  3. I've got a few multi-meters, but the one I use most is the cheapie Vici VC97, very similar to this one: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Proster-Multimeter-VC97-Capacitance-Resistance/dp/B00EYYJQOO/ref=sr_1_10?dchild=1&keywords=vici+multimeter&qid=1601651972&sr=8-10 No complaints for around £20

  4. How anyone can type with these, amazes me😎 Let alone pedal a Westie!

  5. Nah...the most eventful part was when the KITT turned itself off. I was chatting to Chris about this afterwards. The way the pedals are positioned I was struggling to heel and toes - the brake pedal was a bit too high for me. So yes, I came off the clutch a little too sharp but it normally would have been fine with a blip of the throttle. As long as it wasn't on a downchange Chris...that's what limiters are for! I mean what engine only revs to 6500! You did tell me to "go and have fun!"

  7. Hi folks. I’m new to the forum and club, and currently looking for a wide bodied Westie. I plan to use it purely for touring with my wife, and local hoonery around town and country, so not looking for race spec in any way with roll cages etc. Spec I’m ideally looking for is as follows but not absolutely set in stone (I’m aware that I may be chancing my arm, but hey, who knows if somebody is ready to upgrade: Would prefer non Q plate, (no snobbery) just I’ve got my cherished number plate from my last vehicle currently on retention possible 2005+ (long shot maybe so not a deal breaker if earlier) Zetec engine (not fussed re power output) with low miles preferably not motorbike engine LSD Bodywork anything but primary colour (would prefer navy/BRG/dark red/cream, these sort of colours) Comfortable classy interior (I know it’s not a Bentley, but looking for nice) leather seats (maybe 2 tone) not bothered 4 point or inertia belts fully carpeted Full weather gear and doors boot area recent tyres full windscreen Overall package is more important than any one spec If anyone knows of, or has a car they’re selling in next few months please contact me on 0787 056 7909. I live in Glasgow, but prepared to travel countrywide for the right car, with a good history at the right price. I’ll update post once I’ve found a car, so post could run for a while and is still valid if I don’t mark it as “(FOUND)” thanks Duncan

  11. The meter I use in the shed for 99% of the jobs on the car cost me all of £6. I also have a genuine Fluke 75 but that tends to get used when absolute accuracy is important. Most jobs on the car are generally handled perfectly well with the cheap job, and at £6 it’s entirely disposable in the event of an accident.

  12. Doesn't have a digital readout but a Fluke T90 is inexpensive and hey, it's a Fluke... https://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/voltage-indicators/7508438?cm_mmc=UK-PLA-DS3A-_-google-_-PLA_UK_EN_Test_%26_Measurement_Whoop-_-Voltage+Indicators_Whoop-_-7508438&matchtype=&aud-832474874771:pla-494668894272&gclid=CjwKCAjwn9v7BRBqEiwAbq1Ey-d6q0vbJtaIevEp4UEinflqDkhHJKaoSx6pcCEhfUhIidpWRpAoDBoCLPAQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds I have a cheap-ish multi-meter for the house, testing continuity, fuses, voltage etc. For the car I have come to love power probes with the ability to back-feed circuits. Very handy, but not especially cheap...

  16. To bring this post up to date ...................> I am now the proud owner of this solid 1800 Mazda build. Been looking for ten years for the right one and this turned up when I least expected it to. I paid Andrew (Toybox) a wad of cash and had it delivered the day before lockdown. It gave me some time to get acquainted with the pocket rocket and after some small fettling, it sat and waited for the unlock. It has had a few changes since the initial build as do all of these vehicles, that's a big part of ownership. It has a reg change to reflect me and my wife, not that she even noticed, oh well. M8 VNJ (Mates Vic and Jill). Jobs to do, change the thermostat to 82 deg, only for the fact I am not sure when it was last done (2010?) and after changing both the rear water sensors because of strange fluctuations on the gauge. I am going to run a couple of wires from the fan switch and install a manual cockpit switch, just as belt and braces. That's it for now............ Oh, I will upload some pics soon.

  21. Auto range means the meter will automatically set the best range based on what the measured voltage is. If it doesn't have this, you have to manually select the voltage higher than you expect to measure e.g. If you intend to measure 12V the 600V range will work, but won't display the voltage down to several decimal places e.g. It may show 12V, instead of 12.02V for example. If you have it on the 30V setting, it will show 12.02V. If you try to measure a voltage higher than the range, it will display a message such as OL, to indicate out of range and you simply select the next range up on the rotary switch until you can see your reading.

  22. Hi All, More items have been added to the clearance section this week. We have had a few questions about the remaining bike car parts we have so a lot of these have now been listed. Still a few more bits to go on, these will be added over the next few days. Many thanks and take care : )

  26. Can I just gently remind folks that the abitly to post "For Sale" threads is a privilege of being a paid up club member, only. While the club welcomes all new prospective members to sign up to the Boardroom for a one month trial, so that you experience some of the clubs on-line life, certain parts of the Boardroom and the right to do certain things are restricted to full club members, or those taking out a month by month subscription. The club respectfully, would ask those signing up to the free trial membership, not to try and bypass those restrictions by posting sales adverts in other sections of the Boardroom. We will delete any we find. If you have an item to sell, but don't wish to become a full member, you may take out a paid extended trial membership instead, this will allow you to post as many adverts as you like in the extended trial membership period, so is excellent value compared to simply buying advertising space on other sites!
