Just spotted this (pardon the pun!) on Pistonheads. Not much of a write up, but the obligatory armchair experts in the comments make me laugh π https://www.pistonheads.com/news/ph-spottedykywt/westfield-seight---spotted/427581 point

Linden, I dont think you'll regret your membership cost there's such a diverse repository of knowledge on here which may repay those costs many times over.... π1 point

Hello lindon, as I said in the other post, you're welcome to join us on Sunday, 19th July for our breakfast meeting at the Swan and Cygnet on Denby Dale Road in Wakefield. We meet there on the third Sunday of the month. There is also the first Tuesday evening meeting at the Fox and Grapes on York Road near Barwick in Elmet from 7:30ish. Weekend runs should be starting again too. Hope to meet up sometime. Robin.1 point

Got to love the armchair critics!π Be boring if we were all the same though. I won't put the cat amongst the pidgeons and tell them about my carπ1 point

It's the 15th today, which means accommodation in Scotland is back on track. Two and a half weeks to go! Anymore keen for a fun day out - day-tripper or over-nighter?1 point

The future of F1 looks bright with Lando, George, and Max waiting to take over from Hamilton. It'll be interesting to see who proves to be the best. To me, Lewis is still the quickest and most consistent and is the standout "once a generation" driver. That wet lap was a thing of beauty, 1.2 seconds a lap in F1 is a lifetime! I remember watching this race in the late 90's when a young kid in a Senna helmet who'd just moved up to a new class showed everyone else how it's done in the wet... You could tell he had the "special sauce" right there!1 point

Some pennies added to the pot. Good luck with it, I completed it a few years back and just scraped under the 24 hours... Ben Nevis was easy, Scaffell was tough but Snowing was a real test... I was walking like John Wayne for a week! π1 point

I just had a thought..... Westfields are so light.... (with the exception of mine @730KG's) you could mod yours with swamp buggy tires and fit an outboard, the next gen amphibious toy would be born, and.... I must be feeling better because I've concluded that the week wasn't a total write off, I saw 2 otters, some kingfishers and herons.1 point

To be fair though, you have to spec components suitable for the terrain. The times you see an 18 stone chap on 23mm tyres on potholed roads - it's just not suitable. It gives cyclists a bad reputation when they're weaving round all the potholes, save the high pressure skinnies and super rigid carbon frames/ forks for track cycling and ride something a bit more robust. My 'road' bike has 40mm tyres, tubeless at 40psi and being a mountain biker, potholes and loose drain covers are no issue. Ridden 200-mile weekends on them over some terrible roads and they're a lot more comfortable than super skinnies for putting the miles in. They're a good compromise for British roads.1 point

To be fair I'm certain it wasn't a scam, however I wasn't comfortable with having a complete stranger at my house knowing just his first name, and him wanting to drive my car (alone due to 2m social distancing), in doing so I wanted to know how he would have fully comp insurance to do so, which led me to have dig deeper and find dubious facts which when I presented to the original contact I was told that because I didn't trust them the sale was off. Actually I'm quite happy, I've been out a few times in the car since and glad I've decided to keep it.1 point
