Silverstone is like a slightly wider, flatter, less interesting, Tesco car park. Don’t bother.2 points

Just got a call from Knockhill. My place is confirmed 😃 They said that everyone would be emailed three days before the event with the paperwork to be filled in. I mentioned that some of us were on tour and may not have great signal, but that we'd call if we didn't receive them or had any trouble filling them in and returning to them.2 points

Hi chaps some of you may recall me from the early days on here , not been around here for I think 8 years not sure where that time has gone likely the same place as my hair and 6 pack never to be seen again. Anyway 8 years ago I sold my last 7 to go and race tin tops and thought I was done with that episode but last year I made a return and built myself another 7 to do Trackdays sadly with the covid carry on didn't really get out to use it much but hoping to make up for lost time and get out on track . If it’s early to mid nineties, it’s probably the earlier Kit Bodywork version, (not sure if the ZK was ever made without the inertial reel mounts, but I suspect it wasn’t, which would also point to it being kit bodywork.1 point

With thanks to the WSC Parts store, here are the main GRP parts... The frame part screws down to the top of the rear tub, over the normal boot box.it fits around the standard (un-braced) roll bar. It has grooves moulded into it for the hood frame (if you have one), to fold down into. This is the lates ZK type shown, so it also has that stepped section at the front, where you would attach inertia reel seat belts, if you had them. (Note, early lids and frames don’t have this recess for seatbelts, so don’t worry if you see both types.) The lid section is then attached via a pair of hinges, to the back of the frame. (It opens up backwards, if you see what I mean, so as to clear the hood frame.) And here it is, in place in a car. It’s an extremely fiddly moulding to make - especially the frame, so I’m guessing the laminators are charging Westfield big bucks now, to try and discourage people from buying. But, the lid system work so well, it’s a real shame. Mine was so much better than just a vinyl tonneau cover, on my old ZK type tub.1 point

Thanks Stuart. It's sorted now as I found that the issue I was having lay elsewhere in the system. Thank you though.1 point

December 5th, 2020 Spend: £0.00 Using the cardboard templates, and having measured it over and over, I 3D printed a little template that will allow me to transfer the hole for the rear stays onto the composite aluminium panel I ordered for the boot lid. Also threaded the brake light cable through the roll bar December 12th, 2020 Spend: £0.00 Long day in the garage cutting the boot lid. A week later than initially planned, but it had arrived damaged, so I was waiting for the seller to respond to my concerns. The 3D printed templates worked perfectly. The composite aluminium panel can be cut with a sharp blade, and is very easy to shape (but time consuming!). December 13th, 2020 Spend: £37.28 Got new reverse and fog lamps delivered as well. Going for that purple/black look Just the rear light units to replace now. Then it was back to the boot lid creating the harness mounting points. December 19th, 2020 Spend £5.93 Removed the protecting film, and it was clear that a few scratches were visible, so have arranged for the seller to send me a new panel. I'm not going to wait for it though, as I've got some black paint that I can use on it. We'll see tomorrow how they turn out. December 20th, 2020 Spend: £18.29 I was slightly disappointed to discover that they dried up more grey than black. Got new paint from Toolstation and am trying again. This looks better already, but I find it hard to get a nice even coat. December 21st, 2020 Spend: £0.00 Another coat of paint December 22nd, 2020 Spend: £0.00 Yet another coat. If this doesn't cover it, I will never get it right. I hate spray painting. Won't see the results until 2021 as the weather is going rapidly downhill and time has to be spend with the family over the Christmas period. Last month: £ 267.86 This month: £ 61.51 ----------+ Total: £ 329.371 point
