They say, KitCars are never finished (fighting with bearings play and pads thickness on first trackday this Year )4 points

They're all getting it wrong: Decide on the colour. Get an engine out of a field. Randomly place an order for X spec, and find out 12 years later that you ordered Y spec. Undo all the work from the last 12 years. Join WSCC and rebuild your car properly with the online help of a great bunch of like-minded people, and find that after a further year, you owe loads of people a beer. Welcome, Mike. I'm also just off a Shropshire B-Road, so I look forward to meeting you soon.4 points

Good spotting Russ. I didn’t expect anyone to get the Shamal, given there were only 6 sold in the UK. The Ghibli is a Ghibli Cup, one of 25 UK cars. You were close on the Porsche. It’s a 951 (or 944 Turbo, for those normal people not so familiar with Porsche internal model designations). Anyway, roll on next week when hopefully I’ll finally get to see and collect the Westfield I bought back in March, just as the lock-down was announced.3 points

I've really enjoyed the technical type articles in Westfield World of late. I would like to ask those responsible if we could have some more please? Maybe this could be a good place for suggestions. How about........ Cleaning techniques and products for Westfield Gelcoat bodywork or Repairing cracks and scratches to Gelcoat bodywork Anybody with experience in either of the above fancy having a go at writing an article?2 points

Yeah... dont tell me now you are my father, because that is going to be a bloddy drama.2 points

My wifes handbags collection cost more than most cars. It is strange a carbon fiber exhaust from SBD and a stainless work of art exhaust manifold cost half the price of a bag to put gloves in2 points
-
Just returned off the golf course to read all this stuff. Thank you. I have further to report that I now have full approval to proceed though it has cost me a new handbag. Still sounds like I can save the cost of the ARBs to compensate. I am planning on the base Duratec engine for now with no extras until I understand what is missing from the experience and I am sure I will get a deluge of advice from here as to what way to extract more power if I can control what I start with. I don't think I have driven a road car without driver aids this millenium. Still, I did have a Triumph Herald back as a student and I could catch the back end of that so this must be a breeze😁2 points

Need to work out what you need as that’s not a bad price, but that extra money is half a freewheel. I’ve been swayed and bought a new freewheel kit from @Kit Car Electronics Which has the relays built into the control box which is also simplifying the dash and helps with steering wheel release for getting in and out2 points

I started to look at converting my Mountain bike to electric... at the time I was committing 2-3 days by road bike and thought if I could E bike the other days my car could rest more. I even bought all I needed from China taking weeeeeeks to arrive. In the mean time I powder coated the frame and decided my old bike looked to good.. and rim brakes where not ideal... looked for something similar and found that actually the old bike was worth quite good money for its retro value. For similar quality and discs I was looking at quite a spend with the e parts I’d bought. UK law is a bit of a bum and as I’d gone 1000w I decided a home brew bike was likely to draw more attention to itself than a built one. There are a number of people building e bikes from Halfords bikes which look ok on eBay.. quickly as these things escalate I was looking at far more expensive bikes.. I found I could get something with a performance Bosch drive for £1500, the same as a lot of 3k plus bikes use. https://www.merlincycles.com/corratec-e-power-28-active-8-coaster-400w-bosch-hybrid-e-bike-160704.html. Mines similar, 500w, internal gear hub and out of stock. I justified the spend by telling the wife it would be good for her commute too.. anyway she loves it!! And I’ve hardly ridden it. The 15.5 mph top assisted speed is a bit pants but it can be tuned!!!!. Combined leg and battery I’ve done 28 on the flat. I’ve just got fitter And lighter And commute 50miles a day on my road bike...2 points

(sold) 2004 WESTFIELD SEIW FOR SALE I have been the proud owner of this internally, externally, and mechanically superb car for 5 years now, but it is time for me to sell. I have cherished this car, it is so much fun to drive, has never let me down and has never failed to put a massive smile on my face! The reluctant sale is due to a change in my current employment situation and medical reasons, the latter of which is meaning that I am not enjoying the Westfield experience as much as I used to. I realise that it is not the greatest time to sell (Covid-19) but I wanted to get it out there and start the ball rolling, although I am in no rush to sell and will not be breaking the car. I will be advertising the car on other sites in due course but as a fully paid member of 6 years wanted to get it up on the WSCC first. £14,000 ovno I will be more than happy to take serious prospective buyers out for passenger rides, adhering strictly to any current Covid-19 guidelines at the time of viewing. I have tried to list all the salient points about the car below but may have missed some bits. Please PM/contact me if you are interested/would like to see more images/have any questions. If you do only manage to get a 200 omex will upgrade it to a 600 for £240 inc postage for you. I know that because I have just had mine upgraded from them.1 point

Ignoring for the moment the benefits of a respray, this seems remarkably expensive. Anyone know why it is so costly? Is it some sort of 2-part special paint? Do they have to put the whole plane inside a big oven to cook it? Do they use a 1” brush?1 point

As a last intervention in the topic, I didn't want to suggest for a minute that your opinions get people killed on the street, im not that cynical nor I think you are that bad. My point was that some topics are controversial and sensitive enough that people gets killed on the streets because of them. Re Scott's @Captain Colonial topic... I was just following a bit the banter, but after recieving death threats and feeling how strong the dark side of the force is in him... I think Ill stay away from the danger and just blindly agree with him about everything. May the force be with you.1 point

If I was pm I’d want my plane to look cool as well. He needs more carbon fibre too.1 point

I agree with that too. BUT... until someone "normal" stands up to be counted we get what we get. But even then, many, if not most of us end up becoming a product of our environment to a greater or lesser degree. People of true character who can resist that sort of thing are rare indeed. I like Billy Connolly's line on politicians: The desire to be a politician should bar you for life from ever actually becoming one.. *Doffs cap*1 point

I dont know if some of the trailers You are considering is a "tilting" type, but if so then this is a convincing argument for this model . So much easier without all the hassle with trailer ramps! . Just drive in, trailer titls and voila! Additional benefit is lower center of gravity . And less paring space needed . something like this :1 point

-both have their use, depends of your target and your budget. Love them both. -13 if you are looking for dynamics and ride quality... nothing wrong with 15 anyway. -Swept wings were wrong even in the original seven... let alone in a sporty replica several decades later... (Sorry Dave...) -of course, yellow. Even the fact of questioning it is a massive offence. -are you good enough with a soldering iron? Will MS give you enough parameters to control? Then good!! -narrow chasis (if you fit). Track? Hummm... interesting question with no obvious answer. -rose joined if performance is your thing... otherwise std are stiff enough for the cars weight. -the lightest available... found wilwoods 4 pots front and golfs aluminium rears to be a good compromise. Allways wrapping solid disks. -anything but HiSpec... they are a nightmare to deal with. -none of them are true brake pads... so... whatever. All of the above topics will have an opinion, nobody will get killed on the streets because of them, none of them will rise an eyebrow to anyone to the point of feeling unconfortable... And above all they are relevant topics and the ones expected to be found here... I see I'm obviously quite alone with my opinion that this is not the place to discuss sensible topics that can tear relationships appart, loose appreciation to certain individuals with certain opinions and that get people killed on the streets... particularly because (from my perspective) benefits in nothing to the club's atmosphere... In my case, I stopped entering to stuff and nosense seeking for fun and random content while the brexit topic was headliner in first page all the time... because was (still is) a topic that could have changed my life and probably still will and i have enough of it on my day to day basis including news, media and social. I will from now do the same while this topic is around precisely because I do have enough of it on my day to day... Ps. You should never agree with Scott! He is not the chairman anymore and he is powerless, no need to worry about consequences.1 point

Those, other than being Westfield badged are standard Hi Spec Ultralight 4 pot calipers. They are usually no problem under virtually all 13” if used as the factory supplies them, with the normal factory “spec” front discs, for those calipers. The ones known as Hi Spec “Race” Calipers on the WSC site are a different caliper, if I remember correctly they’re a design use on some of the Radical race cars. In Westfield format, they’re a much bigger, chunkier design than the Ultralites, featuring an external fluid Link pipe between the two sides of the caliper, they also run on a vented disc, which I’m sure someone told me was larger diameter than the standard non-vented discs. These are where it gets tricky to make definitive statements, as they may well clear some 13” wheels, (just), but will clash with some designs.1 point

Thanks for responses guys, looking like The CT115 is the answer after a bit more research today. Thanks for offer @KugaWestie but will be getting a new one as we have a existing trailer to px against it 👍🏼.1 point

Thanks for the reply but I think it sort of misses the point. I would have thought that collectively the readers of WW could learn something useful and Westfield related without the need for having search the internet for such information. Whilst I myself find these sort of articles interesting to read I think they would benefit a wider audience in the WW magazine.1 point

You will soon discover a Westfield is so much more than a fantastic car, I have been to so many places, met many people of all ages and really enjoy driving and tinkering. Keep us updated and don’t be afraid of putting any questions to us! Andy1 point

I'll leave it until we get a bit closer to the day. Cant see it posing much of a problem tbh.1 point

just spoken with MSV if @Andrew sends an email (to the booking email adress as he set the group up) requesting the grid photo at luch time then they will see what they can do, if they are back at the point of offering it. if it was next week it was a firm no, but as we 10 weeks away there may be a posibility with further offering being re-introduced. would be a great picture of 10 or so westies on the grid1 point

I don't quite get why we allow this kind of topics in stuff or no-sense. We allow topics here where NO AGREEMENT IS EVER POSSIBLE... and the results are: We call to each other ridiculous, talk each other sarcastically and lacking respect, we end having to apologise to each other a few times because the written word sounds harsher than a light comment in the pub with a beer. The Brexit topic was the same... and so on. This is only worth to actually point how different to each other we are, and that probably most of us if it wasn't because we own a Westfield, we couldn't even sit in a table together for dinner. (And that is ok, and one of the beautiful things about clubs... that join people that have nothing to do together and puts them in the same playground to have fun together irrespectively of political opinions, religion, skin colour, education and wealth). Why do we allow this pointless discussions here, and then we shut and silence some much more productive ones related to cars, and competitions, for the sake of "keeping a good atmosphere " is beyond my understanding. Internet, Facebook Twitter, generalistic forums... everywhere you look at there is controversial topics discussed, no need to make an extension here... Couldn't we keep the stuff and nosense forum for the fun, nonsense stuff and the odd rant against a warranty claim?1 point

So my lockdown project was to tidy and make the garage look a little nicer. I fitted the floor when we moved in and quickly replaced the door with an insulated electric type to help my back! I also got a few of the Sealey units which are fantastic. The walls are now painted, there is plenty of light and lots of sockets. Next job will be to plaster the breeze block wall / box in the electrics and then plumb in some heating but I'll probably wait until the kids go back to school (if that ever happens!!!!!!! 😅) as I'll need some distraction free time for that!1 point

Hi Im new to westfield, ive got a bit of a backstory to how ive ended up joining the westfield team. My dad Don Homer, some of you may know built his westfield i believe in 1993-94. It was his pride and joy and i have many memories going to car shows with him and portmerion wales in it. Unfortunately my dad un-expectedly pass away 2nd April this year. My mom has passed his keys onto me to carry on his journey, i am so proud of my dad for what he has done and achieved in his life and i am honoured to now sit in the driving seat of his car. I look forward to attending future car shows/events and the monthly meets when they are up and running again. Hayley x1 point

Welcome, this is the friendliest car club, fact! Your car looks fantastic, really like the dark blue bodywork with dark wheels combo - if you have any questions regarding maintenance, troubleshooting or modifications these forums are the place to be.1 point

Welcome to what really is one of the friendliest clubs out there! Geoffery was just having a laugh - it’s a very common thing on here for us to post photos of our pride and joy and when someone is looking for a new car “it didn’t happen unless we see a photo” will often be posted! The member map might not work as you are a “free trial member” with limited privileges. We offer trial membership to allow you around a month to look around and post questions to see if this place is what you had expected. As a free trial member you can’t post wanted ads or for sale ads and your image uploads are somewhat paltry I’m afraid. If you decide to join us properly you will not only benefit from reduced insurance, large image storage and the aforementioned extra advertising privileges, but also a huge wealth of knowledge and an abundance of free help from the 1000’s of active members on here. 👍1 point

So here’s how it goes .... So pet, this week we have in Wales... wouldn’t it be a really nice place to take the Westy with us on the trailer - I mean it would be ideal for nipping to the shops in and we can leave the dog at the holiday let while we go. Oh and by the way I might have to pop up to a place near Tarporley on the Wednesday to make sure the engine is ok. “Sounds fab” says Julie1 point
