So my lockdown project was to tidy and make the garage look a little nicer. I fitted the floor when we moved in and quickly replaced the door with an insulated electric type to help my back! I also got a few of the Sealey units which are fantastic. The walls are now painted, there is plenty of light and lots of sockets. Next job will be to plaster the breeze block wall / box in the electrics and then plumb in some heating but I'll probably wait until the kids go back to school (if that ever happens!!!!!!! 😅) as I'll need some distraction free time for that!2 points

Jail time? Deserved. Two weeks (one week in reality)? A bit OTT IMHO. One week (three days in reality) would have been more sensible, and I say that only because he was completely drunk and I doubt he even saw the memorial. If he’d seen it, was sober and did it on the memorial deliberately, then I’d say six months. Fair play to his father for getting him to own up to it.2 points

Thanks @maurici much appreciated and I very, very much agree. Really can’t wait to get out in the Wench instead of finding improvements to do to it. If it’s not raining next weekend, I think getting her out for a blast would be good for me.2 points

Have just booked Jen and I into the Barony castle hotel for the Saturday night. If you book via OYO its on offer at £77 for a double room inc brkfst etc, with free cancellation up to 2 days before. (We may all have to have a social distance meal, but thats a small price to pay). Jen and I did Brad and Diane's tour last year - and its highly recommended - treat yourself!! Dave. Most Scotland hotels are opening from 15 July (provisional).2 points

Hi Im new to westfield, ive got a bit of a backstory to how ive ended up joining the westfield team. My dad Don Homer, some of you may know built his westfield i believe in 1993-94. It was his pride and joy and i have many memories going to car shows with him and portmerion wales in it. Unfortunately my dad un-expectedly pass away 2nd April this year. My mom has passed his keys onto me to carry on his journey, i am so proud of my dad for what he has done and achieved in his life and i am honoured to now sit in the driving seat of his car. I look forward to attending future car shows/events and the monthly meets when they are up and running again. Hayley x2 points

I just want to point out that video has been cut somewhat unfairly, the gentleman was being obstructive in the way he approached the officers, I don't think what they did was correct or appropriate at all, but they're doing a difficult job and the media are just trying to spin this thing into a frenzy. It's the same with our own Police force...... What the BBC used in a report versus the full photograph. All they're doing is creating outrage, bringing more protesters, more violence and now we have our war veterans heading to London to protect our national monuments (which is a really bad idea), it's going to be a blood bath and the media are going to do what they always do and selectively report on it to create yet more outrage, shaming our veterans as "far right racist thugs", and using photo's of football hooligans and/or editing photos as shown above. In America it's all about votes in the upcoming presidential elections, but here it seems to serve no real purpose, aside from some nasty child grooming stuff which is passing under the radar. I'm really sorry, i'm just angry about how people on both sides are being played off each other by the media outlets.2 points

I'm trawling Youtube with my headphones on.... I'm a real fan of live music and I because am musically challenged (I couldn't even play the triangle at school) I envy musicians that make this sort of pleasing noise, and it's awesome because it's live! Clicky link thingy......1 point

And its quite reasonably priced! This is going to be the "running in" track day for the new engine hopefully....I'll be sensible and limit it to 8200.1 point

2 jerry cans and a full tank should be enough, but there is fuel available to buy on site at 3 points through the day if necessary Looking forward to this, we need a full Westy train 😁1 point

I agree. It was obvious that he wasn't wantonly peeing on anything bar the wall. His father sums it up by saying "he's a plonker!" Two weeks in prison when others get suspended sentences for far worse transgressions - or 'no further action due to lack of evidence' makes a mockery of the judicial system IMO.1 point
-
Yes and no. Having read the story it said he was there 'to protect statues but didn't know which ones' which just shouts (to me) he was there for a ruck. If everyone who got pished and had a pee in the street was imprisoned for 2 weeks we better get building some prisons. I guess the prison sentence was for a combination of his reason for being there and getting photographed doing the act. 16 pints the night/morning before wont help his bladder control either. Contender for a Darwin award me thinks.1 point

No not too harsh, it is just that other sentencing is far too soft so it makes it look that way. In Bristol there has been no attempt to punish anyone who pulled over Colstons statue, one which was erected to celebrate his philanthropic work not his links to slavery. There is enough evidence but unfortunately the council claim it is not their statue so will not file a complaint but which was worse mob rule or one man? Clearly this man was a drunken idiot who had no real idea why he was there, maybe this might teach him there are consequences1 point

Well. Little steps forward. About that... do it when you feel right. I dont think you will be any safer 1st of july than june 25th nor in any more danger than july the 4th. But you can't just live grounded the whole life. At that point, i think the most important topic is that you actually feel safe and you have peace of mind to slowly re-start mundane activities like getting p******** @ the pub and driving the wench when you are in the mood, rather than strictly following the "rules"... (sorry, my rebel Spanish personality is talking here). But i really think the "how you feel about all" is way more important than "what they say about that"... Keep the good mood. Whenever it happens... all this **** must finish.1 point

I see that @Captain Colonial keeps his bitter sense of humour:) How r you doing? Easing things a little bit or still home grounded? Can't wait till @Andy Banks - Chairman checks this!!1 point

I'll show my age too - I started with The Who in 1967 (for 8 shillings; 40p)and have been to countless gigs since. Wife loves live music too and we were still often at gigs until it all got shut down. Much prefer the smaller, intimate halls to megastars in stadiums these days though. The last pre-lockdown gig we attended was Blue Rose Code in the Kitchen Garden Cafe in King's Heath; holds 60 people and was a wonderful night. Our gig ticket wall:1 point

...and the problem with this example is several fold - one, where is the BBC report that uses that photo?: two, does it use that description, ie. peaceful protesters vs aggressive police or not?: and three, at what stage of the protest was this photo taken? Was it when police attacked protesters or vice versa? Which side started it, if either? Pictures may well be worth a thousand words, but if you can’t trust the pictures, you can’t trust the words, either. It’s a snapshot of an instant. Newspapers in this country are so different in general from those in the States. Most of the papers in the States (apart from rags like the NY Post or National Enquirer) tend to work hard to stick to the facts and as a result are so dull they’d cure insomnia. Papers in this country are generally slightly or appallingly biased one way or the other and pander towards people’s political persuasions, frequently at the expense of truth, just to get circulation numbers up. The problems occur when people cease questioning whether or not what they read, see and hear is true. Newspapers always have an agenda, and that agenda is profit at all costs, including truth and never admitting when they’re wrong. If you really want to see the lengths and depths to which they’ll stoop and how hypocritical they are, pick up a copy of Private Eye and go to the Street of Shame section. You’ll be horrified. I have no problem with people buying whatever paper they like. The problem I have is when they believe it unconditionally and it clouds their judgement. I have a couple of good friends who buy a particular squalid tabloid on a daily basis. They’re the type who complain about companies or famous people not paying their taxes, yet are happy to give their money to a biased, bigoted newspaper owned by a non-dom tax exile and can’t see the irony. When I go to their home, they scuttle and scurry and hide the newspaper away so I can’t see it, as if it were Readers Wives (which is probably more truthful). One time they told me they only bought it for the crossword. I replied that it was a coincidence because when I was very young, free, single, horny and stupid, I only went to strip clubs for the music. My point is this - it’s perfectly okay to be outraged about something bad as long as it’s true. Don’t be outraged because some media organisation who shares your beliefs simply to get your cash tells you to be outraged. If the truth means that much to you, it’s your duty to question the sources used, no matter how much you trust them, and get the whole truth. Don’t give your money to organisations to reinforce your viewpoint. To quote Yes, Prime Minster: Hacker: Don't tell me about the press. I know exactly who reads the papers. The Daily Mirror is read by people who think they run the country; The Guardian is read by people who think they ought to run the country; The Times is read by the people who actually do run the country; the Daily Mail is read by the wives of the people who run the country; the Financial Times is read by people who own the country; the Morning Star is read by people who think the country ought to be run by another country, and the Daily Telegraph is read by people who think it is. Sir Humphrey: Prime Minister, what about the people who read The Sun? Bernard: Sun readers don't care who runs the country, as long as she's got big tits.1 point

Agree, good to hear different points of view. Still don’t quite understand the link between a brutal murder in the USA and the taking down of Fawlty Towers. We’ve discussed things a little in our extended family as we have two mixed race grand daughters (nice shade of cappuccino.) The general feeling is what a mess, with a real risk that the original issue is being hijacked for other purposes.1 point

I'm defo in the 'mine's a tip too' club - though I know where most of the stuff is most of the time. Wish I had painted the walls white when we moved in, too much s**t to move now! It's not all mine though, the left side is commandeered by the missus' car, because (she) "don't do windscreen scraping" - I don't argue because I like being fed. My property back in NZ was a perfect man-land - the 'house' was a self-build barn with three car garage plus workshop downstairs, and a studio flat upstairs, all on 2.7 acres high up on a range that on a clear day you could see two snow-capped volcanoes 150 miles away. If you've wondered where my profile name comes from...1 point
