I've got to agree, that is terrible! There's some much better misheard lyrics here:5 points

I love mine (don't we all though). Effortless driving as @AndrewBClarke says although no way will one long range tank last me a whole day (2 or 3 on a road trip) however I wouldn't swap. Just love the sound track. I'd try and get injection over carbs and check the chassis for known problems. Nice simple engine to work on with upgrades available. 😁4 points

Hi @AndrewBClarke you've clearly forgotten how much time is spent in the Peaks, kicking tyres, eating pie, cake and drinking tea.3 points

Effortless driving as @AndrewBClarke says although no way will one long range tank last me a whole day (2 or 3 on a road trip) however I wouldn't swap. @kenton depends on how you drive it! I can fill up here (mid Lincolnshire), drive to the Peak District meeting point, do a trip eating our way around the Peaks and then home on one tank. Mind you I don’t like running it dry or taking a risk so normally fill up enroute. Also ‘only’ 3.5ltr! Nice engine photo so here’s mine! Rover 3.5ltr with carbs. 20093 points

The country and world is in crisis situation and some people including the media are more interested in playing politics. It truly saddens me. I hope one night they wake up and realise what was the point. If Cummings goes it won't be the end, they will move onto the next hate item . Its pathetic. I can't add any more to the thread2 points

My statements are not a political siding. I feel Jeremy Corbyn was given a very bad time by the press and I've tried to be fair to all sides throughout recent years. The press arnt capable of holding anyone to account that's not their intention - drama to sell news they need to find or create instead. It's not acceptable at this stage in a national crisis to create further hysteria. I try to make balanced views irrespective of who is in power and I do my best to give support to those leaders even if I don't agree with policy. I now limit my exposure to the news and separate myself from the ranty people. I just try and form a reasonable balanced view by separating the incident from political position. How many could consider their view of DC and his actions if they took their own political leaning from the situation ? I feel DC was an idiot having has explained what happened. But I wasnt in his situation and we only had a 20 minute snapshot of what allegedly happened. Quite frankly it doesn't bother me. His actions made no difference to the spread of an already spread virus but he made errors in his reasoning for some of the actions. In my family we have been on standby for an elderly relative. Vulnerable and living alone. A long way away and I'm designated to go and collect should he be affected. I have checked with a policeman friend and there are no issues with the trip whatsoever. He said explain what you are doing and be reasonable and not cocky. If anyone else tried to ask me why or if it was necessary to make a 450 mile trip they would get told to f**k off on short order.2 points

@Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Secretary was ‘upgrading’ his S2000 so it had been off road for a while when I offered to let him drive my V8 for a Peak District trip. Let’s just say he didn’t take long to answer....2 points

A clearly identifying shot of individual Mirror and/or Guardian photographers in that scrum, together with public demands for their sacking with their chain of command right up to the Board, ought to sharpen people's attention somewhat! They were not allowing a member of the public his due respect and safety by wilfully invading his 2 metre radius personal space.2 points

Hi. Yes, V8 models had chassis with a bigger transmission tunnel to accommodate the bigger gearboxes the Rover engines came with, compared to the normal four cylinder Ford engine gearboxes. It also uses the pendant style pedal box, not floor mounted pedals. Once upon a time, the SEiGHT chassis had more bracing, I think, too, but to be honest, so many of the chassis now have the extra bracing, I’m not sure if the V8 is actually different anymore. SEiGHT kits used to be only available with the paneled, wired, plumbed chassis, as the factory was paranoid about the extra power in a chassis not done well. As Andrew said, the long range tank is normal, as the standard one empties too fast with a V8, also due to lack of room under the bonnet, the battery was usually at the back of most SEiGHTs, uniquely, amongst other Westfields. People love SEiGHTs with Cobra style side pipes, but actually, the underslung exhaust, exiting at the rear generally perform as slightly better than standard side pipes. The soundtrack of a good V8 Westfield is insane, and deeply addictive!2 points

I took the Westy to the great guys at Bogg Brothers in North Yorkshire on Saturday for a rolling road set up! What a fantastic place and a great all round set up they've got there. Well worth the 200 mile round trip - the Weber's are now set up perfectly after a few issues previously with fouling plugs.2 points

A fellow member of Burton Car Club put the shout out for members to do a suprise socially distanced driveby for a friend of his who was celebrating his 50th today and is sadly dying of cancer. His family has arranged for him to be sat in his front garden at 2pm. Amazingly almost 20 cars turned up (Allegro, Princess, Humber Sceptre, Mustang, Escort RS Turbo, 850 Mini, TR7, TR6, MEV Rocket etc). Hopefully we cheered him up with the revving and beeping 😂 PS Everybody was fantastically well behaved when we met up. The people you see close to each other are family members (father and son, or husband and wife etc) so no rules broken 👍2 points

I've seen some pictures on face ache of Jeff's Caterham. Looks like a right weapon1 point

That car looks like it's had some serious time, money and skill spent on it, I'd say the intire interior, with the exception of the seats and possibly some of the carpeting, is a bespoke, one off, including the dashboard, (it's not a Westfield Contour Dash), obviously photos can be deceptive, but from the pictures, it looks a well planned and nicely executed interior, with plenty of nice, thoughtful touches, and a cohesive integrated design, from either a professional, with a lot of skill and experiance, or an owner with a real eye for it and a lot of natural talent. Once upon a time, I'd have only looked at fuel injected V8's on an ecu; then I got to regularly hear Andrew's carb fed car, (and drive it), as big a fan of modern injection etc as I am, if going V8, I neeeeeeeeeeeeed Andrew's carb fed soundtrack, gives you goosebumps at 50 metres, like nothing else!1 point

Cummings' story hurts his and Boris' credibility, a lot, but there is a long queue of people and organisations trading in their credibility for clicks and points: A race to the bottom, Fed up with them all tbh, fed up watching dogs fight while there is important stuff to be focussing on, the S*n , Express etc. are the lowest of the low, the Guardian being, at the very least, duplicitous, and some from the Labour party, well I don't know how they can keep a straight face.1 point

done. lady said there is 4 places left but she has had a few cancellations so probably nearer 10 left.1 point

Same here. Watch the briefings, listen to the first few questions, the second there's a hint if the usual dog-with-a-bone bulls*** from the press ‘luminaries’ and it goes off. I’m struggling to recall a single worthwhile question any of these professional types have come up with during this whole business. And by professional, I mean they get paid to do it. I do not mean to imply any level of competence on their part.1 point

Problem is the press have very little else to occupy their little minds and so pick up on sheer rubbish, like you as soon as DC is mentioned I turn off. Definitely all this will end Conservative reign and it will be a difficult task for anyone else to continue, back to rationing and Nationalization. If were really in the mire maybe that nice Chinese government will take us over😭1 point

The yellow/blue combos I’ve seen in the flesh have never looked quite right to my eyes, the yellow, working much better with some other colour combinations. I had Electric Blue bodywork colour matched last year, they’ve done a superb job, even on but joins between new and old panels, you wouldn’t guess there was five years age difference between them.1 point

Be aware that hoods and frames have evolved over the years, and the dimensions have changed Early hoods tend to not fit later frames, as the later frames hold the hood a little higher in some spots, lifting early hoods clear of the tub., towards the back of the door openings. I had to cut n shut a later style frame to make it work with an earlier design hood.1 point

Managed to get out early in the Eleven and drove Yeovil - West Bay - Abbotsbury - Dorchester - Yeovil; the bay at Weymouth was full of cruise liners (not the best photo). Enjoyable drive on a road that I wouldn't normally have gone anywhere near at mid-morning on a sunny Bank Holiday - quite depressing when I thought about how quiet it was, the cruise liners and parking next to the SEIW that's still SORN'd as June rapidly approaches.1 point

Very neat! Are those colour coded bungees hanging on the garage door? in which case, you're right, you've got it bad!1 point

Just back from an 80 odd mile run out.....roads lovely and quiet early on and a chance to test the soft cut on the rev limiter on most of the changes lol... Here she is back on the drive having a well deserved rest... Result is I can spend the rest of the day grinning from ear to ear Jack Nicholson style😁1 point

Well Blatters it must be different down there. It's not like that in Cheshire. I've had no issue with the police and have spoken to a few and they are fine with it. It's a general effect and seems to be working fine. Anyway thought this might be of humour . Copied from elsewhere If WW2 started today. - Why weren't you stockpiling Merlin engines? - The air raid shelter hasn't been used in a month, the government was clearly wasting money by building it. - "Your country needs you" is ambiguous, I expect to be told exactly what to do. - Why isn't the government specifically considering the impact of the Blitz on minorities? - Just because we've broken off diplomatic relations with Germany is no reason we can't buy army boots from them. We should have stayed in the Third Reich. - You can't make me carry that gas mask, it's against my human rights. - You can't make me carry that gas mask, I'm vegan and the straps are made from leather. - I don't want to wear your issued uniform, my homemade one from old flowery bed sheets is much better. - The air raid siren is frightening my pets, stop it. - The prime minister's spokesman said some numbers wrong, so the whole government effort to fight this war is clearly utterly incompetent. - Why are you restricting my freedom, just because there's a war on? - Why didn't you restrict my freedom sooner, I needed to be told exactly which air raids not to go out in. Simply saying "if bombs are falling from the sky, get to somewhere safe" was nowhere near enough information. - I don't care if the high street has been bombed out, it's my right to go and have a hair cut. - Everything would have been so much better if we'd left Neville Chamberlain in charge, Churchill is a buffoon with a rubbish haircut who loves the sound of his own voice too much.1 point
