Never seen that before but very good ,nice find , Unlike my car I managed to built my garage ,it’s timber framed and has 50mm celotex on the walls and roof then skinned in 18 mm ply .Its heated so Lovely and warm in winter and nice and cool in summer ,I painted it and it looked ok ,but the kids bought me some chequered flags for a couple of quid each and stapled them to the walls .They love it and I’m getting used to it 🙄5 points

A fellow member of Burton Car Club put the shout out for members to do a suprise socially distanced driveby for a friend of his who was celebrating his 50th today and is sadly dying of cancer. His family has arranged for him to be sat in his front garden at 2pm. Amazingly almost 20 cars turned up (Allegro, Princess, Humber Sceptre, Mustang, Escort RS Turbo, 850 Mini, TR7, TR6, MEV Rocket etc). Hopefully we cheered him up with the revving and beeping 😂 PS Everybody was fantastically well behaved when we met up. The people you see close to each other are family members (father and son, or husband and wife etc) so no rules broken 👍5 points

I took the Westy to the great guys at Bogg Brothers in North Yorkshire on Saturday for a rolling road set up! What a fantastic place and a great all round set up they've got there. Well worth the 200 mile round trip - the Weber's are now set up perfectly after a few issues previously with fouling plugs.4 points

My garage was built in 2005, before I'd ever thought of owning a Westfield. Walls, painted and plastic floor tiles done. It replaced this: You could just about get a car in it, but nothing else! It's prime function was to house this (my 2nd Impreza, a UK300). Replaced in 2007 with my Spec C T20. Fast forward to 2016, Impreza sold to fund Westie build Even had two Westie's in during my build: Ready for IVA A more recent view, with the Wife's car in front3 points

Very jealous of some of you guys with doubles or even bigger!, but to be fair the single is big enough for the little Westy. Like @Robin (Red Spider) - Yorkshire AO dollies definitely help make best use of space (mine are a bit more DIY though!)... I was considering getting 2 more but found if needs be I can move the back of the car with brute force if needed 😁3 points

Disorganised, hot in summer and cold in winter, draughty, spidery, drippy and old, but that's enough about me. This is my garage and above all, my car building space! I could have a good clearout and dump some clutter, but I might need it someday. Had the garage over 15 years now and it's still in fairly good condition (apart from a few cobwebs). Says a lot for Compton quality.2 points

Strangely, though I couldn't do this year anyway, it kind of makes me want to definately do next year, and would be nice if clubs really got behind the event and gave it a triumphant return!2 points

Hi Everyone, one of those "with a heavy heart" emails. Thanks to a back that's not getting better, a house purchase (including double garage.....thanks Covid...) and just generally not having enough time I had decided to sell my very wonderful black Wide Body. Car spec and history, from the very large file: Kit purchased back in 2003, all the Westfield invoices are present A very slow build.... Then documentation from Anderson Racing Engines from 2013 DVLA paperwork to the builder (dated 2017) asking/confirming chassis details and certificate of newness (it's on a 17 plate...) Twin DCOEs Nodiz for ignition Tuned in 2019 - with 166bhp Red top with all the lovely torque Sierra 5 speed gearbox Unmarked Compotive wheels and near-new tyres And 1200 miles on the odometer Things that let it down - but many would want to do to suit themselves: The interior had red carpets and Blue Peter StickBackPlastic (admit, you laughed if you are a certain age....) on the tunnel sides, it had been put on with carpet adhesive (that didn't work) - so I ripped it all out - it's very aluminium in there... Two very slim GRP seats - I am 6 5 and my son 6 1 - I sold the very nice factory seats on here - as I needed to be all the way down and aaaaaallll the way back - budget to get these fitted where you want them - or bolt up your favourite comfy seats if you have the clearance That's it. (takes LARGE glug of beer) - she's got to go. Been a hoot - but she needs to be used more and see more miles this summer. Factor in a trailer home unless you are 6 5 and match my leg length. Based just south of Stratford Upon Avon and very happy to talk/WhatsApp/Video as needed during these wonderful times. Please don't make me put it on eBay - she deserves a home with a Club Member who knows exactly what they are buying. 17 plate, 1200 miles, powder coated chassis, fully refurbed Red Top, electronic ignition, nice wheels and tyres, no rot.....go on, you know you want to. I am asking a very reasonable £9500. Ben NOW SOLD THANKS!2 points

Since I cannot go out as much as I would like and the garden is as good as it's going to get, the loft is tidy and I have nothing else to sell on Ebay I though I would resurrect an old hobby. A lot of you will have seen the new build which is rather obscure as its a 1/6th scale all metal tank. So like a lot of people my age use to build models when they were younger and stopped when they discovered beer and women, later to regret at least one of them. Iv'e made a few over the last few months and though as I'm bored I though I would bore you lot wit them, Sorry in advance.🙂 I also though about what Geoffrey said about sharing how I do it, its no secret as they are fairly standard modelling techniques, So Why not go large with the King Tiger. I'm not going to bore you with how to trim the parts off the sprue or how to apply glue, I guess if you have a Wessie you are partly adept with some basic knowledge of following instructions and using the odd tool.(Stop sniggering at the back) So after basic assembly leaving the tracks off and the odd small detail parts you get this. No filler needed which I was happy about to to be fair Tamiya models are pretty good. For this one even though it will be painted Dunklegelb (dark yellow)I tried something that I have never done before and used black primer. Followed by white primer on the centres of the panels. Finally a top coat of the Dunklegelb. Its hard to make out in the picture but it modulates the colour so it doesn't look like one flat shade. It adds quite a nice depth to the finish. Now for the fun bit of spraying the camo. Not sure why there is a dark band on the barrel, it's not quite like that in the flesh.😕 That's as far as Iv'e got at the moment as I'm working on it now but here one I made earlier.....Always wanted to say that.. OK I know that's two but pop quiz time.... what are they? I know they're tanks but what sort.1 point

Stripped the spark plug thread in the head, bodged it, lasted some track days but now permanently grumpy on that cylinder and very very rusty. Picked Lionel 2 up for and swapping the bits over. Very little rust, too clean for a track build really but does require a bit engine oil leak to be fixed... Nothing major with the westie - engine mounts need fabricating, dry sump needs plumbing, plug it all in then need to get it mapped...oh and the diff needs to go back in.1 point

Thanks Dave. Yep, sorry but its cancelled. From the organisers.. We promised you an update before the end of May… and it is with a heavy heart that we bring you news that the 2020 Silverstone Classic will not be going ahead. Following the latest Government advice, we have reached the inevitable conclusion that we will need to cancel this year’s event. Given the current circumstances and the outlook on timescales, a postponed event - which was our original back-up plan - in a way that enables us to run the Classic in the manner that you know and love isn’t a feasible option. Our priority at all times is the safety and wellbeing of those attending our events as well as our own team and we know that you’ll understand why this step has been necessary. Our heartfelt thanks must go to all of you for your patience throughout this period of uncertainty. As an independent events company passionate about what we do, we are proud to have developed the Silverstone Classic into an internationally renowned historic motorsport festival enjoyed across generations of car enthusiasts, families, racing drivers, and petrolheads. In times of difficulty, communities tend to come together and we’re incredibly grateful for your continued support. It means a lot. All of you are what makes the event the success that it is and we hope to celebrate our 30th anniversary with you next year instead. 2020 tickets Anyone who has a ticket will have the option to roll their tickets over to the 2021 event or request a full refund. There are a number of measures we need to put in place first, but we will be back in touch with all ticket buyers in June with details of the next steps. In light of the current situation, we have a reduced team who are dealing with a high number of enquiries, so please do bear with us.1 point

When we go to Le Mans we stay about an hour south in a lovely French town called Saumur. It has a huge tank museum including a few examples that have been shot at showing the thickness of the armour plating. Well worth a visit if ever in that part of France.1 point

Hey Jeff, guess where I live? But my front door works, and the LAW has always allowed me (and everyone else) to go out as much as I want and as often as I want, so there's no problem. Yes the guidelines served a purpose. People confused them with law and obeyed. But they also said that when you go out you must maintain social distancing, which I do. So why does going out more than once change anything if one stays away from people? I actually enjoy staying away from people and there are plenty of folks on here who will tell you they enjoy staying away from me...1 point

Great to hear. I always knew she was the level headed one in the family Don't get me started (again) on the quality of journalism at the moment. They should all be ashamed of themselves. That's why I'm sticking to Acts of Parliament for my facts1 point

Just back from an 80 odd mile run out.....roads lovely and quiet early on and a chance to test the soft cut on the rev limiter on most of the changes lol... Here she is back on the drive having a well deserved rest... Result is I can spend the rest of the day grinning from ear to ear Jack Nicholson style😁1 point

Ok also with rolling onto next year. cheers Jim. Stay safe out there .....1 point

I am okay with rolling it on. It is a valid point that even locally for bread, butcher meat we are sourcing a lot more from small local businesses to support them and whatever “new” arrangement they have put in place rather than just going to the supermarket. Even down to drinking the local brew although that is no hardship.😀1 point

Bit of an update, finally made the call to A-Plan, left it to the last day of the previous policy of course. Was given a very reasonable quote so got one of the fleet covered, not sure which vehicle is up next but looking forward to seeing what they can do.1 point

Hi Carlie, it's nice to hear the personal approach. I'll be on the phone tomorrow morning to insure my third vehicle with you (2 regular, 1 Westie).1 point
