So, vaccinated today @ AFC Fylde, Wesham, nr Preston. Really well organised. From booking in, waiting, short series of questions to injection about 10 minutes. Had to wait 10 minutes before leaving although self monitored so could have left sooner. When I booked online I had 3 or 4 options of which site I could use, so picked the one with shortest lead time about 10 miles but only 4 days wait. Can’t really praise the staff and volunteers highly enough, so if anyone knows anyone working or volunteering at any vaccination centre please pass on my thanks, there all doing a fantastic job.2 points

That brought back some memories. I was in a place for offenders at one point. We lived in House 1, 2, 3 or 4. Every Wednesday we had to clean the accommodation and then take all the rubbish to a fire to burn. The site was located on the top of a bank and this bank lead down to a river at the bottom. Myself and two lads where taking the bags of rubbish to the fire when we spotted an old tyre. We put the tyre in the fire and decided to then roll it down the bank into the river. Well, as the burning tyre went down the bank bits of burning rubber where flying off and making little fires in all the undergrowth. Because of the place we where in we totally panicked because if we had been caught, who knows. We scrambled down the bank to put out all the fires and to get the tyre in the river. We didn't get caught but we definitely s*** ourselves.2 points

Making an expanding foam seat (BAG SEAT) in your seven. Well, I don’t know if this is a common problem or is just me. But I’m a big lad… big… wide whatever, and despite I fit well in most sevens (including narrow and Caterham s3 chasis) I never find a confortable position where I’m completely happy to drive. Aside of that, my torso is proportionally longer than my legs compared with the average population and my preferences for the driving position have been allways more “gt and rallye style” quite erect rather than single seater style… all laid back. This creates me all sorts of problems with the standard off the shelf available seats… head too near to the roll cage, head over the aeroscreen diffusing line, ergonomy problems reaching gear levers and operating pedas confortably for hel-toe driving… so finally opted for a bag seat after many years of fighting with off the shelf seats (I have to say that the JK that I had in my previous car were the best by far, but still not perfect for me). It took me ages to actually bite the bullet and start doing it, but finally it’s been really easy. Total working time, under 3 hours with ZERO experience before. I’ve followed the attached tutorial, I think is quite complete, but I could give you my two cents of experience here after having tied that myself: http://www.sjmmarsh.f2s.com/Caterham/Foam Seat.html I've done it without the insert as I wanted to seat as low as possible. Main two advises here: 1- Use an EXTREMELY BIG bag. Real big. The main danger of a bag seat is the possibility of overflow making a huge mess… so the bigger the better to minimise this risk -t 2- Use good quality foam. It makes a difference of how easy is to mix and how temperature sensitive is to start the reaction. Try to be extremely carefull with the foam, whatever it touches is disposable. Be carefull where you dispose the containers you will use to mix, as the remainders will start to expand and they may make a mess over your workbench. AVOID contact with skin...b - Then… you mask the interior of the car, with a big cloth, cardboard to limit the expansion to the sides, and hard porexpan to approximate you driving position. Mix 300cc of each component, and start the fun. Place it in the bag, wait till start to expand, distribute it by hand where you want to have it and sit. Wait 15 minutes. Get out, check the results and start filling the gaps with smaller amount of mixes. Finally I used 700cc of each component. It’s been a lot of excess that then it’s been cut away. The result is far from being aesthetic at all, but is really confi and the feel is perfect. A hack saw blade works perfect for cutting and trimming. If the bag is left any major kink or crest just sand it down with 80 grain sand paper. All toguether resulted in a 0,9kg seat with a very nice driving position... another plus Finally cover it with gaffer tape. It is a very long and tedious job to have to cover it… but is a must. Now… things I would have done differently: I would have limited the forward expansion… maybe placing the bag further backwards It just expanded way too much to the peal area and I lost quite a lot of foam there. I would have done it with a mate or with the misses… to help to pour and fill the gaps just lifting my butt and back rather than having to go out and estimate where the foam should go. Eventually, being that easy, I’ll do another one during the season correcting all this small mistakes. Find a link to the biggest bags I’ve found on-line. They have been perfect for the purpose. https://www.msar.co.uk/moulding-kits/msar-hd-x-large-seat-moulding-bag.html1 point

So Energy are heading up the independent reviews at the moment. I was with them couple of years ago and they were great. Which? do a free comparison service, as do Citizens Advice and Money Saving Expert. Check reviews on Trustpilot. Don't touch Together Energy, Symbio or Outfox the Market1 point

I'm with Octopus, cheaper than the big boys and seems like a decent company. Which? magazine reccomended.1 point

The other big one I saw was at Barbagello ( spelling?) where a car failed just as the lights changed to start the race, a car unsighted hit the back and the biggest fireball I have seen in motorsport at the time. Back then the fuel tank was behind the axle line, unlike now where its in front.1 point

Just about to sort ours. Prices up due to the cap increase. I've just switched every 12 months for the past few years. Been with a few companies I've never heard of and some bigger ones. Not had an issue. Just treat it like the usual game of compare the market like the car insurance. Martin Lewis energy club is pretty good for comparisons.1 point

Actually I should point out, because what I said could be read a few ways, I am NOT anti gay or anything like that, it's just I don't understand why we humans have to have so many labels for what is an essentially a male / female description. Just in case folks think I am not with the 21st century.1 point

I put a set of NS2-R's on the Audi TT, brilliant grip when warmed up. Wish I had saved my money now and treat the Westfield to a set of 13" wheels and Nankangs. I will add it to my list!1 point

I have done mine and it was straight forward enough. What did surprise was all the different "genders" for people and what they identify with. I can remember the days when it was "male and female".1 point

40, wow. The internet says mine is about 15 miles away, yet all my immediate neighbours have traveled no more than a mile or so. One chap over the road walked there... 2 mins walk. Well done anyway.1 point

Had mine yesterday at AFC Fylde. I'm only 37 but I've had a few health issues. Very quick and easy. I was in and out in under 10 minutes. I can defintely recomend picking to go there if you have it as an option in the Fylde, Wyre, Preston area. Loads of parking unlike some of the other options. Sore arm today and a bit tired. Nothing serious though. Second jab booked for the end of May.1 point

Hello Richard, I've nearly finished decorating my conservatory. At least I will have something to show for lockdown in addition to a lost plot, wrinkles, grey hair and a stash of meds!! Pick a wall.. Paint it!! 😻1 point

I have this morning written to the MSA technical about this and sent them this illustration. I'll feed back when I get a reply as it might be useful info for others in the future.rops proposal.pdf Here is a copy of my query: I have a Westfield 7se which currently has an MSA specifiation ROPS fitted ie 45mm x 2.5mm CDS tubing with diagonal bracing and two rear supports. I am proposing adding some additional support and protections by way of a Petty Strut and side intrusion bars. I am doing this as I don't want the weight penalty of a full cage nor the expense. I have attached an illustration of my proposals. I have read the relevant sections in Part K of the Blue Book, but this has raised some questions which I would like clarification on before proceeding. 1. The Petty Strut: (a) Is this a compulsory or optional addition and whichever the case does it have to be 45mm od or can it be 38mm od tube. Also can it be removable in either case? (b)1.3.1 Backstays states: "Forward facing stays are permitted if an angle of 30° cannot be achieved with Backstays" - the strut will lay at an angle greater than 30 degrees to the vertical is this OK? 2. Side intrusion bars - I'm assuming that these are probably optional but 1.3.5. Optional Reinforcement of ROPS. states: The diameter, thickness and material of reinforcements must be as defined in 1.4.1. They must be either welded in position or installed by means of demountable joints. Reinforcement tubes must not be attached to the bodyshell. The bars will be located one end on the ROPS ( see illustration), but the other end will need to be located on the chassis/bodyshell, can I do this? If not can I simply bolt the bars to chassis at two points?1 point

My comment was mainly based on my mate who hates them 😀 but like I say I am quite pleased with it so far, it’s got good low down pull which I like in an engine. I haven’t had much to do with older fords but have had a lifelong affliction with minis so get the old school appreciation 👍1 point

You don't seem to have many doctors around, do you. I am anesthetist - I send people off to sleep and make sure they wake up safe and sound. Anaesthetics goes together with Intensive Care, so I've also seen the worst COVID cases first hand. And yet I do all my cars and bikes maintenance and repair myself and I even built the garage I work in from scratch. I guess I like learning new skills.1 point

Hi Adge, Thanks - that’s really helpful. Given I got my car last May, I’ve not had a chance to meet anyone and ask to have a look! Really helpful! Thx W1 point

I regularly cross the border into Somerset (or will again once the restrictions are lifted). Maybe for those of us in the area we could have a local mini-meet near Yeovil, at somewhere such as the Rose and Crown in Trent.1 point

I'm guilty of driving with just my 'chopper' glasses on in the hot weather with a aeroscreen, just like the open air feel TBH. I only tend to wear my helmet if its cold or I'm going on boring dual carriageways/mways. My m8 sent me a nasty pic last week though,he's a windscreen fitter and went out to the van in the pics1 point

While being stuck isolating at home is horrible, having to travel on work at clients sites brings it own set of worries and triggers, too. Hard to describe the hollow feeling of dread sometimes, when the alarm clock goes off and you know you're at say, a city centre site that day. To make matters worse, the room we had to work in yesterday, was labelled up and laid out as a Covid test centre!! I asked though, it had never actually been used for that, thank goodness!0 points
