  1. The topic has come up several times recently, “back of house”; PLEASE, PLEASE, be aware that if you post personal details, whether it be phone numbers, email addresses or whatever, in the open, publicly viewable areas of the forum, which is most of it, sales sections, too, along with blogs and photo galleries, then these details are both visible to THE ENTIRE INTERNET, and they will be searched, indexed and archived by Google etc. And will subsequently appear in Google and any other search engine, searches. Even if the details are subsequently removed or edited, there are lots of resources out there such as the way back pages, that WILL have cached a copy, and no matter what we as a club do, we can never get all of that data back for you. If you need to exchange personal information, with other members, such as to buy or sell a part, or to meet up, please for the love of god, use the PM system, it’s what it’s there for! Information shared by PM does not get indexed by third parties and will not appear randomly on the web for ever after. If you have to put contact info on a post, use public domain info, that you are not concerned about, but be aware it WILL be indexed by the world at large, and if your display name or post content identify you, will make a tenuous link back to you.

  5. Gold Cup meeting. This three day event on the 28th to 30th August is always one of the highlights of the year. The Wirral and North Wales area have a stand at the show for you to display your Westfield and enjoy the show and the racing. And Jeff wants to know if you prefer Victoria sponge, chocolate cake or apple pie and custard. Tickets this year are not free as in the past, but are discounted 50%, so excellent value even so. The three day ticket is the best, it doesn’t mean that you have to attend all three days but you have a choice, handy with our British summer time weather. https://www.oultonparkgoldcup.com/get-involved/

  12. I feel like i could write a book on this old girl. Never laughed as much in my life.... Bought for £25 painted in dulux black inside and out Mot passed, tester had to give us a bump start. Took a mate and his girlfriend street cruising. Broke down 8 miles away from home at 10.30 pm, all had to walk home. Throttle cable snapped. i, passenger removed the interior engine access panel and operated the throttle, while the driver did the clutch and gears. Blasted down field farmers tracks and rolled. Raced a mini and ended up on two wheels round a bend. A Good laugh beats an adrenalin rush any day.

  13. Sorry to hear your selling David, this car has had a lot of time and effort put into it and someone will get a bargain at this price. Steve

  14. I'll be looking for a day at Anglesey, as I missed out last year for the first time in ages. Hopefully if things go well and we're allowed to do overnighters later in the year?

  16. Depends what you sold it for. If the engine is toast and what the new owner paid. It was a nice looking car from what I remember removing the exhaust can at croft last March. I would have a serious conversation with the new owner. See what he needs from the deal to walk away and then do the man maths Probably then throw all sense out the window pay over the odds and get your baby back.

  18. All being well the car is booked in to have a new roll bar fitted later next month so before I strip everything down to a bare chassis there’s a few jobs, measurements and photos I need to do as it’ll be a long time before the car is complete again after this. The car is being built with circuit racing in mind and for that I need a 2 litre oil catch tank, which is done thing the car never had in period. There’s absolutely zero room inside the chassis to fit it so the only space left is on the outside. I’m trying to avoid adding any new brackets to the chassis but luckily a suitable space presented its self to the side of the gearbox, I just needed to fabricate a bracket so it could be bolted to the box. incase you’re wondering yes I did spill a whole bottle of marking blue !

  19. I had so many friends and family members who kept questioning why I still have my Westfield sat in the garage despite it not turning a wheel for 15 yrs but with other more important priorities it just sat there gathering dust, a few times I did think it's a waste and may as well sell it but I had a niggling idea I would never be able to justify blowing a load of cash on what is a toy, especially with children on the scene now...............so 15 yrs on from when it was last used we are on track to have it back on the road how I always wanted it...... Now in the current climate that no one ever predicted there is not a hope in hell I could ever go and buy one now, Wife has just been made redundant and I am dodging it (twice since last March), but it will catch up with me probably this year............. Basically I am glad I didn't listen to anyone 😂

  20. Summat like this gets you to Italy and back via France, Austria and Germany, over two weeks. And you can still use the hood if you have to. 😎

  21. Lomo bag and rok straps will get you a long way. Rear luggage rack also helps. Other than that, be strategic with your space. I've got a frame over the diff to store my tools (hidden under the boot lid that just looks like fixed bodywork so they don't attract any eyes) Also store my jack under the bonnet. 2 months hiking and camping around Europe with this setup was great, so NC500 should be manageable!

  23. I have been meaning to post these for a while. The story rambles but you with get there if you stick with it. After seeing @maurici peice that was produced by his very talented partner in crime Ana, i got to work hatching a plan for my wife for christmas between Maurici, Ana and Myself. Mrs W (Michelle) lost her mum a couple of years ago after her breast cancer came back very quickly having been in remission for a number of years. Michele didnt really have many pitures of her and her mum together so i found some pictures of her mum wth husband and Michelle with me in a simlar oriantation. Ana merged the two together to create something that never actually happened. Now on to westy side of things. As some of you know i also have a pre-lit built by Dad in 1987 as well as the blade. The car sat for 22 years from 1990 to 2012 having only been driven 373miles (still only done about 2000). I spent a couple of months sorting parts and referbing others, when we got it back on the road and the first thing we did was go on a trip the the Nurburgring and so Ana then copied o photo of me coming round Brünnchen. So anyway bit of show and tell but also to say Ana is still taking commissions so get in touch with @maurici who can hook you up and if he does the salesman bit on you then youll end up with two pictures and not just one.

  25. Well we are thread drifting - but all I’ll say on the kit car vs bike debate is I’d rather hit a dry stone wall surrounded by an FIA cage and strapped in with a harness than wearing a set of leathers.

  26. The update is out- I'll not spoil the fun, but I'm not surprised at the F20C weight! Though I expected a bigger difference with the K20! It will hopefully shut up the constant K-Swap-it posts!

  27. And this is why so many enthusiastic owners don’t like posting on the forum. I know of an AO even, with similar roll bar and not too different wheels. Just because owners aren’t attending every track day going, or competing at every opportunity does NOT make them non enthusiasts. In fact, if you take a long hard look at many meetings, you’ll find the roll bar thing in particular is rather more popular than the forum would have you believe. (And yes, for anyone taking the car on track, I’d always advise a braced bar, and for competition a cage).

  28. Price for WSCC members now agreed at a reduced rate of £100 per car/driver. Extra Drivers are £30 Passengers £10 Non members £120 so you can see I have negotiated a good discount for the club Westfields are preferred but any "normal" car is acceptable All bookings should be made direct with Blyton Park Alan Mugglestone alan@blytonpark.co.uk 01427628922 07596297700 This should be great event and opportunity for the Westfields to get together on track

  29. Trying to keep up the progress since Christmas I’ve been in talks with a couple of people about both the roll bar fabrication and also a couple of jobs I will need doing in the engine. I’m prioritising pulling together the parts needed for this as the engine gearbox and chassis work are the first three that need to be completed before I can reassemble the car. It’s such a tight fit in the engine bay that I need to fit these first and then assemble everything else around them. the latest job completed is the inlet manifold. I’d made a mock up using SU’s for hen I gas the exhaust fabricated but after some thought and a few conversations with race organisers I’m switching back to Weber’s for ease and simplicity. The car was run with both over the years and series regulations require me to run the car in a period specification so It was a choice between either twin 1-1/2” SU HS4’s or a single Weber Carburetor. When I bought the car it was fitted with the Weber on a crude manifold. This was a prototype but far from ideal and despite the tubes having a reasonable diameter the hose joiners reduces this to little over an inch. This made its way to the bin quite soon after I got the car so it’s time for something better. There was no chance of getting anything off the shelf since the engine orientation is so different to the Hillman imp so I had to start from scratch and given the problems I’m having getting parts made right now and looking to save a bit of money I thought I’d have a go myself. First off we start with a drawing and then onto fabrication. my welding skills are slowly getting better but cosmetically still not perfect, but luckily most were to be dressed smooth any how. Just a coat of paint needed now.
