Almost finished my winter upgrades, Acquired a fully forged 1.8L Silvertop zetec with OJZ over bonnet exhaust system bought a new BGH Geartech E8 type 9 and a Quaife ATB diff. In Northampton motorsport today for a rolling road session and mapping to hopefully remove a flat spot and get it running to its full potential. Apparently there is a rumour going around that this is a hoax. I have checked my new unworn overall's which are still in the bag and they are the the same size as shown by the untouched label. However, I have had my first Covid jab which was painless but one of the side effects appears to be that body dimensions can be affected and this feature may not be reversible in the near future. Another side effect is that people who have had the jab are feeling thirsty all the time and water does not quench your thirst as only alcohol can solve that issue. Be warned `!!!!3 points

Had my first Oxford/AstraZeneca jab about 4 hours ago at my local chemist. Slick, efficient service, in and out in under 10 mins. No sitting around required although they did say don't drive for 15 mins. But rather than sit in my car I went for a walk. Better to get the blood moving I reckon... So far, no pain in the injection site and no general arm pain either. And I barely felt the injection at all. So for those who are nervous of needles (as I am) there is honestly nothing to worry about. I've hurt myself more having a shave...2 points

I enjoyed it! I've got simple tastes and take it for what it is. CHM got a bit too slapstick in the end and took the focus away from the cars, in my opinion.2 points

I've seen a fair few electrical bodges in my time playing with cars. Scotchlocks, twisted together wires etc. However today I've seen a whole new level. This is the connector to an electric water pump on a 6 series bmw. Yes that is a wood screw with the blue ecu signal cable wrapped around it and then into a corroded up choc block. The heavy gauge battery positive has a large section with bare conductor strands and the earth was clinging on for dear life who would ever actually think that's a good solution! The mind boggles.1 point

Bumper week of doses coming. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-56407251 As much as the government have made big mistakes throughout this pandemic. They seem to have done well with the rollout.1 point

Don't get me wrong I've watched from the beginning and even onto the grand tour and I've mostly enjoyed them. However watching the old ones on Dave does highlight Scotts point, some of the things JC said and did are far more cringe worthy now, when at the time of original broadcast he got away with it (mostly). His archaic attitudes to some of his female guests stands out too, I saw the rerun of the Amy Williams episode last week and it was embarrassing to watch. However TG isn't alone in that I guess with changing times and attitudes of whats acceptable or not. I wouldn't go that far. He did a very very good job until he pushed it too far. I actually think he does a really good job on who wants to be a millionaire however.1 point

It wasnβt so much βtheyβ as in the BBC, production team, crew etc, they could never really control him, before or after. The problem was leading up to and around the time of the India trip, was when his wife, the only one that could reign him back and steer him, finally got fed up of him, and his extra curricular activities and left; it was like the damming rods coming out of a reactor, he just built up and built up steam and it showed, as did his lack of judgement in the directions he followed.1 point

Cheer up lads, Iβve got good news - next season theyβve dropped Paddy and signed me up for two seasons! π The early season CHM ones were fine, but they allowed JC to run away with it as time went on. Casual and frequent βcomicβ racism, faked challenges, contrived slapstick and the terrible later foreign trips (the Indian one in particular, horrific in every way, like a It Ainβt Half Hot Mum with cars; and donβt tell me the FKL 982 number plate on the Porsche in Argentina was a coincidence) slowly ruined later series for me. TGT is just flat awful and shows CHM are past their sell-by dates as a trio. JC in particular now looks like a Cotswold-based Worzel Gummidge. Given the choice, I watch the current TG, but each to their own.1 point

Thank you everyone. Just thinking about getting the Westfield out, going for a blast to a country pub, having a meal and a shandy. Then maybe going to the cinema to see the new Bond film, having a pint on the way home but then reality sets in. I'll just put the telly on. Next year maybe?1 point

Smart car Andrew, the same age and model as my mates with the V8 in it now. The spec of mine, well this could go on for a bit, so will keep it brief. Engine was 1332cc, original block, 300deg piper cam, twin Delortos , extractor ex manifold, at the end it ran mapped ignition. Front susp, was 700Lbs springs over Koni dampers or were they Spax ? , rear was a 1500 swing spring with deleted leaves and stiffened to lower the car. An extra radius arm to control axle tramp to both sides ( same as what a WF uses really on a live axle). 4.55 diff from a Herald Estate ( LOL ) and by the end all the bodywork other than the floor pan was fibreglass.1 point

Love the Spitfire footage. As an ex Spitfire pilot I'd be interested to know the spec.. I had a couple of Mk 3s, one of which had, I think, a stiffer rear spring.. possibly shorter, and uprated shocks. It seemed to tame the rear tuck under quite well, and never had any worrying moments with it. Got no pics of the Mk3s but had this later one for a while as a toy. 1500 with O/D box.1 point

** SOLD ** Reluctantly I have decided to sell the Westfield I built in 2007 (registered in 2008). I hardly use it anymore and it just takes up space in the garage. It needs a loving home. For the build, I decided to keep everything as standard as possible. The entire kit was bought brand new from Westfield. Car Details: Β· Westfield Sport 2000 β SEiW β FW style bodywork Β· 200BHP Duratec engine with Webber throttle bodies (corrected) Β· Electric blue Β· Harness 4pt β black Β· 7 X 15 Black 1.2 Pro-race wheels Β· 195 X 50 Avon tyres Β· A/P Racing 4 pot caliper disc brakes on front Β· Heater Β· Heated windscreen Imperfections: Β· There is blistering and scorching on the fiberglass just where the exhaust manifold exits the bodywork. (see picture below) Β· Minor scratch right on front of bonnet (see picture below). Β· Nearside cycle wing has faint scuff marks (see picture below). Β· Joint between exhaust pipe and silencer re-welded (see picture below). Β· Normal tiny stone chips on front of rear wings. Β· Nearside inner CV boot deteriorated Β· No other known mechanical problems. MOT till March 2022. Only 3,172 miles Hoping to get Β£9,000+ *** Sorry to mess people around, but several people have now told me I have set expectations too low in terms of price for this car. A more realistic price is around Β£12,000. I should have checked its value before my initial post. *** ** SOLD **1 point

Fast forward 5 years into the year 2000 and we are at Loton again. In this year, I was lent a Vitesse to drive, this was the first time out in the car and we did go on to take the class win that year .Slightly disparaging comments from a friend however ( I am slim yes !!).1 point

donβt look like Webbers to me! Good news news though - with throttle bodies your car just got hugely more desirable!1 point

Another one, geez these take time don't they. Oddly this footage was the fastest a Spitty had gone up the hill, they wrote and told me, after I asked what times over the years a Spitty should achieve just in case I was miles off, odd for such an ancient car . LOL, just had an email, YT blocked it in certain countries see if this works then.1 point

I carried on for some years, but it was never the same. So many of my favourite moments of motorsport TV, are the dream team, Hunt and Walker; united in a commentary box somewhere out there once again!1 point

Having just sorted my insurance again this morning. The prices between FJ, flux and A-plan were all very close. However i just find flux very very pushy on the phone. A plan (jack) just a pleasure to deal with and a club sponsor so went with them.1 point

Is KGM a new underwriter A-Plan are using? Just got off the phone with Kerry and switching from Highway to them has saved me about Β£50 (granted, some of that was ditching legal cover, so just over Β£20 really). That's still quite a saving percentage-wise and has saved me the bother or shopping around again π1 point
