  2. Well - that was one of the best-attended Peak District runs I've been on. Great to see so many cars and owners. I woke up to clear blue skies and absolutely no wind - perfect Westie weather. On the climb out of Ashbourne, the Peak District micro-climate took over and gave us cloud, gales and what felt like single-digit temperatures. There were still a handful of drivers wearing shorts though. An epic bacon buttie was followed by an epic journey around some of the best roads the Peak District has to offer. Sadly, Julie managed to line us up behind a bus, a Sooty van, a caravan and an articulated truck. However, they were merely minor inconveniences compared with the hundreds of lycra-arsed cyclists that Julie managed to track down - she seems to have a talent for seeking out Lycra, as it's a recurring theme of our drives out. Given the latest COVID restrictions, it's a shame to think we won't get such a great group together until at least next year

To say it was chilly in them hills was the understatement of the day 🥶 thank god the group of people warmed the atmosphere up. It was our first group meet for this year so we were not disappointed by seeing lots of friendly faces, a great drive round the peaks followed by a nice piece of cake, see you soon folks luv us southern softies ps it was lovely and warm back in brum 😜 back home to the sunshine till next time.

  16. The RP is fast. Maybe Vettel can put it in a solid 3rd where he isn't fighting much so he gets close(r) to his comfort zone. And being in the mix might help him to re-discover his "racing" capability. He must have had it as he came through the ranks and right here right now (and next year 'cos the rules aren't changing much) the RP/Aston Martin might offer him better tools for the job than Ferrari can at the moment.

  18. Absolutely Dave, it's a hell of a car and a proper bargain at that money. I really hope we see it out in the Speed Series again, it's such an awesome car.

  19. Really good turnout this morning, 10 cars ,11 if we count Barry's Puma. Or 8 Westfields, 1 Cobra and a Formula 27. I think the good weather was a factor. Breakfast outside again.

  20. Great to see everyone and thank you Julie for organising a fantastic trip out ... was lovely to see a train of Westfield's from the back with my heated steering wheel on full 😉 Saying no names so embarrassment is spared ... but remember to look on your nose before asking staff and fellow members where your glasses are or @Julie Hall - Peak District AO will feature you in the magazine 😉 🙂 Some pics from me which I'm afraid aren't great as I was taking them through the windscreen.

  21. We had joining us Andy and Anne, Andy and Becky, Andy Greenstreak, Bill and dad Bill, Mike Snappy and son Ryan (14), Nigel O, Martin Neptune, Simon, Dave E, Ian K, Jim, AndyR in the Porsche, potential new members Jay and daughter and later on Chris and Mo. 14 cars not bad to say we only decided on Friday night to put a run on, so thank you all for coming. Breakfast at The Bull Heat wave? it was freezing up there yet as I write this I am stood in shorts and a t-shirt, weird. After breakfast and Ian's stories of his big, hot tunnel we decided to go and count how many cyclists were in the Peak District. It sometimes felt that way, Tour de France on the TV and they all come out, says she who is on a cycling holiday next week, it's Rutland Water so it's 95% off road thankfully. The roads were relatively quiet as it was still early, you should have seen the traffic that we passed in the opposite direction coming in to the Peak District as we exited later on. Simon has got a great trick there, photographing the cars in front and picking up the others behind in his mirror, just like Ian did the other week, I am jealous. I notice the naughty Honda Boys were at the back, the fastest place in the convoy, on a VTECH Venture. I have no pics on the move today. After a good wiz around, finding all the chevrons that we could, a squeak of the tyres and suddenly we were back where we started, the most COVID friendly place for all of us to be. The cake arrived, what is it with these Brummies, just like @Andy Westwood, Becky's cake came out twice as big as everyone else's, so we cake shamed her while Andy said his prayers. Mo was busy 'losing her glasses' but Chris asked me not to mention it, hope the 'doyle' fitted anyway. So here we are parked in some odd places at The Bull at lunchtime And soon one by one we left, with there being so many I thought I would ask if we had cleared the bill, I remember last year walking out without paying in the town centre, I felt like a right crim. Most places we pay on ordering and here is no exception so I don't know why they changed it today, I think to stop us all from coming inside - COVID friendly see. Simon next to Andy's Porsche Jim's new Honda Mike and Ryan's car Bill's car Andy and Anne's car Wow that was a great turnout but now we are restricted to meeting in a group of 6 people for the forseeable future. Glen and I will still be out and about and perhaps we can work out a fair way to see some of you. Thanks for coming everyone.

  32. In short answers and all IMHO: > Vettel is past it and has been for some time. He’s only won 14 races since 2015 out of 110 since joining Ferrari, which hardly speaks well about leading a team. He’s fast in a perfect car, but the difference between him and Hamilton is that Lewis makes a good car competitive and a great car unbeatable - Vettel can’t win in an uncompetitive car. > Was Perez treated badly? Yep - welcome to the Piranha Club as Ron Dennis would say. He saved Force India by wielding a knife when asked, and was stabbed with another knife that he has to carry around for the rest of the year. How he’s going to be out of a job while Grosjean still races is a mystery. > As above, Vettel is a dangerous, reckless driver who should have had his super license suspended on a number of occasions. Christian Horner is much to blame for this, letting Vettel get away with whatever he wanted without punishment. > Watch out if daddy’s boy Lance starts outperforming Sebastian. Toys will be ejected from the racing pram. > Much gets written about what a nice guy Seb is off the track. I’m afraid I have almost no respect left for him when he’s on the track. I think for Seb, this is as ill-advised as Schumacher’s coming out of retirement to drive for Mercedes. Time will tell.

  33. I’m just starting to rebuild my fire damaged 1989 SE. Im looking for someone with a similar aged SE in or around the Bristol UK area to compare the nose come shape too... I have a shape/form mismatch between one side and the other but unsure if it due to the fire and heat or wether it was always there as part of the original inaccuracies of the moulding! before and after pictures below !
