield round there though. Enjoy!

  14. If using helmets then the Sena I use is great. I have a spare one you can try if you want (not been used for a while so covid safe) - you can test it via a mobile call or music to see if quality suits.

  15. That looks like a very expensive V6 intercom, same range, 4 riders etc. A normal V6 can be bought off amazon, ebay etc for about Β£80 a pair.

  16. Im not familiar with that model but be careful if you want more than 2 people linked. Some systems require you to press buttons for comms between more than 2, whereas the 2 people setup normally lets you use "open mike"

  17. This stuff off ebay, had the cover sand blasted first followed by a good jet wash and once dry gave it a wipe over with acetone before spraying.

  19. Just tell em to bog off. If you want the car it's £££ or don't bother contacting me. Some people are just a********s when it comes to buying cars. I tend to be overly honest when selling to cover my A*** but some use that as a list to knock the car even though most buyers wouldn't even notice. The last used car I bought I arranged to go view it, the guy must have text me 6 times throughout the day to check I was still going and when I got there he apologised as he'd had so many timewasters not show up.

  20. Been searching for ages to find an OBD11 plastic cap cover, It was commented on during my IVA test. Should have a cover on to prevent sharp corners. Me and others have been trying to find these simple black covers for ages. Now I have finally found a supplier. Delphi Sicma Series Automotive Connector Backshell Protective Cover, 12146933 | RS Components (rs-online.com) Β£1.30 each plus vat plus delivery. not that cheap due to delivery and vat, but at least I have found a supplier.

  21. Heroic choice. I did exactly the same last summer, jumping in with a 1993 V8 powered ex-hill climb race car, with 255bhp. It's been great fun so far and I trust your experience will be similar.

  22. Welcome James, I'm not far from you in Swadlincote. You will get loads of friendly helpful and advice on here, it's a great club and forum. Now restrictions are easing, there's quite a few of us relatively local to you that I'm sure would show you around their cars to help you decide what you want in a socially distanced manner πŸ‘
