  1. Chesterfield is in Tier 2 and we can meet in groups of 6 outdoors, so we had a crack at it today. It was largely successful, I for one felt safe and therefore we shall try and operate like this until things change again. If you are in tier 1 or 2 and you wish to join us, please register your interest and I will do my best to accomodate you. Use PM, phone, text or on here, whichever way suits you best. Here is our day today, I hope you enjoy the photo's and it gives you a moment of escapism x. Honda Boy, Rob, arriving you knew a Honda engined Westfield would be involved didn't you? At 8.40am this morning we were struggling to park at Hassop, don't folks want a lie in bed anymore? Shortly after a local guy in a beautiful Bentley arrived, it is a 4.5 litre straight 4, after today it is coming off the road for the front suspension to be sorted. And now he has seen Rita he said he was going to polish it too, a compliment indeed. The Lotus club soon arrived, they were in limited numbers too And the car park just kept getting better We went on our route, when we touched the Sheffield end of the Peak District it got busy, so we swerved it and went on the quieter roads. Lights on boys, it was dark under the trees We had a pit stop at The Barrel Inside the real fire had just been lit, it looked very warm and inviting, but we have to be outdoors only, so we admired the view instead. Back on the road we wiggled a route to finish at The Bull I Thorn and the inevitable happened. Martin danced like an Egyptian, er no, we ate cake. Bull I Thorn Soon, Bill wished us a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, probably a happy Easter too and made his way home. Greater Manchester will surely be in Tier 3 very soon and that will mean no mixing with other households for Bill, so after getting the dust out of my eye I waved a goodbye to him. Good job Rob was on hand to quickly change the subject and get on with the day. It has been a great day with the lovely cars, a Crossflow, a V8, a Duratec, a Honda and our Zetec making an excellent and interesting collection of Westfields. Hope to see you all soon.

  2. Hi all, Firstly, apologies if this is the wrong place for this post but I know lots of us visit Start Line most days. I'm not sure if everyone goes on the WSCC Membership part of the forum, but I noticed that donations to our club charities (Make a Wish and the Air Ambulance) are extremely low. I know it's been a very tough year for a lot of us with Covid, furlough, redundancies etc, but I'm hoping there's more than 3 or 4 people who've already donated that could buy one less Costa, not have a McDonald's, skip the Chinese or have one pint not two in the next week or so? So far we've raised less than 10% of what we did last year..... I'm not an AO or on the committee, just a fellow member that hopes we can raise a bit more. Stay safe 👍 Rob

  3. Hopefully Chesterfield remains in tier 2 or better otherwise we’re stuffed. 😀

  4. Yeah, I admit the only thing Westie is the exhaust pipe, but the 'what you've been up to' thread is well buried. I set out several years ago to build myself a cigar box guitar, and rather than use a cigar box for the body, I would make my own hardwood box. I wasn't 100% happy with a couple of things, so I bunged it on ebay for a silly price, and it sold! And I've been making and selling them ever since! This year I figured it was about time to have another go at making one for myself alongside other builds. Finally got it finished and went a bit arty with the camera the other day - 'fast cars, electric guitars'. (For the wood freaks) Body and neck - oak and walnut. Fretboard - ovangkol with black mother-of-pearl binding. Headstock - spanish olive over walnut. Top and bottom - spanish olive over Indonesian hardwood ply.

  5. Thanks for a great day out as always! Bill, I hope the lockdown ends soon and you can get back out to play! We all know it's going to be difficult for the AO's to keep everyone happy with the restrictions. Don't worry about having to rotate the attendance going forward, we are all grown ups (well sort of!) and we all understand especially with some new members waiting for their chance... After all, everybody needs their fair share of Westfields, Peaks and Cake 😂 Stay safe! 👍

  14. When I say there was no link, I think the only link would have been, they both do prog/experimental Rock.

  15. For Devin Townsend standalone work - Ocean Machine is my favourite of his For Devin Townsend Band - Accelerated Evolution For Devin Townsend Project - its between Transcendence, and Epicloud All his different albums have very different sounds, his older stuff tends to be heavier, and more 'experimental', but his newer stuff tends to have a much complex sound with lots of layers to the songs

  19. Hi Ian thanks for changed status. Apologies, I was sure I’d changed status to “found”.

  20. Birthday present was to sit in a Spitfire at Duxford, still smiling but wasn’t allowed to fire the guns. Makes the Westfield cockpit feel really large and I wasn’t wearing a flying suit or parachute. Really light controls, not sure how I would have felt if someone was firing at me.

  21. Picked up westie last week, and spent this week getting to know it. Hoping for a good run Sunday to really experience car. Previous owner gave me a box of bits which included a brand new K&N filter still in box and recharge kit. Thought - I’ll get that on right away as existing filter was filthy. Took me an hour after removing jubilee clip to remove using feeler gauges as it was “welded” with age to Air inlet housing. No wonder mew filter was still in box. Oiled new filter, and when dry, Test drove it, what a difference.

  23. good choice..... I did the fast tin tops, My e46 m3 was ruinous to track, and even that felt too fast for the road. For it to feel exciting regularly I was well into license losing terrroity. Soooo heavy too Now my money is invested in some old Ford bits, some box section and i'm having way more fun.
