  3. Since I cannot go out as much as I would like and the garden is as good as it's going to get, the loft is tidy and I have nothing else to sell on Ebay I though I would resurrect an old hobby. A lot of you will have seen the new build which is rather obscure as its a 1/6th scale all metal tank. So like a lot of people my age use to build models when they were younger and stopped when they discovered beer and women, later to regret at least one of them. Iv'e made a few over the last few months and though as I'm bored I though I would bore you lot wit them, Sorry in advance.🙂 I also though about what Geoffrey said about sharing how I do it, its no secret as they are fairly standard modelling techniques, So Why not go large with the King Tiger. I'm not going to bore you with how to trim the parts off the sprue or how to apply glue, I guess if you have a Wessie you are partly adept with some basic knowledge of following instructions and using the odd tool.(Stop sniggering at the back) So after basic assembly leaving the tracks off and the odd small detail parts you get this. No filler needed which I was happy about to to be fair Tamiya models are pretty good. For this one even though it will be painted Dunklegelb (dark yellow)I tried something that I have never done before and used black primer. Followed by white primer on the centres of the panels. Finally a top coat of the Dunklegelb. Its hard to make out in the picture but it modulates the colour so it doesn't look like one flat shade. It adds quite a nice depth to the finish. Now for the fun bit of spraying the camo. Not sure why there is a dark band on the barrel, it's not quite like that in the flesh.😕 That's as far as Iv'e got at the moment as I'm working on it now but here one I made earlier.....Always wanted to say that.. OK I know that's two but pop quiz time.... what are they? I know they're tanks but what sort.

  5. I have to admit to being a little bit OCD - I like neatness and consistency, so I've spent quite a bit of time getting my garage "just right" (except that it never will be - there will always be something I could do to improve it...). It was actually just a carport, but I built up side walls between the carport supports and stuck a door on the end. I even went to town a bit with my power tool storage (I'm wondering if I have a bit of a thing for yellow & black....)

  8. A fellow member of Burton Car Club put the shout out for members to do a suprise socially distanced driveby for a friend of his who was celebrating his 50th today and is sadly dying of cancer. His family has arranged for him to be sat in his front garden at 2pm. Amazingly almost 20 cars turned up (Allegro, Princess, Humber Sceptre, Mustang, Escort RS Turbo, 850 Mini, TR7, TR6, MEV Rocket etc). Hopefully we cheered him up with the revving and beeping 😂 PS Everybody was fantastically well behaved when we met up. The people you see close to each other are family members (father and son, or husband and wife etc) so no rules broken 👍

  14. I took the Westy to the great guys at Bogg Brothers in North Yorkshire on Saturday for a rolling road set up! What a fantastic place and a great all round set up they've got there. Well worth the 200 mile round trip - the Weber's are now set up perfectly after a few issues previously with fouling plugs.

  15. That's exactly the problem. The tidier you make it, someone else will put a non car focused item in it's place such as gardening tools/products! 🤔

  18. I think the main concern about DC is his poor judgement rather than what he actually did, and whether it was illegal or not. He must have known how it would look, and he must also have known there was no way he could do anything even vaguely questionable without the media, opposition parties and many from his own party that he’s p******** off from jumping on it.....and causing problems for the govt. Any arguments about looking after his family etc are frankly moot, it’s all about appearances and he has to know that. I think the baying hounds should just do one personally, but that's as naive as expecting our leaders to hold themselves to higher standards. I particularly like Nicola Sturgeons stance on this, she seems to have forgotten that she stood behind her medical advisor in remarkably similar circumstances, but now she criticises Boris for doing the same thing. At least her advisor saved her the agony and fell on her sword.

  19. Managed to get out early in the Eleven and drove Yeovil - West Bay - Abbotsbury - Dorchester - Yeovil; the bay at Weymouth was full of cruise liners (not the best photo). Enjoyable drive on a road that I wouldn't normally have gone anywhere near at mid-morning on a sunny Bank Holiday - quite depressing when I thought about how quiet it was, the cruise liners and parking next to the SEIW that's still SORN'd as June rapidly approaches.

  20. This is mine after a lock down clear out, quick paint and some concrete dustproofer/hardener on the floor. Much better than the dark dust bowl it was beforehand, but the plan is to eventually get something like ecotile down and some LED strip lights. My daily us usually occupying the side I'm taking the photo from.

  26. And the whole 'i drove a short distance to test if I could drive and ended up 30 miles away and then sat by a river' line is the one where he loses all credibility with me. You don't trial if your fit to drive or not on a public road and not for 30 mins each way. And surely if your 'trialling your driving' should you take along the wife and child for the ride? I'm surprised non of the journo's roasted him on this point. But then again with the standard of questions being put forward at any of the press conferences maybe im not so surprised. He wont go as boris is completely stuffed without him.

  27. Very surprised too. However as the man who's allegedly pulling the strings behind the scenes in creating these guidelines. He surely has to realise that despite the fact he may well have been doing the right thing in his mind, it looks dreadful. It just looks bad in every way to the public who are supposed to be following the rules he has helped create. Its a simple case of do as I say not as I do. And to the public who have made sacrifices to follow guidelines its a massive kick in the teeth. I do kind of agree with the sentiment of what he did. But I don't agree with how he's behaved and portrayed himself as a right arrogant git.

  28. Hes still not done himself any favours. He could have just come out explained what he did and apologised if people thought he was taking the wee. But he's still stubbornly refusing to admit he's made an error of judgement. His arrogance is the key factor in getting everyone's back up and why they are hounding him.

  29. What p***es me off is the selfish actions of those who don’t follow the guidelines endangers lives and inconveniences everyone who does. The 1.8m of us in the extremely vulnerable group, who initially were told to stay at home and not leave their property and stay 3m away from even their loved ones and spouses for 12 weeks, had it extended to 14 weeks (30 June) because it wasn’t getting under control. I was supposed to automatically be on a priority list for supermarket home deliveries - never happened. Any time someone like DC responds to having the virus by doing something like driving 250 miles away just invites an extension to that date - it’s ridiculous that he did so, whatever the excuse. I’m sitting here, glorious weather, Westfield ready to go, and twiddling my thumbs because I’m being responsible to others and the NHS when others who are busy telling us what to do are not doing it themselves and it really boils my p***.

  33. A little girl was leaning into a lion's cage. Suddenly, the lion grabs her by the collar of her jacket and tries to pull her inside to slaughter her, all under the eyes of her screaming parents. A biker jumps off his Harley, runs to the cage and hits the lion square on the nose with a powerful punch. Whimpering from the pain, the lion jumps back, letting go of the girl, and the biker brings the girl to her terrified parents, who thank him endlessly. A BBC reporter, Laura Kuenssberg, has watched the whole event. Laura, addressing the Harley rider says, "Sir, this was the most gallant and bravest thing I've seen a man do in my whole life.” The Harley rider replies, "Why, it was nothing, really. The lion was behind bars. I just saw this little kid in danger, and acted as I felt right.” Miss Kuenssberg "Well, I'll make sure this won't go unnoticed. I'm a BBC journalist, you know, and tomorrow's news will run this story. So, what do you do for a living, and what political affiliation do you have?” The biker replies "I'm a British Army veteran, a Conservative and I voted for Brexit”. Laura Keunssberg leaves the scene. The following morning the biker turns on BBC News to see if it indeed brings news of his actions. BBC Headline: RIGHT WING UK VETERAN ASSAULTS AFRICAN IMMIGRANT & STEALS HIS LUNCH. And THAT pretty much sums up journalism approach to the news these days

  34. Pistonheads? Largely a bunch of M sport badged 320D driving prats, who wouldn't know the right end of a screwdriver, i've given up on that website, the only car related thing they're "enthusiasts" about is getting a new one every 2 years when their last deal runs out. The video in question was linked from Youtube I believe, and if traced was probably being driven by the owners unrelated bruncle, or worse it was a customers car from a dealership going on a "test drive". The best we can hope is that the Police can trace it's route and find CCTV of the driver.

  35. To avoid this problem I use the 4 point tip system. 1. Unwanted item arrives in garage, the clock is started. 2. After 1 week of non-movement the unwanted item is moved to an inconvenient location in garage. 3. After 2 weeks if the unwanted item is still untouched it moved to a hidden location in the garage. 4. After 1 month of being hidden and not claimed, it gets a free trip to the tip. The item has now become a deniable.

  40. Problem will be when the FCO 'dont travel' advice is lifted. This will then allow the holiday Co's to operate. So if travel is allowed in say August but Joe doesn't want to travel Joe won't get a refund as its his choice not to travel. Not by his insurance, Abta or credit card. How this would work with the nonsensical quarantine I dont know. Its going to be a fine balance for the holiday companies to allow people to change their bookings if they don't want to travel or just saying tough we're operating its your choice. Though these companies can't afford to pee off too many people as they will need the repeat custom in future.
