  1. So today we managed to start my dads (don homer) westfield up. For the first time i got behind the wheel, started it up and drove it out onto the drive. We cleaned and polished it. Hope ive done my dad proud. Hopefully next weekend i can practice on one of the car parks.

  2. Good morning, just joined the group as I have decided to get kit car. After a few years of consideration and always liking the idea owning/maybe building one I have narrowed my interest to a Westfield which seems to be the best one of the seven style. My Dad also has a nice pinto Westy which makes it more fun! Iam down on the South Coast near Deal, Kent and will be keeping an eye out for something as and when the right one pops up for sale (cash burning a hole). There are so many variations to choose from, any advice and opinion is most welcome! Thanks Ben

  6. It's not showing full at this minute.. but yes, I'd expect it to fill within the next week or two. If the government ease restrictions about overnight stays or camping on July 4th, it will fill instantly I reckon. 🤔

  7. hello sierra sdv build update. got starter kit on 2.7.2003 and building ever since. was a member of derby notts. and yorkshire areas as then we lived in sheffield at the time. some 14 years ago. then moved to isle of skye . still building car and joined the CLAN McWESTY not much building going on on skye tho. until..........furloughed for 8 weeks. after 3 weks off drinking and resting thought what else could i do and my wife said FINISH THAT WESTFIELD. so 4 weeks of buying new bits that i didnt need pre IVA. the CAR IS ALIVE ........last run engine in sierra 13.4.2003 22.4.2020 engine now runs in westy sdv. have met many nice people in all areas that we have been involved with through all the years of our build. i take it that some pics may be needed to show you all our new or not that new westy. and all the time we have been members this is my first post yeh..

  8. thanks all for the warm welcome! Ok, further to your helpful comments. I think I want from a Westy is... A Sunday drive sort of car, something to maintain and tinker with in the garage. Maybe also do a bit of touring and have the odd weekend away in the sun and also one that would be fun to have a blast round on my local Lydden Hill circuit or Brands Hatch. I don't fancy an all out race car (bike engine with no reverse), as sometimes it is nice just to enjoy a bimble around the countryside - as I find with the motorbikes too! But it does need to be lively and exciting to drive. Part of me would like to build one too, so I need to weigh that up against buying one complete and just enjoying tinkering and driving. I am sure this site will help loads with technical stuff too! cheers

  13. Please note these are 13", I bought these from a former member who advised me that they were 15" when I received them they were 13", seller went very quiet, so I'm stuck with them, I'm selling at a lot less than I paid in the hope that somebody can use them, both are in excellent condition with at least 4.5 mm tread.

  16. Beautiful looking car, love the colours, old school look with chrome and headlights and even the enamel badge on the nose - I recently saw a post from Chris Smith describing it as the sun setting (in the West) over a ploughed field hence Westfield, the three colours on yours (and your Dad's) really makes this stand out.

  20. It really is frightening. I lost a friend to COVID-19 on 10th May, 60 years old with no known underlying health issues. He worked in the NHS, it really brought it home to me. I for one am being very cautious, working from home as much as I can and minimising trips for shopping etc. We have a 4 year old and a 9 week old little man and I really do worry what the future holds for them. one thing I find infuriating is the increased cost of PPE. Before COVID-19 I was paying £3.00 for 100 nitrile gloves for my staff. Now £12.50! Some suppliers want £17.00!
