  1. It has been much, much, much too long since I have made any progress on the rebuild of my Dad's beloved Wezzie. I can now however let you all know that the rebuild is 100% underway. I have pennies ( the missus believes ) to not only get it started but hopefully see it finished. With the help of a couple friends and my Dad's friend, whom helped him build it originally we have her fully stripped and of to the chassis shop. Here are some pics of the strip down. My Dad had her running dual fuel with an LPG tank here which was amongst the first to come out. It was certainly very tight in there, so time to get the gearbox decoupled ready to lift the engine. Luckily we have an overhead crane in the shop to help with the heavy lifting With the engine and box free we could move onto the wiring harness and all the interior. With no immediate plans in place for getting the chassis straightened, we decided to leave the rear axle on so that we could wheel round the shop should it be in the way. As you can see the damage to the chassis is quite extensive. Since this picture was taken we have removed the rear end and taken it for repair of which I'm hoping to have some pictures of tonight. Whilst it is away for repair I have been learning what I can from the forum and ordering parts ready for the rebuild. So far I have ordered new wishbones, bushes, fasteners, ball joints and nose cone from Westfield, and I've managed to pick up replacement headlights, brake master cylinder and shocks from Ebay. My next plan is to go down the workshop to clean and organise all the parts I removed ready for installation. I can't say how excited and relieved I am to finally have this underway, despite the lack in progress since my last post, it has always been in the back of my mind itching away my sanity. I hope you all reading and following my progress. See you back on the road soon 😄

  2. As a way to pass some time during my furlough, I have invested in some cutting and pressing gear, along with teaching myself how to use open source photo editors and illustrators. First result, my "Pre-Lit Pop Art" tee shirt.

  3. In the news today, convicted hit man Jimmy “Three Toes” Lorenzo confessed to killing infamous gangster Barry McTavish in a rice field, using only two small porcelain figurines. Police stated it may be unique in the history of contract killings, being the only knick-knack paddy whack on record.

  5. Spoken with the bodyshop - they think they can repair it with some fibreglass mattnig on the underside and some very careful resin filling for the bare carbon bit The spending continues though - while the nosecone was off, I got annoyed with the state of the original Polo radiator - very shabby. Cooling was marginal at best, with the fans on almost permanently in traffic. A quick phone call and a couple of hundred quid later and a nice shiny 55mm core Coolex rad is on its way

  8. I know - that surprised me. Apparently it’s only motorhomes and caravans as they have their own loos and showers? But we did see tents on the beach front at Applecross - maybe they were “day tents” - anyway sorry to divert the thread so here’s another pic (mine’s in there honest!)

  17. I have a couple of these 650gsm dual layer carbon fibre dashboards fresh out of the moulds and ready to go. The 650gsm weave on these dashboards is so much more noticeable than the usual 204gsm weave. Super lightweight, 100% carbon fibre dashboard which will fit the Westfield SEiW. £140 inc post As per admin request - I am currently discussing with the WSCC how we can supply these to members

  22. I wonder if this excellent thread, which just by reading it makes me proud to be a member of the club, would be better served in the Members Only area. It seems a little misplaced as none of this has been “Stuff” or “Nonsense“ and moving it there would make it visible for our eyes only as club members (non-searchable on Google), which might make others feel more comfortable about opening up and discussing things. Just a thought.

  25. Not sure if WSCC is the target audience for this but you never know......... Highly successful well developed 106 GTi, absolutely ready to use as a fast and reliable trackday toy or a competitive race car (took a podium at its last race). This car has been owned by me since 2003. I bought it as a road/trackday car and slowly converted it to where it is today. It is still regularly trackdayed as well as raced and has had no expense spared in it’s development and maintenance. Despite an average driver it has managed numerous class and overall race wins. Brief spec Engine - 1.6 16v recently rebuilt after over ten years of totally reliable service. Forged rods and pistons. Uprated cams. Rotrex C30/94 supercharger. Emerald ecu, switchable maps, pit lane limiter etc Intercooler, updated injectors, DV etc New engine is currently tuned to a safe/easy 250 bhp, this setup has previously run just over 300 (photo is of previous maximum). PeugeotSport baffled sump, oil cooler. Standard tank plus swirl pot to avoid all surge. Transmission- BE4 gearbox conversation with PeugeotSport 106 Cup bellhousing. Custom updated driveshafts with intermediate bearing on o/s to achieve equal lengths and eliminate torque steer. Gripper plate diff (spare quaife ATB included) Satchell Engineering quickshift . Chassis Full Satchell Engineering suspension installed and set up by Satchell. This is a fully rose jointed wide track front end including roll centre and bump steer correction, all new struts, arms, mounts, strengthening and bracing. Rear suspension is a rocker system to maximise adjustment and damper efficiency, new rear beam, uprated arb etc. This is the ultimate re-engineered suspension option for the 106, with dampers and installation it is around a £7k conversion and astonishing to drive. Brakes/wheels - 106 Cup 4-pot AP calipers with Hi-Spec rotors/bells, F4r Mintex pads. Standard rears with 1144 pads. Original ABS retained. Two sets of Dynamics wheels with 215 Direzzas. One set of Compomotive wheels, 195 Rainsports. Safety/scrutineering - Sparco seats (passenger seat included) Willans harnesses. Safety Devices cage. Cartek battery isolator. Lifeline 4l mech extinguisher. All passed scruitineering Sept 2019. Body/aero - Fibreglass bonnet/hatch. Fibreglass arched front wings. Rear arches extended. Carbon roof vent. Poly windows all round. Front splitter/bumper are quick removable without jacking. Rear spoiler. Current weight 900kg without driver with original dash/heater etc retained. It’s been a brilliant car to own but I’m looking at a new project and need to clear some space and funds so (as tends to be the way) it is for sale at a fraction of the build cost. Price, £16,000. you can reach me on here, at t11ner@yahoo.co.uk or 07957 358393

  26. Does someone knows about sporting regulations? Yesterday haas drivers were penalised for driving breaching rule 27.1 (driving without pitwall help). Then lando drove two laps where his engineer "drove" the car for him last week... how is that?...

  29. Brought mine home after full lockdown strip and rebuild( rebuilt rear axle and box, new clutch, new suspension and bushes on the back plus new seals and gaskets on the engine). It’s 8 miles from my workshop to home, took the 60 mile route 😂😂😂😂😂. Only problem I have is the backs a bit low and damaged the rear valance on my bumpy lane.

  30. As you may well recall my father passed away late March after contracting COVID 19. Today I uncovered his 1957 Daimler Conquest Century and afternoon a bit of fiddling and fettling I got it running. Sounded really sweet once warmed up.

  31. Hello Chris and welcome. I’m between Basingstoke and Tadley, so not far away. I have a 2.0L Zetec Seiw in Chrome yellow (the best colour, apparently) which I built 20 years ago. It’s been off the the road for about a year for some suspension upgrades (life gets in the way). With a few more local Westfield owners popping up I’d better hurry and get it back on the road. I also have a RS Clio 200.

  32. Welcome Chris, I am fairly close living at Ashford Hill and always up for a Covid safe meet. I belong to the local branch which meets at Maidenhead(Hare Hatch), although have not met due to Virus. I only finished mine last year getting all the engine sorted and now fully road ready, not looking to sell however as just getting the taste of POWER😁 Regards Jim

  33. A couple of weeks ago over a (socially distanced) beer with a neighbour of ours he was moaning about the price of the servicing of his wife's Q3, turns out they had quoted 600 odd quid to replace 2 front wishbone bushes . Thats just the bushes in their housings, not complete arms. Anyhow after nearly choking on said beer I suggested he'd be insane to pay that. Bring it over and I'll change them and he could owe me a beer. In the end we decided to go for 2 full arms so all the bushes and ball joints all from lemforder for less than 220 quid. I recieved a box of beer as reward and was very happy at that. However they went one step further and bought me another gift which I thought very thoughtful and was well chuffed with, which is an achievement as my Mrs says im the worse person to buy gifts for.

  39. Many years ago, in my parent's old Granada V6-powered '42 Willys trials truck, my dad had an old-school Dymo-tape label stuck on the dash on the passenger's side... ...which was irony epitomised, given the vehicle... I reckon it would be just as applicable to Westfields, given the lack of doors on most!
