Okay, I noticed there are alot of questions about child seats in westfields / kitcars with so few suitable solutions / answers with photos. I hope the following helps someone. My Boy is 4 in 2 weeks weighs around 15.5kg and is below average height for his age. He is excited to go out in daddies 'racing car'. So a safe and legal seating arrangement is required. Car is 1996 SEW with Westfield fibreglass racing seats with vinyl upholstery. 4 point harness with 3" shoulder straps ad 2" waist straps. Did alot of research on here, locost sites and Caterham forums looking for a solution. I bought a narrow cheap booster seat from Amazon and also a bubble bum. Both of which fit, but have a big gap at the back. Leaving the existing seat providing zero back and head support. Obvioisly cushions would pack it out but the belts are also too high to fit correftly on a childs Shoulders.. so doesnt work for my car / child combo certainly would'nt be me going ALARP with the risk to my child. So cut to the chase... i have bought a group 2/3 booster from Halfords and it seems to fit very well. Base is narrow enough to fit snug in the racing seats and the back pivots at the bottom and rests against the existing seat. Lap straps can tighten nicely into his hips and the shoulder straps go through guides to set the correct height for ages 4 years old to 12... 15kg - 36kg. All for £25 https://www.halfords.com/baby-and-child/car-seats/booster-seats/halfords-essentials-high-back-booster-seat-102636.html And photo .... Combined with a helmet, goggles, warm clothes and perhaps some ear defenders (exhaust is my side) we're good to go...4 points

There were no signs if the first wave, except exactly what we are seeing now, Europe wide and local upward trends in cases. There is no sign of a second wave except my local hospital going from single figures to over 50 in a week. Why is the spread of age/ethnicity/underlying conditions within these hospitalisations relevant, nobody bothered last time, we just totted them up and fired them squarely at the government "we are the worst and it is your fault because you acted too slowly" Beggars belief that we now criticise them for being cautious , Beggars belief that we might think the age/ethnicity/underlying conditions of the victims would affect whether we bother controlling the spread or not. This frustrates me, month after month of charts comparing Covid with other killers , except in the weeks when it was our biggest cause of death, they went quiet then. We quickly forget that we have had Covid in a cage, and with access to perhaps 10% of the population it has killed 40,000 people. It is like a zookeeper saying "that lion has only killed three people since we caged it, we should let it out" Where Covid was in the table of killers in August means absolutely nothing, just as it did in Feb and March. We have tasked the government with assessing what might be the situation in 6 or 8 weeks, and acting accordingly, while still waving a big stick at them in case their crystal ball fails. Jim1 point

Good advice, thanks @Ian Kinder (Bagpuss) - Joint Peak District AO @Julie Hall - Peak District AO I'm not that rich either, a fine would probably result in the quickest divorce on record! 😂 More than happy to help organise something small and controlled (sub 6) locally if anyone is interested. I'm quite close to Derby, Tamworth, Nottingham, Leicester etc but due to work commitments I struggle to get to the evening weekday area get togethers that @Garry Bunn - Derby and Notts AO and @Ian Tolfree (tolf) - WSCC AO Rep kindly organise. @NatalieT let me know and we can have a chat.1 point

You risk a £200 fine if more than 6 people turn up, I am not that rich.1 point

I’ve always thought it unbelievably laughable that any government thinks it can trust the people to do the right thing voluntarily when our track record in that respect is dire, as demonstrated regularly at polling stations. You can’t trust us unless we’re forced to do it and even then you have to fine us. Then again, when you get elected politicians telling you to wear a mask on public transport and not doing it themselves and unelected advisors thinking they’re above the official advice and taking eye tests by driving 50 miles, getting non-compliance is hardly a surprise, is it? As I’ve said before - I like humanity; it’s people I can’t stand.1 point

MI at 48, 2 x stents (didn’t get the 1st in the right location). Awake throughout and didn’t feel a thing, out of hospital in a couple of days and back at work full time after 6 weeks although not at full pace for a couple of months. That was 2013 and, other than a handful of pills each morning, fit and healthy.1 point

On March 12th there had been 9 deaths recorded in the UK, we have spent 6 months criticising them for not shutting down then , or indeed months before. Now you seem to suggest they are overreacting because the death figures haven't leapt (yet). We will be a month behind the curve if we react to deaths, and a month behind the curve in March/April was 20,000 dead. Hospital admissions have gone from 30 or 40 a day, to nearer 250, a fairly worrying indicator...1 point

I had a single stent fitted in 2017 at age 62, fit for my age, I only picked up the symptoms when I was going full tilt on a cross trainer, but they showed me an image, 2 sections of the main (LAD) artery with what looked like a thin piece of string connecting them (99.5% closed, his words not mine) I genuinely think if I hadn't found it, it would have found me, if you know what I mean, so finding it is step one, and puts you in the hands of the best in the world at this, these teams are doing thousands of these a year now, they know exactly what they are doing. They have to give you the 'worst case' talk, but stents seem pretty much a formality, natural to be nervous but I was awake and fairly relaxed throughout, you don't feel much if anything of what they are doing, I went to the shop on the way home and for a fair walk the day after. When you say 'stents' have they suggested how many? Where are you having it done? Definitely follow up on the Cardiac rehabilitation, supervised return to activity levels, I am back confidently at pre-stent exercise levels now. You'll be fine, you may feel the benefit very soon after - blood flowing freely where it was restricted before. Anything I can help with PM me. Jim1 point

No government of any colour would be able to move swiftly enough in this situation if every decision had to be debated in parliament. In an ideal world of course more oversight is preferable but the Covid-19 situation is far from ideal. And it's not like if the government get it wrong they can't be voted out in three or four years, so I don't see the problem. If Boris gets it wrong, he'll be out. In fact where I do see the problem is with the population of this country. The government aren't spreading the virus. They are trying to prevent it for the good of everybody (including their own re-election chances), yet it seems like plenty of people think there is sinister intent. I can't tell you the amount of contempt I feel for non social distancers and non mask wearers right now. Apart from a few cases where there is a genuine medical need, masks are not "difficult" to wear. It's not like we're being asked to stay indoors and never see the light of day again. A mask is a VERY small price to pay and if enough people stopped being idiots we could be almost virus free in quite short order. Sadly even a full lockdown wasn't enough because we all saw plenty reports of non-compliance during lockdown as to keep the virus continuously in circulation and in enough strength in numbers to precipitate the current second wave. How this can be blamed on the government when the likely transmission medium is by "rebels" is beyond me. Fewer deaths are almost undoubtedly down to the knowledge gleaned over the last few months that have shown Ibuprofen to be effective against swelling (it is an anti-inflammatory after all) and a couple of cheap steroids (hydrocortisone and dexamethasone) and anti-virals (azithromycin and remdesivir among others) to be effective in helping to improve outcomes of the most seriously ill. This information, Trump notwithstanding, has been circulated to the civilised world quickly enough to help prevent the high mortality seen previously. And a note from personal experience, my mothers care home reported a case last week. Just one resident who tested positive, and elderly person obviously, but with ZERO symptoms. Had it not been for the care homes rigorous testing regime this single infection could have spread like wildfire, whereas at the moment we are informed that just one person remains infected, 7 days after the initial detection which gives us hope.1 point

On the flip side to some of the anecdotes I parked my 911 in a Leeds McDonalds car park earlier this week. I parked with no cars either side and went in to order my food (the drive through was closed for some reason). When I came back with my order there was an old ish Corsa parked next to my car and a women looking really distressed. She said the wind took her door as she was coming out and smacked hard against my rear arch and had been waiting for me to come out to explain what happened. Luckily I have that clear protective stuff on the rear arches (mainly to protect from stone chips) and this saved the arch from any damage. You could see where the door hit as there was a smudge but this wiped away and there was no damage. The lady insisted I took her details but under closer inspection at home there is still no damage so I texted her back so she wasn't worried. I'm aware it could just have happened and she was preparing to do a runner but I actually think she was one of those few genuine people that drive our roads! I just wish everyone else was like that!1 point

An absolute blast this afternoon/ evening. Headed off just after 12 to monifieth to meet Dave, Ann and their westy. Took all the back roads and then the coastal road south in glorious sunshine . Stayed a bit longer than intended and stopped for a mcd’s and fuel then it was retrace my steps chasing the setting sun . I really forgot how exhilarating it is driving the westy in the dark, cold but fun as the temperatures plummeted with the sun . Just short of 300 miles today. Anyway great to meet up and shamefully forgot to get a picture there , guess I’ll have to go back 😃 but here’s a couple of others.1 point

Just wanted to say how good it is to be back as a WSCC member! I bought an old (1989 chassis) SEiW around 10 years ago. I owned if for 6 years and in that time had many rounds of upgradeitous. I sold the car 4 years ago and regretted it pretty much immediately. A month ago I managed to track down the owner and bought it back! Many people asked why but my first drive put a huge grin on my face - it has a Dunnell 1800 Zetec that I purchased through this site when originally a member. Why this club is so good is the willingness of people to help out And share info. I just rebuilt the entire back end which is the old style English diff with Westfield case and uprights. I managed to track down all the bearings, seals, spec and information from very helpful club members and old threads. So thanks all, it’s a great club to be a part of.1 point
