Just rounded off a great weekend with a 60 miler this evening once the roads had quietened down. Must have been a good one as the windscreen was suitably smothered in dead insects.... Stopped just before turnaround to take some quick phone pics. Taken just before the descent and then run back up Zig Zag hill by the way! Happy blatting to all, Mart.3 points

Dawn shake-down drive for me tomorrow and the anticipation is delicious. Anyone else with one sleep to go before they’re back in their Westfield?2 points

Why would you buy mud in a pot when there are fields full of it? I'll get me coat1 point

I agree. Hes nuttier than squirrel **** but its amazing what he and his companies have achieved. Like so many pioneers I guess he'll be appreciated more in a hundred years time than in the present day which is a shame.1 point

I couldn't possibly state on a public forum that I may have taken a 40 mile scenic route to the petrol station around the corner... that would be illegal! So I'll wait patiently until tomorrow when the car is out of SORN1 point

@corsechris It is young to be fair Although he's really into his vehicles in general and has enjoyed watching old Saturn V footage previously when he was asking about space rockets so thought it was worth a try, but that's why I didn't push it. The ISS docking was silky smooth, SpaceX are looking pretty pro at this all now. Elon is a very mixed character but I do admire how driven he is to dream big and say "we're going to do this" and then through solid science, engineering, time, effort and investment it happens. I remember thinking SpaceX sounded like a pipe dream in the early 2000's and look at them now, Tesla is similar (my ride in a Model S 90D is still up there as 'wow' moment for me - massively impressed).1 point

There will be a thread in the autumn requesting photos for the annual club calendar and all the details will be in that.1 point

It's a far cry from Soyuz and Apollo era kit isn't it. Then again, it was bound to look a lot like a Tesla S in there wasn't it! I wonder if they included any 'easter eggs' in the OS?? Half expect Elon to have insisted on it having the fart app installed.1 point

@Andy M Scott Manley did a good analysis (educated gueeswork!) on the Starship SN4 fail. He reckons it was a ground systems failure. weather looking more likely now, keep the boy awake!! It’ll be his Apollo 11 memory. He’s lucky to be young now as I think he’ll see more in the next 50 years than we have since Apollo.1 point

looks like a decent car, that had some money spent on it, so should be worth the price, although I would recommend a drive of something similar the SEIGHT is a different drive, the power cannot always be used all at once, and is maybe not to everyone's taste..... Nothing wrong with an older version as its cheaper tax, ive had four engines in mine from a 3.5, carb, efi and now 4.6.....there's much more driveability to be hard from injection, as I just hated the carb version.....the efi will run from cold in all conditions, without problems, but maybe an ungrade for you if you buy it. Be prepared for being some kind of road outcast......as my neighbours hate mine, as its noisy, even when driven slow, they think your speeding.....car alarms go off and windows shake......but who cares, the adrenalin I get from driving it is amazing.....definite worth it...... good luck purchasing. regards scott1 point

Sorry, I didn't type that very clearly, but you've only quoted half of the paragraph, so have quoted me out of context there. The bit I have issue with is the trip back into work before going to Durham. Once he was in contact with his wife, who was at this point a suspected case, he was required to isolate himself. Returning to work was breaking the rules. I have no issue with the drive to Durham itself.1 point

Thanks everyone for all the comments. Buttercups nosecone is split and there is damage to the paintwork. The splitter is also damaged. I was able to drive home. I am not sure what else as there are some "wet marks" on the garage floor that I noticed today so I am going to have a further investigate tomorrow.0 points
