While I was on holiday in Barcelona last year, I came down with a case of the flu. It quickly got so bad that I realised I needed medical assistance, so I called down to the hotel concierge. ”So sorry to hear that,” he said, “but don’t worry, I’ll send the hotel doctor up straight away.” Within minutes, the doctor was in the room and checking my symptoms, eventually giving me some meds to ease my discomfort. “Anything else?”, he said. ”No thanks - I can’t believe this place has its own doctor!” He smiled at me and said, “No one expects the Spanish inn physician.”8 points

We will be having dinner at the Highland Moors on Friday and Saturday. Let me have your Friday dinner choices, on Whats App YDG please. Road kill game pie winning at the moment. Saturday's choices will be made when we are there. Let's make sure we comply with the Highland Moors Covid regulations. Sue has strict rules as to what we can and cannot do. Of course these only apply in communal areas, not in your rooms. 😇😈3 points

Must be getting old. Early starts mean an afternoon nap, but we were there early enough to be the third Westy on site and had inadvertantly parked with the other lot. Joking apart, an excellant day out and nice to meet up with people from other parts of the country, shame that the paddock was out of bounds though. Loved the drive home, some B roads then mostly A41, with some bendy bits that got good when a Golf thinks it is quick, then let Wolverhamton and Birmingham know how a beautyfull car sounds.3 points

So i've been a member of the club on and off for a few years but never posted. Finally in the stage of having finished a car that i purchased the kit for almost 10 years ago... I have a good excuse (i think) - moved to the other side of the world twice and life tended to get in the way. At any rate I finally have a date for IVA so looks like one day soon i should hopefully be on the road... Kit is mazda SDV using a mk1 1.8 engine (but with head from a 2.5 for the VVT).2 points

The bonnet on mine has a butchered hole covered up with a trim panel. It is aluminium folded to shape, with 3M carbon fibre wrap on it. Slightly hidden in this picture but I am sure you get the idea. A previous owner fitted this. I have a sheet of carbon fibre ready to replace it when I get around to painting the bonnet, plus I will use black pop rivets. I realise the hole you have to cover is a little larger but I suspect you will be able to achieve a tidy finish with this approach.2 points

I'm more than happy to meet up for a blast, especially over North Wales area. Did a few miles yesterday and the roads were quite quiet. The only thing i try to avoid is driving the Westfield on weekends. Too many motorbikes twattin about and lots of lycra clad idiots blocking the b roads up. Let me know when you're free....?1 point

Quick update. The tightening of the ring that retains the cartridge seems to have fixed it thanks. Probably not tignened up enough in the factory. However meanwhile, the manufacturer also sent me an entire new tap! Great service from them (Gavaer, via Amazon).1 point

So, you don't find me in a dress scary if I'm not wearing green hair! I'm now very worried 🤦♂️1 point

I'll get some measurements on my bonnet this weekend, but in the unlikely case that your measurements match my "lowline" car I'll be more than interested ! (and as a side note, it is possible to patch the hole. Not a fun job, and ideally you have to work on the car with the bonnet in place not to introduce warping, but...) Doable. Cardboard "backmold", polyester fumes, and lots of sanding with a long straight block (a spirit level with double sided tape and 240 grit works in my case)1 point

Believe me, it was a more than a tad scary from this end too! 😄 Thanks for all the kind words everyone!1 point

I didn't know where to put this but just seen on bookface Over the years I have posted literally thousands of updates on this page regarding the activities at AB Performance Ltd Many of you have been with us since the early days and watched AB Performance grow from myself and the superbike engine business to the full on production of no less than four superbike powered cars, sharing with us our triumphs and failures, highs and lows along the way. Over the years we have sought to bring you many solutions to help simplify the fitment of superbike engines into cars. Well my friends this is to be one of my last posts on the page, 2020 started with so much promise but has descended into a torrid year and after much soul searching I have taken the decision to close the business. Over the next few weeks we will be finishing off the few remaining cars and sending out the last parts that have been ordered, after this there will be a period of time while we sell the remaining stock and equipment (so keep your eyes open here - you might grab a bargain) I will shortly be releasing the details of the new owners of the various projects so if you own an AB Performance vehicle don't worry the support will still be available and I hope you will support the new owners as you have ourselves. AB Performance has been a massive part of my life for some 18 years and whilst recent months have been incredibly stressful, I have loved sharing in your various endeavours over the years. I would like to thank each and every one of you for your support over the years it truly has been amazing. My special thanks also to Nick and Dave for their dedication over the years, with over 70 years of motorsport experience between them, they really have been the backbone of the business. I am not sure what comes next for myself quite yet but I am looking forward to spending some long overdue time with my wonderful Wife Sheena who has given up so much to allow me to run AB Performance over the years. So for now I wish you all the very best of success with your chosen disciplines and I look forward to seeing the results of your exploits Warmest regards Andy AB Performance Ltd0 points
