(sold) 2004 WESTFIELD SEIW FOR SALE I have been the proud owner of this internally, externally, and mechanically superb car for 5 years now, but it is time for me to sell. I have cherished this car, it is so much fun to drive, has never let me down and has never failed to put a massive smile on my face! The reluctant sale is due to a change in my current employment situation and medical reasons, the latter of which is meaning that I am not enjoying the Westfield experience as much as I used to. I realise that it is not the greatest time to sell (Covid-19) but I wanted to get it out there and start the ball rolling, although I am in no rush to sell and will not be breaking the car. I will be advertising the car on other sites in due course but as a fully paid member of 6 years wanted to get it up on the WSCC first. £14,000 ovno I will be more than happy to take serious prospective buyers out for passenger rides, adhering strictly to any current Covid-19 guidelines at the time of viewing. I have tried to list all the salient points about the car below but may have missed some bits. Please PM/contact me if you are interested/would like to see more images/have any questions. Thanks for the interest so far - please see details & more images below, Martin. @MikeJG Ask for the Stoneleigh discount. It's not your fault the show was cancelled and you weren't able to place your order there as you intended.... 😉 Are you building it?3 points

That will be a MEGA day. Hopefully everyone makes it. We should kind of agree a picture of all of us together... or agree on getting out on track at the same time when a quiet moment happens so we can have some nice footage. Aside of bliton weve never been that much sevens all together, let alone westfields!3 points

If that’s happening while you drive naked, it’s probably just your harnesses done up to tight!! Try slackening the crotch straps! 🤣3 points

Nice car and one of the best advert I’ve ever seen, good luck with it.3 points

Those things are a mith and never happen terry. Pure physics if you want to think a bit about it. But Ive actually blown tyres twice in a single axle trailer, one of them at over 150kph (probably why it blew) and aside of a weird vibration, i could barely notice it. I also lost a full wheel a few months ago in the ifor williams, and more the same... a bit of a vibration... Wen you lose or blow a tyre, the trailer tries to drag you back and heavily loads the towing hook pulling back and staying in a perfectly stable condition. It will never overtake you, nor pull you to a side... they are just as safe as a twin axle. Dont forget twin axles are much more sensible to the loads, alignments and much less easy to manoeuvre in general, they are heavier and unnicesary for a seven... Twin axles are not there for safety, are there for load capacity!! Everyone is indeed free to tow with whatever they want and whatever they FEEL safer... but twice the axles does not means twice the safety... it only means an aditional axle being dragged for no reason. I actually feel paranoid everytime i do tow a twin because if a tyre blow in the less loaded axle, you won't notice it and the mess will be even greater than stopping right away to sort the issue!!2 points

Just back from a great day at Donnington..really sunny til about half three..then thunder and lightning.. Car ran well..plenty of clear track..some meaty cars there too.. really great day and car ran like a dream.. well until I was out in the rain and lost the back end on the left hander after the old hairpin..thought I was going to be in the wall backwards..managed to avoid that and was aiming for the gravel on the other side..brakes weren't helping so gave it a bit of right foot and kept it on the grass and then back on track.. I think my wet jeans were from the rain!! Looking forward to next Monday and a repeat performance!2 points

just spoken with MSV if @Andrew sends an email (to the booking email adress as he set the group up) requesting the grid photo at luch time then they will see what they can do, if they are back at the point of offering it. if it was next week it was a firm no, but as we 10 weeks away there may be a posibility with further offering being re-introduced. would be a great picture of 10 or so westies on the grid2 points

If the title of a thread wasn’t indication enough, I think it would be far easier to put as asterisk in front of the topic title which would indicate possible controversy in a thread. This could be added by either the OP or a moderator (seeing as they nothing else to do). 😄 Alternatively, start a thread called “The Grumpy Old Man Thread” and only allow those things to be discussed in that thread. Last grumpy git left standing wins. 😄2 points

Absolutely, I think we set a far higher standard than FB or Twitter, often forthright but never rude. Always understanding that different opinions exist, different opinions often well founded, and can co-exist in a reasonably contented way. Jim2 points

If you take a look at earlier posts, you will see that Don and Blatman undertook a very civilised debate, both with courtesy and politeness whilst not always agreeing ................. far better than Twitterville ...... politeness combined with the excellent functions of the WSCC Boardroom where you have ways and means of choosing specifically what areas/threads you want to see or not see ................ the boardroom has multiple on/off buttons to suit each individuals needs each of us has a choice ........ Thanks to the WSCC Team2 points

Tis refreshing though chris....you have to admit that 😁. And of course hope you don't get a tug from the rozzers. (Excuse the pun😉)2 points

The combination of a deeper sidewall and sticky tyres can give a more gentle breakaway too. Back in the day I ran both 13's and 14's (185 wide) on my wee (rwd) KP Starlet-S tarmac sprint/rally car - the different circumferences were a poor mans diff change depending on the event. But back then, the sticky tyre choice in the smaller sizes was greater, now it's pretty much Toyo 888 or a couple of Nankangs (not to be sniffed at).2 points

Hi to you all. I retired last week and I seem to have half approval from herself that I can build a car, and so I have booked an appointment at Kingswinford with a view to sorting out what's required and if I have my arm twisted, signing on the dotted line. I went about a year ago to convince myself I was capable and wanted to. This time is serious. I am thinking of a Special Edition FW with some bits to make it work best if I do some track days. What must I do and what must I not do, or am I bonkers in the first place?1 point

You have to watch with the available space behind the wheel. Differing 13s have different clearance. I tried a compomotive cxr and it fitted over golf rear and AP fronts. Whereas a mini lite copy wouldn't fit over the golf without some angry grinder intervention. So its not always a clearcut case of 13s will or won't fit.1 point

The WWW + UTube is bursting with Gelcoat repairs -maintenance - polishing- how to's etc. but most of the stuff isn't specifically car related . In the Marine Industry however 99% of liesure craft power boats , yachts , sailing / rowing dinghies , you name it are made from the same stuff as your Westfield bodywork . I'm sure doing a search on "gel coat repair " will get you all the info you need Edit to add Google comes up with 17.5 million results1 point

Your asking the wrong people Jared! Though I agree with everything you say! Its the members that we need the technical articles from though. And that’s what can be hard to get hold of at times.1 point

Standard Hi-Spec or the Hi-Spec big brake kit. I understand the the standard Hi-Specs can be used with 13" wheels the big brakes can't1 point

Well - I've only gone and done it! The Westy is still for sale but I've now bought a mk1 MX-5 which has had a 3 litre Jag V6 installed courtesy of Rocketeer. It went in at the end of March and I got it home on Thursday - it's just amazing and under such difficult circumstances Rocketeer did an amazing job. The standard of design and workmanship is truly wonderful. Rocketeer's work is carried out in Hungerford by Bassett Down Balancing. I went down there with my trailer on the back of the VW, picked up the car and drove it to my brother who lives about 10 miles away. The drive there and then back to Hungerford on Thursday was truly memorable and will live with me for ever. There is a great winding road of about 5 miles down into Hungerford, the roof was down and the exhausts (courtesy of Cobalt) were just howling... Happy days!!1 point

yes read the form online, turn up, sign on and away you go, no static noise test just drive by. a little q to sign on due to the 2m rule, but other wise allgood. much better than normal to be honest, could still chat to people , just use common sense with SD.. Javelin are great. photos are free where as MSV charge stupid prices just for a digital image which i find really annoying, should be included or £ each not a £10 a pop.... canteen open but with barriers and SD measures. Fuel bowser open.. toilets open with alternate urinals closed off, doors left open or off so you just walk in.. very well thought out, IMO and did a great job of adhering to the new way of life..1 point

I don't quite get why we allow this kind of topics in stuff or no-sense. We allow topics here where NO AGREEMENT IS EVER POSSIBLE... and the results are: We call to each other ridiculous, talk each other sarcastically and lacking respect, we end having to apologise to each other a few times because the written word sounds harsher than a light comment in the pub with a beer. The Brexit topic was the same... and so on. This is only worth to actually point how different to each other we are, and that probably most of us if it wasn't because we own a Westfield, we couldn't even sit in a table together for dinner. (And that is ok, and one of the beautiful things about clubs... that join people that have nothing to do together and puts them in the same playground to have fun together irrespectively of political opinions, religion, skin colour, education and wealth). Why do we allow this pointless discussions here, and then we shut and silence some much more productive ones related to cars, and competitions, for the sake of "keeping a good atmosphere " is beyond my understanding. Internet, Facebook Twitter, generalistic forums... everywhere you look at there is controversial topics discussed, no need to make an extension here... Couldn't we keep the stuff and nosense forum for the fun, nonsense stuff and the odd rant against a warranty claim?1 point

So my lockdown project was to tidy and make the garage look a little nicer. I fitted the floor when we moved in and quickly replaced the door with an insulated electric type to help my back! I also got a few of the Sealey units which are fantastic. The walls are now painted, there is plenty of light and lots of sockets. Next job will be to plaster the breeze block wall / box in the electrics and then plumb in some heating but I'll probably wait until the kids go back to school (if that ever happens!!!!!!! 😅) as I'll need some distraction free time for that!1 point

Hi Im new to westfield, ive got a bit of a backstory to how ive ended up joining the westfield team. My dad Don Homer, some of you may know built his westfield i believe in 1993-94. It was his pride and joy and i have many memories going to car shows with him and portmerion wales in it. Unfortunately my dad un-expectedly pass away 2nd April this year. My mom has passed his keys onto me to carry on his journey, i am so proud of my dad for what he has done and achieved in his life and i am honoured to now sit in the driving seat of his car. I look forward to attending future car shows/events and the monthly meets when they are up and running again. Hayley x1 point

Ha ha remember that when I took my old man out for first trip round Tarvin/Waverton with no side screens for the full effect!; saw the green road just too late, end result was my BRG car was a bit more green , but dad had a cracking face pack up his LHS! 'Tis the countryside, proper natural!1 point

I'll show my age too - I started with The Who in 1967 (for 8 shillings; 40p)and have been to countless gigs since. Wife loves live music too and we were still often at gigs until it all got shut down. Much prefer the smaller, intimate halls to megastars in stadiums these days though. The last pre-lockdown gig we attended was Blue Rose Code in the Kitchen Garden Cafe in King's Heath; holds 60 people and was a wonderful night. Our gig ticket wall:1 point
