Hi everyone thought I would introduce myself. I'm Dan and lice just outside Maidstone in Kent. This is my first westfield (well first kit car acutally). Finally picked up a 2.0 Duratec sport 2000 last week after a year of looking while I built my new garage. Hasn't been the smoothest of starts as I broke down on the way home due to alternator failure and after I fitted a new one the lambda sensor had broke and made the car run really bad. I am still working on getting a new lambda but for now I have just unplugged it. Looking forward to the warm weather coming next week for my first real drive in it :). Be good to meet up and drive with some of you guys in the up coming months when we can. The only pics I have atm are unfortunately on the side of the m25 in the rain and sat in the back of the garage so they will have to do for now haha.4 points

Hi everyone, after many years of looking, thinking and pondering I have finally pulled the trigger and bought my first Westfield. She’s called Meg, is and sei with a dunnel 2.0 16v zetec and I’m in love! I’m looking forward to when restrictions lift and getting out for some proper drives and meeting lots of like minded folk regards, Andy2 points

To hopefully help the sale... I have a similar machine and while technically you are supposed to use a 32A supply, it can be run on a normal 13A plug providing you aren't using the machine right up at the top end of its power. For car stuff that works fine - 3mm aluminium might be welded around 140A and 2mm steel around 80A (machine max is 220).2 points

Yesterday and as planned the new roll bar was fitted. the back stay is still yet to be made but the fabricator will be coming back to fit that and also repair a lot of the cracks and damage to the chassis once it’s all been shot blasted which hopefully will be it’s next stop later this month. A big thanks to JMW motorsport for helping to organise this. In case you’re wondering what the internal pyramid structure is, this replicates the crash pylon that Costin originally designed for the car. To my knowledge the Costin Amigo was the only other car to feature such an unusual safety feature.2 points

If you remember quite a few months back I posted about if we should bring Zamp Helmets on as a manufacture. Since then we have been in talks with Zamp to try and get some decent terms sorted and we are pleased to say that are now a Zamp dealer. We are only carrying the new Snell SA2020 and FIA8859-2015 helmets. Part of the agreement to the new terms means that I still have to place an initial stocking order in order to supply (which is usual) However in the interest of treading carefully during this pandemic and instead of ordering blindly, I wanted to know if anyone on here is in the market for a Zamp helmet which could help form part of our stocking order with them? If I can get a list of confirmed orders on here for Zamp helmets then I can put together our inital purchase order for the helmets and get them out to you. We are offering a never expiring WSCC discount for Zamp for all WSCC members .. First though, we are offering a one time bigger discount for people than can help us with the initial order. If you are looking to purchase a Zamp helmet with our first PO then please reply to this thread first with what model and size you are after. Then after a week or so, if there are members wanting a Zamp helmet, I will activate the stock on the website and give the go ahead so you can order the helmet of your choice and I will place the order with Zamp all in one hit. You can find all of the Zamp products we will be selling here.. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask me on PM or on this thread Cheers everyone1 point

Welcome, lovely looking car despite the damp M25 backdrop! Hope you get it sorted soon, but it wouldn't be a Westfield if something didn't drop off now and again, its all part of the fun.... Up in the Peak District, there is much merriment when passing on the "magnet of shame" when the inevitable happens. A photo of me gladly passing it on (I'd lost an ARB drop link a few weeks prior) to Chris on one of the rare runs out last year after he'd lost a headlight... about 2 weeks later it was in Andy's hands when he broke a wing stay.... no doubt I'll have it back at some point 😂1 point

My ex racecar has expanding foam between the sides of the body and the sides of the chassis. I assumed it was either for strength or to stop it filling of crud. Expanding foam is used alot as an adhesive nowadays1 point

I'm getting closer to taking the body off my Westie, ready for fresh paint and general tidying up of the scratches and cracks in the gel coat. The front end of the tub has already been hacked off ahead of the bulkhead, ready for flared side panels. The scuttle is off. the bootbox is out. Just a few rivets to drill out along the bottom chassis rails, plus the handful of fixings across the back panel. Except that when I got under the car to take the rear panel fixings out, there weren't any, but there was an awful lot of this.... Expanding foam - horrible stuff and probably not meant for automotive applications... There's at least as much again between the back panel and the fuel tank that I'll have to scrape away once the body is off. I guess it stopped the rear panel vibrating, but I'm sure it could have been done a tad more elegantly....0 points
