  1. Due to the current efforts of @marcusb, @OldStager and @Kevin (Mr T) I have come to the difficult decision to sell my modeling equipment. I can't compete with their efforts. I'm open to offers, but all must go.

  2. As some of you may know, I recently treated my 2.0 Zetec engine to a set of cams and managed to get some very respectable gains. Well, I figured it wasn't enough, so following some info on how a Ported head would help, I figured it would be rude not to. First stage was to get down to some porting, so I used these: After a good scrub, it was back on the dyno - and the results were beyond my expectations - see green power plot below... Next upgrade, an exhaust made from carbon nano tubes - watch this space.

  5. Quite literally this mod is off the charts! I ve bought two packs just off this Dyno plot. However we all know Power is nothing without control Mr King. I've just got back from Millbrook and I ve had spectacular results by placing bars of this round the bodywork My car sticks to the road like glue now , admittedly it's not so great in direct sunlight..but it's quite handy if you get peckish ๐Ÿ‘

  6. Hi all, I thought I better introduce myself and my zetec westy, as I have been a member for a little while and even though I have had a few issues initially ... I am getting to realise that it is all part of the fun....๐Ÿคจ Based near Maidstone, Kent Stu

  7. Had a big day yesterday collecting my new car from Scotland. Big thanks to @Rush Motorsport for the trailer hire. Its a 2005 SEiW Sport 2000 duratec. 6k miles. Lovely condition generally. Itโ€™s need MoT and tax so today I clayed, machine corrected and then machine polished it on the drive. There were lots of fine minor imperfections but I got them all to a point Iโ€™m more than happy with.....even got the thumbs up from my three year old ๐Ÿ˜€ Roll on MOT and tax now!

  9. Sorry to hear this Robin. Can I have a brushful of amber paint please, I don't need the full can just a brush ( thin one) with paint on the tip. Also one of the Johnson & Johnson ear buds, saves me buying a whole new boxful. Can pay in Euro's or I have a cracked coffee mug as a swap, leaks a bit but if you drink the contents fast enough it does not leak that much.

  12. Oh yeah. More grip = more treadwear! e.g. Toyo T1R's don't wear out and don't grip!

  13. Hi All, Following up from my introductory post in 'The Start Line' I am currently looking to get my first Westfield but there doesn't seem to be a huge selection out there currently. I am not too picky about what I am after other than I don't really want a BEC at this time but other than that I am pretty open to whats out there. My 'ideal' spec would probably be a modern-ish 2L on TB's however I don't have any specific requirements as to whether that should be a zetec, duratec, XE etc....Also I wouldn't let carbs put me off either, and as I say that is 'ideal' and I am open to whatever people have within reason. Car will mainly be used for road use but with the intention to at some point do the odd sprint and hillclimb so a decent cage or roll bar would be a bonus but is certainly not a deal breaker. I am also fairly slim so I don't think the width of the car is too much of an issue for me either! Although I plan to do some tinkering I am probably looking for something that is closer to a finished car of a good standard rather than a project I am based in the North West and although I can travel I have three young children so I don't have a huge amount of time to be travelling around the country so something 'up north' would be better! Thanks very much and hopefully there will be something out there for me! Alex

  22. Be careful using treadware indicator numbers alone though. They aren't always truly representative. Especially for performance/trackday tyres commonly sold in the US market. (One of the US motorsports governing bodies used the treadware index to try and block certain high grip tyres a few years ago. and low and behold the manufactures involved "re-formulated" the tyres compounds and now sells them with a higher treadware index, that is allowed. Except that most that use the tyres reckon there is absolutely no difference in times, feel, grip etc, and all they did was change the number!)

  32. No (generally - but may differ brand to brand)

  33. In terms of numbers, the lower number = more grip. 80-100 is trackday or wet whereas 200+ is road use. (Generalisation)

  34. Common ailment known as Westfield Nose, stops you from breathing at speeds over 60 mph. ^ This. Perspex side screens cures it. I havenโ€™t driven with doors since I got the side screens. So do some of the owners... or maybe one or two of the owners choose aero screens and wear full face helmets because theyโ€™re ugly and donโ€™t want to scare small children? (Not you of course @Rush Motorsport )

  35. Wouldn't have made any difference if we were still in. We acted independently to procure vaccines whilst still in the EU. Any of the EU countries could have done the same. In fact if we were still in, the EU couldn't play the silly childish games in preventing shipments to the UK and we'd arguably have even more vaccinated. Agree wholeheartedly with the sentiment of your post though. They've done very very well with the rollout. These days we only tend to hear of criticism rather than praise. Needs to work both ways.
