Hi all, Hope that you and yours are well and enjoying the lockdown! Not that I have time on my hands in the evenings or anything - but decided to amuse myself last night with planning a possible route for a first drive-out when easing of restrictions allow! I mapped out a route as a starter for ten - but really happy to take suggestions on tweaks / amendments based on better local knowledge - esp on the western end of the route! Unhelpfully, google maps doesn't seem to allow me to calculate the total route distance anymore(?), but I reckon it must be about 120/130 miles all in - and a mix of A roads, the twisty stuff, big hills, one short M-way squirt - and most importantly, coffee at the start and a pub lunch by the river (if people are up for it?) It would be great to get your thoughts on this - suggested changes to the route, where we can stop etc - open to all suggestions and ideas of who might be interested once circumstances allow? Also, might be nice to ask the neighbouring areas, Bristol and Dorset to see if anyone would like to join us too? - and make some new connections? https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=1oOwu6mm6di8fbmYhqgSr85hrHHFfdRF7&usp=sharing Let me know what you think? Looking forward to being allowed out to play again! Thx W3 points

Hi all, Thanks for the suggestions and comments - all good with me. Should be fine with fuel - Taunton, Minehead, Lynton, Barnstaple and Tiverton so even if your not twinkle toes - you should be ok! The Bampton option is good. We could either go Bampton via Wivvy or Bampton, Exebridge, Heath Poult Cross and across top to Taunton. I'm completely fine with either. Monkton Elm is a good option or maybe even the Cross Keys pub on the roundabout? Really not precious about any of this at all - would just be good to have a plan up our sleeve so we can just get to it when we can - and woukd just eb great to finally meet up with everyone! Thanks all, W2 points

I met some of the guys that were working on the Apache when it came into service during one of my free holidays around the globe. For every one hour of flying it required something ridiculous like 15hours maintenance. But agreed what a machine!!! Still not as good as the greatest helicopter in the world. Loved my time on these!2 points

I did the Service Inquiry into the Puma Mk 2 that crashed in Kabul on 11 Oct 2015 after it collided with the surveillance balloon cable. Lots of lessons identified there! On the other hand the Lynx was a cry baby, if she wasn't crying oil then you had a problem! And the flying drumstick that was the Gazelle, probably the most '7ish' of all the Helos I worked on, simple but worked! Now the Apache wow, what a machine Awesome.2 points

Life's end is never easy, but when taken prematurely the effects are far worse for the family and friends, my sincere condolences to Steve's family at this sad time, I feel that the kinship we have in this club makes this more heartfelt for somebody I never met.2 points

Do we have any gamers here? With a relatively small to do list on the car this winter I've had more time to get back into gaming. I mainly play call of duty (ps5) and recently finished my gaming setup. I have always wanted a designated play area and now I've got one 😄 Although it's probably a matter of months before the kids claim it as their own. What are you playing? Show me your setups if you like.1 point

Looks good. If we plan a coffee / cake stop in Lynmouth there is a shorter, alternative route back across the moors (lovely road) via Simonsbath, Raleigh Cross and Wheddon Cross back towards Bishops Lydiard for anyone who is only allowed half a day off gardening / family duties. Just need some freedom and some sunshine. Jim1 point

And... Mean's there are no backsie's now! We have long memories. Seriously though Craig, and everyone else, your kind offers are much appreciated. This is one of only a few club roles, where we do rely on those with some good technical knowledge and experience in the relevant field, as well as enthusiasm and Club spirit.1 point

Due to brexit and impossibility of 12 month green cards, I have now to sell all my cars which are currently in Barcelona Spain, a westfield, a nomad and a defender. One of these is a factory red Sport 250, which I bought direct from the factory with 200 miles on it. Naturally it has the factory Ford Ecoboost 250 HP engine, and it was warrantied by the factory. It was registered in August 2018 and has had little use due to several factors, none of which have anything to do with the car. I have had a loose cooling pipe and a loose indicator relay, both of which I fixed and other than that all has been well; it goes like a rocket. It has a momo quick release steering wheel, LED headlights and the following spec: Upgrade to limited slip differential Upgrade to wide track wishbones Upgrade to track day shock absorbers Upgrade to Westfield Race front and rear calliper – Upgrade to 205 wide T1R tyres Upgrade to 8” rear wheels Upgrade to FW rear body Upgrade to Sport Turbo seats Upgrade to limited-slip differential Carbon Effect FW stone guard kit> Also a power point / USB port is fitted. Plus clear indicators and a new grille, better for cooling and the "7"... Full doors, half doors and half roof included, plus storage bag for roof. I think it looks great with all the "7" type add ons, but they are all easily removable if not required. As they all say, I am sorry to let it go, but its virtually brand new and someone will get use out of it now that I simply cannot. New this car is around 39,000 pounds from the factory, assembled, mine has only 2000 miles and I am aiming for around 30,000 pounds. It is currently in Barcelona, but I can bring it back for a serious buyer or it can be seen there, or videos sent. thanks gary My whatsapp is 0034607200010 email - stillwanted@gmail.com1 point

It's with great sadness that I have to announce that Steve has lost his battle with cancer. Steve passed away earlier today, at home with his family after coming home from a hospice. As many of you know, he built his Sport 250 from a kit completing it in July 2018, but never stopped upgrading and improving. His first outing was to our summer BBQ after going to the wrong Fox and Grapes. 3 days later, we were at Thornes Park for his first show. His enthusiasm for all runs and shows was immense, even after we all left him in a carpark when his steering wheel collapsed leaving him to gaffer tape it back together to complete his journey. Steve was a regular at all our meetings and will missed by us all. Our thoughts go out to Dawn and Josh.0 points
