  2. Formula One. The most successful country in Formula One history with 19 championships from 10 drivers is (fanfare) Britain. Second is Germany with 12 championships from 3 drivers. The current champion is British and was a talented singer and stage performer who had been in the musical Hamilton. He drives the silver car called a Merks as it's built by famous ex-racing cyclist Eddie Merks. Zee bast ian Fettle (harshly named in some peoples' eyes) had earlier driven the blue car with great success despite often crashing from driving angry. He now drove the red car (called forRoary) and despite using the same tactics, had much less success. A young newcomer, Max No Stoppen, (from the Land of Nethers) now drove the blue car. He was so talented that when his team said he must come in for tyres he refused as he (correctly) knew best. His team was called Red bullrunning, based in Pamplona. It had been hoped that an American driver would join the race series and his name was John McLane. He was Law Enforcement's version of Rab C Nesbitt...a bit of an alky who wore a dirty simmit. He defeated criminals by using extreme language. Sadly he failed his driving test when he went off road and bounced thru Central Park leaving diehard fans disappointed. Orthodox racing theory stated there was only one racing line around a circuit but an innovative Hungarian engineer called Scalextric Slotcar, discovered and demonstrated an alternative line. The blue cars were especially skilful exponents of his method. Cars became ever faster and more dangerous so to make things safer someone had the 'bright idea' of fitting a snow plough scoop at the rear to slow them down. Sadly lack of visibility thru the scoop sometimes meant rear-end shunts occurred when going slower behind the 'safety car'. It was decided to make a 'switchable gap' in the scoop to aid vision and luckily it aided overtaking as well. This method of overtaking is known as DRS (dire racing spectacle). If drivers broke the rules, officials overseeing enforcement would issue penalties. Penalties did not apply when the two cars were from the same team. Who can forget the dramatic crash between the two silver cars driven by the champion and then teammate Niko Iceberg? Instead they were caned by team boss Toto who was from Africa. Some naysayers said F1 was not exciting but they had never watched a postal chess match nor televised fishing and were just carping. When it came to going 'round in circles, Britain led the World. Rejoice at that.

  3. Okay, I noticed there are alot of questions about child seats in westfields / kitcars with so few suitable solutions / answers with photos. I hope the following helps someone. My Boy is 4 in 2 weeks weighs around 15.5kg and is below average height for his age. He is excited to go out in daddies 'racing car'. So a safe and legal seating arrangement is required. Car is 1996 SEW with Westfield fibreglass racing seats with vinyl upholstery. 4 point harness with 3" shoulder straps ad 2" waist straps. Did alot of research on here, locost sites and Caterham forums looking for a solution. I bought a narrow cheap booster seat from Amazon and also a bubble bum. Both of which fit, but have a big gap at the back. Leaving the existing seat providing zero back and head support. Obvioisly cushions would pack it out but the belts are also too high to fit correftly on a childs Shoulders.. so doesnt work for my car / child combo certainly would'nt be me going ALARP with the risk to my child. So cut to the chase... i have bought a group 2/3 booster from Halfords and it seems to fit very well. Base is narrow enough to fit snug in the racing seats and the back pivots at the bottom and rests against the existing seat. Lap straps can tighten nicely into his hips and the shoulder straps go through guides to set the correct height for ages 4 years old to 12... 15kg - 36kg. All for £25 https://www.halfords.com/baby-and-child/car-seats/booster-seats/halfords-essentials-high-back-booster-seat-102636.html And photo .... Combined with a helmet, goggles, warm clothes and perhaps some ear defenders (exhaust is my side) we're good to go...

  7. I used that exact seat for my lad last year. It was the only seat I could find that was narrow enough to fit. (I thought I had cracked it with another seat, but I made the school boy error of testing it on the drivers seat, only to find out later that the passenger side is narrower!) In terms of child car seats it's pretty budget and doesn't offer loads of protection. But what it did was held him in tight and put the belts in the right place both for the lap and also the shoulders.

  8. Sunday, drove from Essex to Bourne, Lincs, B&B and in parking, a clunk, was stuck in gear and gear stick not connected to anything. The well known Rover R380 gearbox design fault, with a small grub screw coming loose, and selector becoming disconnected. Monday morning had AA transport my SEiW V8 to Halls Garage, just 2.5 miles north of Bourne. The forecourt full of classic cars, mainly MGB's including V8's so I knew this was a good place. Owner Steve Hall soon had mechanics working on the car and I was immediately impressed - they certainly knew what they were doing and indeed Steve had experienced the same issue in his own car some time before. I caught the bus back to Bourne and was investigating bus/train availability back to Essex but in a few short hours a phone call to say job done and tested. Bus back to the garage, even original grub screw found and loctited this time, transmission tunnel covers perfectly replaced and 5 forward gear again. Charge - £78 - what a fantastic service and enabling me to thrash around the Lincs roads the next day. They even build kit cars so well worth a visit. Highly recommended and thanks again Steve. https://www.hallsgarage.co.uk Brian .
