On the flip side to some of the anecdotes I parked my 911 in a Leeds McDonalds car park earlier this week. I parked with no cars either side and went in to order my food (the drive through was closed for some reason). When I came back with my order there was an old ish Corsa parked next to my car and a women looking really distressed. She said the wind took her door as she was coming out and smacked hard against my rear arch and had been waiting for me to come out to explain what happened. Luckily I have that clear protective stuff on the rear arches (mainly to protect from stone chips) and this saved the arch from any damage. You could see where the door hit as there was a smudge but this wiped away and there was no damage. The lady insisted I took her details but under closer inspection at home there is still no damage so I texted her back so she wasn't worried. I'm aware it could just have happened and she was preparing to do a runner but I actually think she was one of those few genuine people that drive our roads! I just wish everyone else was like that!3 points

Just wanted to say how good it is to be back as a WSCC member! I bought an old (1989 chassis) SEiW around 10 years ago. I owned if for 6 years and in that time had many rounds of upgradeitous. I sold the car 4 years ago and regretted it pretty much immediately. A month ago I managed to track down the owner and bought it back! Many people asked why but my first drive put a huge grin on my face - it has a Dunnell 1800 Zetec that I purchased through this site when originally a member. Why this club is so good is the willingness of people to help out And share info. I just rebuilt the entire back end which is the old style English diff with Westfield case and uprights. I managed to track down all the bearings, seals, spec and information from very helpful club members and old threads. So thanks all, it’s a great club to be a part of.3 points

For sale is my 1998 Westfield SEW fitted with a 1.8L "silvertop" Zetec engine. Background I bought this in April 2014 from a gentleman in Wales who was the 3rd owner. He explained the car had started life as a Sprint car before he bought it, but that he only ever used it on the road, and due to life and children the car sat unused in his garage. At the time it had a bog standard 1.6L Crossflow engine on twin 40s and that kept me entertained for a couple of years whilst I concentrated on getting the car to look how I wanted it. In August 2016 I was offered the opportunity to upgrade the Crossflow with the current engine, a 1.8L Silvertop Zetec with ITBs by another WSCC member so over the winter period I swapped the engine and sold the Crossflow. The joy was short-lived as only 1000 miles after installation, the big end bearings spun and I was left crying 😭. The engine was then rebuild by JA Kits&Customs and in April 2018 the car was back on the road. And that sort of brings us to up to date. Outside - Westfield Chrome Yelllow "Kit" bodywork with a quick release nose cone and scuttle - Carbon NV carbon cycle wings with integrated DRL/indicators - 3M carbon vinyl rear arch protectors - Unknown make carbon double bubble aeroscreen - 13" John Brown Wheels "Smoothie" steel wheels in 5.5J on the front and 7J on the back both fitted with Nankang NS-2R tyres in 185/60R13. - 4" Dominator head lights - Roadvision R8 rear light units - "RAC" roll bar with Hella 3rd brake light - Intatrim Endeavour seats bolted to the floor - Westfield 4 point seatbelts - OMP steering wheel with removable boss and indicator buttons - Playskool "carbon" dashboard - VDO cockpit instrumentation with white gauge faces (except for oil pressure) - Shift lights - Westfield gear knob - 3D printed centre console, gear and handbrake surround - Tonneau cover - Re-located fuel filler Inside - Westfield supplied 1998 Ford "silvertop" 1.8L Zetec (RKC engine code) - Jenvey ITBs with Penny&Giles contactless TPS - MBE 956E ECU mapped by Northampton Motorsport to 177 bhp / 142 Nm and a 7200 rpm limit - MSD coil pack - Denso Iridium twin-tipped spark plugs - Ford Sierra 2.0 "Type 9" 5 speed gearbox refurbished by Graham Millar (windy) in 2016 - Westfield top mounted pedal box - Clubsport AGM battery - CTek indicator panel charger - Programmable coolant temperature fan switch with manual override - Westfield front uprights - Unknown make disk brakes on the front - Spax dampers on the front - Live axle with 3.54:1 plated LSD refurbished by Martin Harvey (marto303) / Graham Millar (windy) in 2016 - Plays-Kool supplied Protech 14" open dampers with 175lb springs on the rear - Ford RS2000 9" drum brakes on the rear - Extended range (40L) fuel tank with a Landrover V8 internal fuel pump and VDO compatible float tube sender - Motad stainless steel 6" repackable exhaust silencer Other stuff I've got a stack of original paperwork including build manual, along with years and years of receipts. I've also kept a blog on these forums up to date, which contains every single thing I've done or fixed. You can read all about it here: https://forum.wscc.co.uk/forum/blogs/blog/48-quintens-mighty-blog/. The only issue is that all my older pictures were hosted on my own web server, of which the hdd crashed at some point with no recovery possible. After that photos were hosted on the forums, but it does mean my early posts read a little odd without pictures. The car is taxed, MOT'd (18/10/2021) and insured so Covid friendly passenger rides can be accommodated. I'm in Northampton a couple of miles from either J16 or J15A of the M1. I'm looking for £11,000 but am open to offers. Give me a call/text/whatsapp on 07971 125839 or email me at quinten (at) awooga.nl.1 point

Sorry Russ, If mine sell I'll split the profit. Being the rare 'bottom left cut' version it must be worth £6, so how about a 50/50 split then you are up a minimum of a pound? I'll even cover the shipping.1 point

Must admit I was disappointed by the car having used it for 1 week, in that the engine needed stirring to use at everyday speeds, finish was poor and fuel consumption was terrible. However sounds like the engine really suits the Westies lightweight application, maybe where it should have been in the first place.1 point

If we are on anecdotes, many years ago I had a custom painted Ford Capri Which was my pride and joy. Parked in a car park in Barnsley two young ladies pulled up next to me and flung open the door onto the body line as it went down the side, denting the side of my car and taking a chunk out of the paint. I got out and politely spoke with these two and the abuse I got back would have , at the time shocked a docker, pretty normal song lyrics now. They waddled away laughing and saying more rubbish. Back then I had a temper, still have but control it now, so I waited until they were out of sight and then kneed every single panel in on her mini. I am not proud of that now but some people will only ever understand that type of action. Not sure she would found that so funny after all it was just a car Is it any worse now, yes because everyone is angry and "Dissing" anyone is now likely to end in bloodshed, all we can do is try to not be someone's target for a vendetta, but more importantly we must complain when the police do nothing as the last poster has shown sometimes they are lacking in the will. I wrote to our local police and crime commissioner when she was explaining that the police get a share of speed awareness and all the other courses you can attend, attend. She appeared not to agree that perhaps if there was a sliding scale bounty on other crimes, say £50 per burglar, £1k per murderer that perhaps they might pay more attention.1 point

Two and a half years ago, my poor neighbour lost control of his MGB in Wales. The corner on the B road he was going around turned out to be slick with cow poo and he slid off (Aquapooed? Poo-planed?) at 15mph into a gate post, which screwed the front end something awful. He then spent the next two years rebuilding and repairing it - I helped him - and it was back on the road this spring. 👍 On Friday night in London, he was driving in a 20 mph zone when a driver doing 50 mph blew a red light and hit him and ricocheted off into some street furniture, then ran off, leaving his car behind with an empty vodka bottle and pot paraphernalia inside it. This was the result: My friend is determined to rebuild it, but he’s understandably gutted.0 points

Let’s put it this way - the accident happened on the Friday night in front of a copper in a police car 🚔 who gave chase on foot but lost him. My neighbour called the following Wednesday because he hadn’t heard anything, and the police said they hadn’t even written up the report yet, let alone passed it on to traffic! So AFAIK, he still hasn’t a clue if the car was stolen or the fate of the scumbag. The car that hit him was showing as insured, but who knows if they’ll pay out. If the driver was drunk or stoned, probably not.0 points

Really makes you feel a bit sad. Time for another anecdote. My brother was fortunate enough, through his own hard work for 20 years and saving, to buy his dream car, an Aston Martin V8 Vantage about 8 years ago... he was sitting behind a car waiting to turn right at traffic lights which where on green. Car in front, slams into reverse and accelerates as hard as it could smashing the front of my brothers car. why? anyones guess.... Guy gets out and had his gf + kid in his car, gave false details and drove off. Brother tracked the guy down on facebook and reported him to the police. The police adamantly stated it could not be this gentleman as he was banned from driving for...wait for it; driving a car whilst disqualified... ???? ... no insurance, no tax, no MOT... police couldn't care less... bro had to get it repaired out of his own pocket.... yet Mr / Mrs law abiding citizen (you and I) even dare forget to insure or tax or have a slightly small number plate and we get the full weight of the law... Even if they do catch the guy that smashed into his MG, the police will do nothing and said scumbag will be back on the road before you know it. What annoys me, is the scumbags of this world have the exact same democratic vote as you or I. An equal say despite not having an equal input into society. (sorry getting a bit political)... grrrr.....0 points
