100% agree with kev. The Hamilton haters will be out in force saying it's the car but as Kev says. in identical equipment Bottas has flashes of brilliance whereas Hamilton impresses for 90% of the time and has bagged 7 championships.
The question this raises is how does Bottas compare to George Russell? On this showing, not well, but over a season? We'll likely never know and despite a lot of enthusiasm for George Russell, we have the same question. On that race on that day he was brilliant. But if he was team-mate to Hamilton, or Vertsappen, or Alonso or Vettel, would he fare so well race after race? Vettel stared down the Aussie grit of Webber. Vertsappen has seen them come and go on several occasions. Alonso never quits and Hamilton is the current benchmark setting a high bar, even for a 6 footer...
We are hugely optimistic that George can bring the fight to any of them in equal equipment, but until he's alongside one of them for more than just a weekend we will never actually know. He might turn out to be the heir to the Hamilton crown, or he may fold like Bottas. Time will tell.
