This area of the forum, whilst titled 'Stuff and Nonsense', is to enable members to raise topics which clearly don't belong in other sections of the forum. However primarily, we are a Westfield sports Car forum and members should strive to contribute in a balanced way. We'd hope 99% of member's posts are on Westfield Sports Car related topics and 1% are 'stuff and nonsense'. Hence before posting in here, please consider: 1. Do I really need to share this with the WSCC Community (i.e. is it all ready covered on main stream news sites, Face book etc)? 2. Is there already a thread on this topic? If, so why not continue on that thread, instead of starting a new one! 3. Have there been lots of similar threads on this topic and hence members may view my post as repetitive/annoying, etc? Please also consider many members view the forum, by selecting the unread posts view, and therefore some members may become frustrated if all they see is 'stuff and nonsense' topics from this view. Some of these members may then raise the issue with the Moderator Team, who do they best to keep this a happy and friendly place to be! The team work around the clock, ensuring SPAM and inappropriate posts are quickly removed and hence would appreciate if their collective workload can be reduced, by not having to deal with issues on repetitive posting of non-car related topics.8 points

Well it was sunny this morning and with the Audi booked into the garage , there’s no point in missing an opportunity so called the garage and said no rush I’ll use the westy.. mmmm about the time I put the phone down I saw the weather forecast wet and decidedly cold, heyho so off I went , actually it wasn’t to bad driving rain going to work and cold and dark coming home 🤣3 points

Thanks for all the relies and welcomes. Yep it is a Dutton Phaeton, slightly dubious build quality but I bought it for £1495 and sold it 2 years later for £1600 - with much sideways fun in-between. Very cheap to run as in the 80s there were scrapyards every 2 miles and they were all full of Xflow / 2000E / Escort / Herald bits and pieces to keep her going. I'm just outside South Petherton (will make sense to locals) currently making do with a Lexus Soarer, a Mk 1 Audi TT convertible, a Series 2a Landy and an ever expanding motorcycle museum of old Triumphs. Hopefully soon replace the 225bhp, heated seats, 4 WD and comfort of the TT with a much lighter, much older, less powerful, much colder, much more uncomfortable and much more expensive Westfield. Not sure that last sentence makes me sound rational. Negotiations and searching continue.....2 points

Been happening for years already, look at some of the joke phev cars that circumvented the company car tax regs. When in reality they were far more gas guzzling than normal petrol/diesel equivalents.2 points

Not sure if anyone else got the pre-booking email but, after spending an hour in a queue, I've managed to book my half hour Lapland experience of Silverstone!!! 16th December at 5pm I'll be with my autistic son (who's a huge petrol head) spending half an hour driving around whatever delights they are setting up on the track / grounds. I know it's a bit daft travelling 2 hours each way for a half hour track experience BUT lockdown has been horrible on the kids and if this means my son gets to experience some Christmas cheer ... in the COVID safe environment of my 911 ... then I'm well up for it. Only issue ... 5mph/10mph speed limit 😞 YEAH RIGHT 😈1 point

Testing the water, Probably not the best time to be selling but I will just leave it up until spring. Very well (modular) built 2002 SEIW with the original receipts and build manual/ folder. It is 02 Plate I have the correct V5 in my name. Exterior Professionally wrapped in black and carbon fibre, which can be removed to return to it’s original colour of maroon. New spax suspension all round. Very good Yokohama A085 tyres New brake callipers with grooved and drilled discs. Full (well fitting) weather gear with doors and Perspex side screens, (Can include Westfield aero screen with mirrors, never fitted). Lockable bonnet with quick release nose cone. Lockable boot Chrome wishbones Chrome roll bar Interior. Moulded contoured dash Brand new fibreglass seats with padding with Westfield logo on the headrest. Removable momo race steering wheel with a security lock. USB and 12v power socket with voltage meter. Factory immobiliser 4 point willians harnesses Engine Jenvey throttle bodies 1800 Zetec silver top Polished and ported head 285 piper cams Venier pulleys MBE 956 ECU Repackable exhaust New cam belt and water pump fitted a couple of months again with the head change along with oil, oil filter, coolant Drivetrain MT75 gearbox with quick shift and extended gearknob. Limited slip diff. The car has covered 27000 miles the majority from touring with the first owner. Not so good points! I scuffed the vinyl on the right hand rear arch, it could do with being re wrapped but I don’t think it would be much. The exhaust could do with being repacked but again not an expensive job. Very small chip on the windscreen (never failed MOT) This car has been fantastic and never let me down, I am just not getting to use i envisaged. I’m not getting a new car until the new year so in no hurry to sell and it will just stay under its soft cover in the heated garage attached to the battery conditioner. I will put a new MOT on it soon, happy for people to look and will take people out for a test drive (with mask) if the weather is dry! Just bear in mind the seats are figure hugging so if you are over a 36” waist you will need to bring a shoehorn! But all is not lost! If you are genuinely interested I have a set of real leather Westfield sports seats that can go with it! If you have any questions please let me know £95001 point

Thanks - have just seen that one. A little more than I was hoping to pay but then a little higher spec than I was planning on buying. First thoughts on the car were to go fairly basic - not much to go wrong / can't do myself on a Dell Orto fed 1700 Xflow. Fuel injection and ECUs a little outside my comfort zone at present. I'll get in touch and have a think - and I get to drive the Okehampton to Tavistock road :-).1 point

I would imagine that nearer the time the date will get put back because neither the car industry nor the charging infrastructure will be ready......1 point

agreed, I’m not bothered about getting to London 20 mins quicker. On the flip side though, I’m very keen on getting OUT of the place quicker, so swings and roundabouts!1 point

Indeed. Well thought-out, like usual. They should just scrap HS2. Massive money saver and eco saver.1 point

I don't know, Don, and I don't care, the original article you posted referred to 'a Uswitch expert' didn't it? The press are now referring to 'A spokesman for ABI' , I know which of those I would ask! Unlikely to be 'bogus' but for a lawyer, his interpretation of the law is fundamentally flawed... He said - “Essential travel is largely defined as shopping for necessities, picking up medical supplies, caring for a vulnerable person and getting to and from work if you cannot do so from home.” He added: “Anything else is not really acceptable. This is a patently inaccurate summary of the law. Some people do need to check their cover during lockdown, if, for example you use your car instead of the train, and your policy doesn't include commuting. For me this article was a blatant misrepresentation of that point, scaremongering, to get clicks.1 point

Left a 9.30 and just home now 270 miles. Left in lovely autumn sunshine and made a bad decision to go west !!!! raining and windy at Fort William where I fuelled up then onto the Corran ferry and then along the loch and mountain side, a single track road with sheep and cattle on it and so much water a boat would have been better, but so enjoyable. At the mallaig road I turned back towards Fort William and you could see the snow line just under the clouds. Back along loch laggan with the weather brightening and stopped for a fish supper in aviemore then home. Here’s a few pictures from today1 point
