  1. I live fairly far north (Montana, USA) and at a bit of altitude (5000') so when you get a sunny and calm day in December and the roads are clear of snow you take it. It was chilly (30°F/ -1°C) so it means that the engine makes great power with all that cold and dense air while the tires have little grip. It's not the best combo now that I think of it but it sure was fun. dave

  2. Please, please DON'T forget to update your adverts when your car or part is sold!! It not only drives buyers insane when they're constantly chasing adverts, only to find out it's gone, when they do manage to make contact. Worse still, it can discourage people from using the for sale sections if they just get fed up every time they try!

  3. Wow... at 55 my work colleagues (mostly under 30) placed a bet that I could not do a headstand A) because none of them can, and B) due to infirmity/loss of balance "at my age". As is s common when they make such assumptions, they were proved wrong much to their chagrin. Although the boss did ask why I was standing on my head in the warehouse instead of actually working, as if the headstand itself wasn't self-explanatory...

  8. Saw this while picking up some milk and it threw me. I think that’s a bit of a given, isn’t it? Don’t think there’s much choice in the matter. Not exactly newsworthy.

  12. I was going to suggest I am the 2nd (instinct driver) but Moles 4th type of driver has me struggling now. lol

  15. I have loads of them too, always have. if I click on an individual custom stream it opens up an editing screen, and I can delete it from there. I never have, nor will, as I only see them if I go looking. I do remember from one of the forum iterations a few years ago, being able to set up things like recent posts to give a customised view, so I guess this is the result.

  16. Yeah, it's just posts you've not read.

  17. Thanks for the reply. I should add though I am only curious as to what is involved. I don't have any plans to put myself forwards for it.

  18. @TableLeg there is a wscc 'guidlines' document you should read. Can't remember where it is, @Ian Tolfree (tolf) - WSCC AO Rep?? Sometimes it can feel a joy and easy, sometimes a chore and hard work. But it is a commitment that should be taken seriously as there are a few expectations. - Regular AO report for WW. - Regular local meet organisation. But plenty of support will be given by committee.

  19. I don't think they need deleting as you've not created them. It's just another way of viewing threads you've been in, I suspect.

  20. It takes no effort to become one, but it will require effort to remain one. I gave up after a couple of times driving to a pub, only to drink on my own... It all depends on what you want out of it? Want to go out for regular drives? Organise it! Want to meet up at the pub? Organise it! In short, there are no requirements to become one, and other than the occasional write up for the magazine, nothing is compulsory. That reminds me, I still have the WSCC banners in my garage for our area...

  21. Further expansion of this thread, I've just played my usual game of "spot the pink nose" in the Winter 2020 WW magazine that's just dropped through the door today. I'm up to 13 photos......

  24. This will be interesting... For FWD, I'd say I'm a conscious driver. I have close to 500bhp through the front wheels, which can best be described as "lively". I've owned the car in various states of tune for about 17 years and over 200,000 road miles, so I'm utterly in tune with how it drives. I've won the FWD handling class at Ten of the Best twice and I've posted FTD at several club days at Curborough. When I'm driving on track (usually sprints or other timed events) I tend to do a decent banker time, then get faster and faster until I step too far over the limit and screw up the lap, then my final run is usually my best by quite a margin. For RWD (ie my Westie), I haven't yet taken it on track, but just from the road driving I've done, I'm going to have to re-learn how to drive close to the limit and how to cope when I've exceeded the limit. I'd definitely say I'll be an instinct driver. I'm quick enough and don't mind pushing it to find the limit, but the behaviour of FWD and RWD on the other side of the limit are very different - it'll take a while, but should be fun

  25. I think Russ sums up how I feel about me too, apart from I know I need to work on braking as I don't launch into some corners hard enough. I must admit that track time builds confidence . I always think its not how fast you can go but how smooth and consistent you do it. I just want more track time to try and get better.

  27. 🙂 I dont get to see my vids until I get home. Too late to do anything about it. I do try to remember to watch over a previous visit to a circuit before doing it again though. Just realized.. @Rush Motorspork is "filming" his laps, and I'm "videoing" mine. Are we behind the times? 😃

  30. I’m just slow 😁 ...but yes the comfort driver describes me I think. Need to push it more and learn about how to handle things on and over the limit. Obviously an MX5 will help but I have no room @Rush Motorspork

  31. It's been a somewhat weird and uncertain year for everyone, no shows, no WSCC Speed Series / Awards evening - a few socially distanced club meets and drives ....... just to say, despite the lack of events ..... what a brilliant WSCC Calendar we have for 2021. A thank you to all the contributors for digging deep in their albums and of course an extra big Thank You to Peter O and the team for putting it together and fingers crossed there will be more to look forward to in 2021. 👍🏻 🤞🏻

  32. After finally finding a cam sensor related issue that had turned the engine into a non runner since summer 2019, the car finally moved, (well 3/4 of it did), all be it four or five metres(!) under it's own engine power, considering it's running NA, with just a base map on the new DTA ecu, although rich, it's running nicely now the cam sensor reading issue is resolved. It was still covered in masking tape and a thick layer of dust from cutting, drilling sanding etc, so I reversed it, perched in the one snot bolted-down-seat, with no dash, just the laptop for instruments, out into the sunlight, and very carefully washed off all the dust, after peeling off what tape I could get at, and using adhesive/tar remover on the residue it left.
