Tonight should have been our midsummer night's "Run to the sun" going to the east coast, and heading home late into the setting sun, but due to the lockdown the pub is shut, so instead we visited @BugMan at his home. Steve has been self isolating with his wife and not seen anyone from the club for around 3 months, so a run was arranged. It was supposed to be a small group of around 10 to 12 people, but things escalated with some NWKCOG coming along as part of a run they were organising. 6 of us met at the Swan and Cygnet for the half hour run to Steve's, taking a longer route to avoid speed humps and arriving first to get the pick of the cake made by Dawn. Luckily, not all of the NWKCOG came as there probably wouldn't have been enough room in the street, so 2 Westfields, 2 Tigers and a Grinnal Scorpion joined the 7 Westfields already there. Coffee and cake was consumed, cars and Carona talked about, and I hope everyone, especially Steve had a good time. Again, a big thank you to Dawn for the cake and their understanding neighbour's.4 points

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/motorsport/53115622 Former Formula 1 driver Alex Zanardi is in a "serious but stable" condition after having surgery on a head injury sustained in an accident during a handbike relay in his native Italy. The 53-year-old was involved in a crash with a lorry in Pienza on Friday. Zanardi was taken by helicopter to hospital in Siena, where he is on a ventilator in intensive care. Wishing Alex well in his recovery.1 point

I would not get hung up on engine parts supply as a consideration. Working in the parts Zetec, Duratec, Vauxhall Xe Crossflow ford all parts are available once you have the part numbers. The issue is so many parts operations now work on reg numbers and westfields are not on any data base for parts purpose. Steve Hole, the editor of TKC magazine has driven thousands of 7 type cars and he contends that the best is one with a smaller engine and power levels around 100-150bhp as on the road you will still be more than fast enough and the drive is more involving. My Vauxhall engined car you hardly have to change down on a run as the torque is more than needed on the road. On the track different story hence which is more important to you? Also do not be afraid your skills are lacking, one of the guy's I helped with getting his build started when I asked if he had a G clamp replied what is one of those? He went on to build a great car, which he quickly turned into a very high powered car that went onto be used in the sprint series. You will find many willing hands to help if you get stuck on anything which is wht this club is all about1 point

Hi Matt, If you haven't done it already get yourself a set of these: https://www.12voltplanet.co.uk/non-insulated-terminal-crimping-tool-standard-duty.html Am using these to do all the connectors on my car, work really well and very reasonable at £121 point

Do bear in mind that regardless of any individual discounts given they’re are a Club Sponsor, so are actively contributing to the Club and supporting us.1 point

I dint think we get a discount but he will charge you a realistic price for the work depending on exactly what you have done. No rolling road is cheap but he is good and can sort other electric issues as well as just the ECU/mapping1 point

Some cracking pictures there. Thanks for sharing. I think Durex is less controversial than the tobacco sponsorship and, nowadays, the gambling companies.1 point

The most popular bike engined cars are Hayabusa powered and Honda CBR1000RR. My CBR 1000 sprint car has paddle s and flat shifter and latest engine has in excess of 190bhp at rear wheels so its a bit quick. I used to have a 1300cc, 1400cc and 1548cc powered Hayabusa car which was road legal and it was excellent on track but a bit manic on the road. There is a Westfield out there for you so enjoy looking and researching.1 point

Hi Im new to westfield, ive got a bit of a backstory to how ive ended up joining the westfield team. My dad Don Homer, some of you may know built his westfield i believe in 1993-94. It was his pride and joy and i have many memories going to car shows with him and portmerion wales in it. Unfortunately my dad un-expectedly pass away 2nd April this year. My mom has passed his keys onto me to carry on his journey, i am so proud of my dad for what he has done and achieved in his life and i am honoured to now sit in the driving seat of his car. I look forward to attending future car shows/events and the monthly meets when they are up and running again. Hayley x1 point
