How will the rest of us feel when a lot of our tax and NI contributions are funding their selfishness because of some ridiculous belief system. Plenty of anit-vaxxer complain about the world becoming a two tier society (as if it wasn't already). yet they fail to understand that a simple innoculation puts them where they want to be instead of realising that their reluctance is the cause of the thing they rail against. Talk about a self fulfilling prophecy...2 points

9 places taken 41 left. I think I've heard something about Scotland not going back into the tiers system when they open up? Early days but things aren't looking too bad. 😎2 points

One thing you might want to consider is this bit of news from last week: Energy firms overcharged one million switching customers Friend of mine has been fighting Shell for two years now over this, even though he has smart meters fitted. They failed to take meter readings or payments the whole time (he saw what was coming and recorded them and saved money in a separate account to pay for it as well) despite numerous requests and complaints, and Shell refused to come out to inspect the meters or take the readings manually. Finally they accused him of tampering with the meters and sent him a revised bill for £5k (twice what he was expecting) and tried to take it by direct debit. They picked the wrong guy to brass off though as he has contacts in the media and spread it all over the local press. Sorted now, but what a mess. When you change suppliers, ALWAYS take and keep the meter readings on the day and ALWAYS keep a record of your annual energy consumption so you have proof if you start getting vastly overcharged.2 points

Another Octopus punter here. I’m on their ‘Go’ tariff which gives me 5p units for 4 hours at night. Works well with my Powerwall. If you do go with Octopus, find someone already with them and use the referral link, you both then get £502 points

This section of the forum can be browsed by both the whole world, and any bots looking to archive the pages, or gather personal data. I’ve hidden the address info posted. It’s much, much safer to send such contact details via PM, just give me a shout if you need help doing it, it’s not a problem at all. Stay safe!1 point

Yep, loving the thread too. Could play forever, but try and hold back a bit as don't want to hog it. & I have to keep making mental lists - should have written down so don't forget! 😞 I do aim to try and post 'non well known' music. Take your pick.....1 point

@BigSkyBrad i love the fact that you made a list! That's awesome! I'm really glad that this thread has, if only in some small way, made these lockdowns a bit more bearable for a few members. I'm just about to have me tea, then I'll be back on to post a linked vid. 👍1 point

Thanks Dave, I worked out how to qualify a recommendation via @corsechris 's sig link thingy. Octopus have a new customer...YAY. Sorry EDF, you just were not good enough - must try harder...1 point

Another variant of the 15 minute monitoring, if I’d been on my own, they’d have insisted I sit for 15 minutes. As I had the missus with me, they were happy for me to go as long as she drove home. Basically, treated like a responsible adult. Rare these days!1 point

True, but think on the bright side, when they die the rest may start to work out that it perhaps a good idea to have it after all. The science nerd in me can't help but post this sorry Blatters, but it's not an inoculation but a vaccine, an inoculation is the live version of an active virus ( albeit in small amounts) whereas a vaccine is a modified active ingredient that prevents the virus getting into your cells - bit more to it than that but that covers the basics. Sorry but its one of my bugbears 🤣1 point

'Outfox the market' gets our vote. We have air source heat pump now so electrickery is the main energy provider apart from lpg for cooking. When survey done for government grant the representative was quite impressed with choice saying that they were among the best. As with all of them you have to keep an eye on them as they do try it on occasionally but they do listen unlike others. Heating by electric is proving to be cheaper than kerosene even with covid rates drop so quite economical although very slow witted.1 point

OK John it's yours. Not sure when I can post it though, had a small issue involving a dog toy and a set of stairs this morning !!!, Think my ankle is twisted or something. PM me your address and will let you know the post costs are as I never know those till stuff is weighed at the post office, having posted some stuff this week I can't see being more than £3 or so. Understand your usage before you look at different companies. As per previous, if you're charging up an EV or a Powerwall every night your needs a re different. I've got solar panels, a ground source heat pump and underfloor heating everywhere so I can use variable tariffs such as Economy 10 quite efficiently. Green Energy do a good Tarrif (called TIDE) where electricity is priced in different time blocks through the day / night. 7 hours worth of 7.5p an hour during the night, mostly about 19p during the day and more from 1600-2000 when demand is high. Works for me as I can get all the heating and hot water done at 7.5p per KwH and use the PV panel output for day time stuff. About £600 a year for an open plan 4 bedroom house. Excellent customer service as well - they just answer the phone immediately and talk sensibly, not reading a script.1 point

I changed to Shell Energy recently as their fixed price tariff was the best available from 'reputable' firms. However these things change like the wind.1 point
