  1. Hi everyone, after many years of looking, thinking and pondering I have finally pulled the trigger and bought my first Westfield. She’s called Meg, is and sei with a dunnel 2.0 16v zetec and I’m in love! I’m looking forward to when restrictions lift and getting out for some proper drives and meeting lots of like minded folk regards, Andy

  3. Yesterday and as planned the new roll bar was fitted. the back stay is still yet to be made but the fabricator will be coming back to fit that and also repair a lot of the cracks and damage to the chassis once it’s all been shot blasted which hopefully will be it’s next stop later this month. A big thanks to JMW motorsport for helping to organise this. In case you’re wondering what the internal pyramid structure is, this replicates the crash pylon that Costin originally designed for the car. To my knowledge the Costin Amigo was the only other car to feature such an unusual safety feature.

  6. @GaryD1971 When Karl tried the new ECU on ours it took moments to put the map in, recalibrate the load sites then test it. I don’t recall if he used a map conversion tool or if it went straight in, but worst-case, you could just re-enter it manually. That said, I’d imagine transferring the map would be part of the service, but you could always ask the experts to confirm. ETA I can’t see why it would need any mapping after a swap, but again, ask the experts

  7. One of my very favourite tracks of my teens, at that point in time I had just started working, and getting involved with an electronics company I discovered that putting an LED across the terminals of a speaker, it would make it flash - who knew ?... I didn't ,but soon had loads of 'disco lights' in my bedroom and this was the go to track to get them flashing, lol.

  13. They are a bit heavy by today's standards and a bit tall, but they are bullet-proof. My dad and I fitted an 18R-GR and W50 box into my Chevette in the late eighties.

  14. I'd suggest the LED panels too, as I have them in my garage and love them. The units I have are less than 10mm thick, so give maximum ceiling height, and 600mm x 600mm. Dead simple to wire in in place of existing tube lights. I have 8 panels in my 9M x 3ishM garage, and whilst I may put something extra over the workbench for dedicated task lighting, the rest is like daylight!

  17. I'd agree Chris, I'm sure Emerald would be more than happy to transfer Gary's map to the upgraded ecu and I don't suspect it would take long at all to do.

  20. Hello from a fellow searcher. Same position as yourself and after spending a lot of time looking I'm seeing one on Saturday, will be a 8hr round trip, even hired a transporter to collect it I'm that convinced it's the one for me. Good luck with your search, patience will pay off.

  21. Moved both tin-tops to A_plan last November while I was sorting insurance for the new build. Very competitive and very responsive too. I e-mailed them today with the registration number I just got from DVLA for the build and had a response, with updated documents, a couple of hours later. That said, we've insured the Westy with Adrian Flux from day 1, so that's 30 years now, and they've always been competitive.

  25. Just checked the ECU on ours...41256 Doh! Probably explains why I didn’t upgrade it at the time - it would have been an entire new ECU at rather more than £180. Ho hum, will have to live with the pops and bangs I suppose. They don't happen often since the diff swap though.
