you be glad to know i joined. Now just to find a decent car. Looking at the kits brochure the donor kits leave lots of old knackered stuff to be sourced from a donor car. Or you have to do a mx5 and get the top up kit, then fit it with the knackered stuff or spend alot of time cleaning the knackered stuff to make it good stuff... This then leaves you an bog standard car.. + knackered bits. Beginning to think I just want to buy a car to drive ๐4 points

Chocolate biscuits for the Emerald crew - check. Sarnies for me - check. Phone fully charged for pics and film - check. Update tomorrow evening!2 points

Listening to this on youtube is weird for me because I'm anticipating the glitch on my CD half way through where it starts stuttering and I have to leap over and skip the track ๐คฃ2 points

I'm glad you bought 'my Demo car' before I bought it, as I enjoyed my build! ๐2 points

I had s similar "dilema", as id set my heart on a build once retired. Then a wise old man said to me, "if you buy one you can put petrol in and begin enjoying it" I went to the factory, had a test drive then bought their demo car (which just happened to be for sale)... Ive never looked back. There's pleanty time for tinkering, servicing and upgrading but getting out on the road is where its at for me.....2 points

I didnโt buy the first one I saw. I bought the first one I didnโt see! I happened to mention to a friend living in Italy that I fancied a 7 type car and he said/admitted he had one in storage in the UK that heโd not used for a decade. So I agreed to buy it there and then, sight unseen. It so transpired it was lovely original SEiGHT from 1993, which after some modest recommissioning has proved to be awesome. But I accept that seeing a car for real, prior to purchase, is the more sensible option. (As a quick aside, last week I bought another car, sight unseen, as a partner for the Westy. Itโs a Maserati GranSport - the only UK one ordered in dark green. As a one-off, in the same colour as my SEIGHT, I couldnโt resist. So far, a week into ownership, it appears Iโve got lucky once again. But time will tell...1 point

Not legal or not advised? I mean is it enshrined in law that you canโt drive to a perfectly legal event?1 point

My story if it helps, wanted a 'kit car' on a budget i.e Robin Hood etc, just something to replace a motorbike, and didn't really like what I saw. Then decided to go with an accident damaged Westfield, however spoke to some local guys at a car meet, and also joined this wonderful forum and threw it out there just like your post. So your on the right track by being here! Great advise made me think twice about a damaged one, even more so because the seller is a bit shady as well! So scrap striping and rebuilding. I would consider building one from scratch, however time is just against me and my concern is that it would go on the back burner when life takes over, so I ended up lifting my budget and ended up with a great 2001 SEiW 2.0 Blacktop. I have carried out some upgrades but to be honest never really committed as I should, however up to the present day, I took the discussion to sell it last August, realised straight away I had made a mistake when it drove away, by pure chance it appeared on Facebook in a post in January from a guy who had traded it against another motor, but it appeared to have engine issues. I messaged him and told him its history, anyway, forward to this month, I contacted the guy to see if he had fixed and he hadn't, so deal done bought it back! Now with a revived passion for it Im steaming ahead with sorting it out properly this time. Moral?? Take your time, choose wisely, there are loads of great cars out there, or if you decide to build use the forum for help, advise and motivation if needed.1 point

Iโve loved building mine - then also loved driving it - then loved replacing and upgrading nearly all of it! Basically - I just love it ๐๐๐ but donโt tell the wife!1 point
