Hello all! I have been searching for a while for the right seven kit car and settled on a '97 Westfield SEW. I moved over from the US recently and it is very difficult to get such a car there which is part of the reason I had to get one. The car has a 2.0 Redtop that was rebuilt with Kent Cams a few years back making 140bhp. There's some small jobs that need to be done on the car, including; fuel sender, paint correction, hood refurbishment, etc. that I have begun working on. I am hoping to meet you all at the events later this year! Is anyone from around the Cambridge area?4 points

Well I don’t like tempting fate as I don’t actually own it yet but hopefully it looks like I will be shortly the proud owner of a yellow Westfield! Without being too sycophantic Dave seems like a great guy and he has a great car! I just hope he doesn’t change his mind!! Thanks for everyone’s advice one here up to now and my experience of meeting Dave ties in with with everyone I have dealt with in a ‘on-line’ format. Genuine and decent people. Just have to wait now until I can get it!4 points

Today my old laptop a Sony Vaio I7 Quad core got all upset, it seemed to be getting very hot and bothered, so I thought I'd strip it down to clean the cooling fan & heat-sink.... it's a simple process and I've done it before, but it's been a while since I did it last..... All went well, dust, fluff and all manner of rabbit & cat hairs, I was quite pleased with myself until I tried to remove the old heat transfer paste from the CPU, GPU and the underside of the cooler assembly, the paste that was on it should have wiped off.... but nooooooo it was like concrete, I tried to moisten it with a damp cloth, yeah right like that worked.... NOT. I went off in a grumpy search for some switch cleaner / solvent / WD40...... now if any of you are like me and talk to yourselves whilst mooching about for stuff that you've 'put safe', you will know exactly how the 'expert opinion' creeps in...... with none of the aforementioned safely stored stuff coming readily to hand there formed on my lips the words errmmmm wait a minute, I wonder if Carb cleaner will shift it...... Well I've never seen anything like it, totally amazing, it didn't just shift it, it vapourised it..... I'm chuffed to bits, the Sage on the other hand is mightily p******** off at the pong de "DriveTec Carb Cleaner" it really is loitering in the house.... I probably should have gone to the shed to play ! Nem.........3 points

Thanks for all replies. It was definitely a heart ruling head moment, purely for the V8! I sent the seller a message a couple of days ago asking for more info and photos but no reply. And the bid has already exceeded what I was willing to pay, so I'll be giving this one a miss.3 points

I just work on the principle, if they want the car they will buy it, there and then... no time wasting. As soon as they start the silliness. I make it very clear I’m not interested. If they make a silly offer take it lightly as it’s just a game. I was selling the wife’s Corolla and 4 Irish sounding guys arrived.. told me it had been a right off... BS. It was worth Half the asking price. Slightly intimidating but I just locked it and made it clear if they want it this is the price if not move on. My old Vectra diesel. A Eastern European guy arrived in a BMW, blacked out windows. He looked briefly in the Car, then looked me menacing in the eye , asked if it was any good like a Bond Villain. My answer.. it’s never let me down in 70k but could blow up tomorrow for all I know. The envelope came out of his pocket , paperwork done and his rather fancy lady friend got out the BM and drive off. ... it’s a game!1 point

Just tell em to bog off. If you want the car it's £££ or don't bother contacting me. Some people are just a********s when it comes to buying cars. I tend to be overly honest when selling to cover my A*** but some use that as a list to knock the car even though most buyers wouldn't even notice. The last used car I bought I arranged to go view it, the guy must have text me 6 times throughout the day to check I was still going and when I got there he apologised as he'd had so many timewasters not show up.1 point

Perfect, exactly the sort of information the (collective) we need! Though in the past, someone else did report issues. It sounds like it’s possibly more down to variations in how the tub is fitted, than the actual body type itself?1 point

I saw this, shame there aren’t a load of local hotels already, say at the airport 5 mins away!1 point

Oh and the kit lid also offers a smidge more storage as you can push stuff into the void created by not having the dip.1 point

That is identical to my kit bodywork boot lid. If you're looking for one, don't get too hung up on the zk / kit bodywork thing unless you have inertia reel belts. I swapped from the kit boot lid to a zk on my kit bodywork and the shape difference is so minimal you really would be hard pushed to notice.1 point
