I feel very proud that Complete Kit Car magazine are doing a two issue feature on my car. Part 1 is in the June 2020 issue which will be on sale Friday 22nd May 2020. Currently with free delivery from their website. Part 2 was a photoshoot which was done today while socially distancing which is normal for me when you meet a stranger in a car park! 😂11 points

Hi all. I am a returning member after having been away for a long time (no, not banged up inside). Finally got around to moving my car to my own garage after it has been mothballed for years. It is a 1989 SEi Narrow body with Ford 1600 X-Flow on twin 40's that I bought from Terry Nightingale back in 1997. It isn't running as it won't start after being laid up for so long. Not had a chance to find out why yet, but I suspect it will be down to stale old fuel and will need draining, cleaning etc. No doubt I will be seeking advice and help as I find more and more issues with a 30 year old car. Anybody had any experience bringing one back to life after so long laid up? Thanks4 points

I always tax it for the full 12 months, paid in full, then make sure to SORN as near the end of a month as possible. Works out slightly cheaper that way. Jokes on me though, I always pay for it, but as the car belongs to and is registered to Vickie, she gets the refund cheque.2 points

Have to say I’m loving the 13” wheels and non-SDV rear setup. Car is great on rack or road without any need to worry about disconnecting ARBs and softening suspension to suit. New lambda readout helped isolate off throttle issues and cars running great. loving it.1 point

Got plenty of time for Daytuner, on more than one occasion I've took him motors running like a two stroke diesel, he's waved his magic wand and made them sweet, highly recommended.1 point

If you look back in history far enough it's been what the EU has been about from day 1. Only no-one likes to talk about it much and our media who rush around and jump up and down about all sorts never seem to mention this angle. But slowly & surely this is the direction, with every country sleepwalking into the end result. Shame but Power corrupts, and absolute power, corrupts absolutely1 point

Don't forget that you might need an MoT before you tax it. Mine's been on SORN for couple of years and I intend to book an MoT so I can drive it to the test station, then tax it, or not, depending on the results. It is always insured. Some while back I decided to stop using in on the road as it is potentially lethal, and to track-day it only. But since my son, whose encouragement drives my spannering, relocated to Sydney and married an Australian lass, the drive has been subsumed by domestic matters. I should like to run it again so I hope to MoT it and tax it for at least a month or two.1 point

@Lincolnshire Westie that looks awesome mate....same age as mine and the best engine for a narrow too IMHO... looks in good nick so shouldn't be too much of a problem. Carbs maybe a bit gummed up, but possibly get some new fuel in, check the dizzy....rotor arm and points clean up, take the fuel one off at the carbs and pump some fresh fuel through into a container, reconnect and hopefully fire her into life. A set of new plugs makes all the difference too. check fuel lines for perishing too by the way. Mart.1 point

According to one source the EU seem to be following the Chinese who have a similar penalty for flag burning. Oh the irony...1 point

I’ve got a stake in a flag making company, so please do keep burning flags, we need the business. 😛1 point

Also, gives you the option via direct debit of monthly, six monthly of yearly payments. Taxed mine today, so lost half of May, BUT if weather is nice for rest of month and roads still a bit quieter, I reckon a better deal than waiting to June and possibly lose two weeks to rain when you could have been driving now...........as always, you pay your money and take your pick! No pics but just swapped over from laid up Insurance to normal cover - painless through A Plan this morning btw, and then took it off sorn....still smiling after two separate blats and 50 odd miles... Reason for post - was amazed at how much pressure the tyres had lost - glad I checked them before putting the hammer down! Mart.1 point

I don’t drive mine on the road any more, but the AR1s meant I kept hurting my snowflake knees on track!1 point

Im sure with a little though you can rig up a slider mechanism, electrically controlled, perhaps with memory settings....1 point

@skymike I know some people don’t mind, with work numbers etc, but do please keep in mind, this is an open forum you’re posting your phone number in, that will be searched/archived by Google and all the other search engines and made available to all...1 point

Hi All, Today the committee have agreed that the Blyton Sprint Weekend and Track Day will be cancelled this year. We have set ourselves a series of requirements and dependencies ranging from numbers of attendees, guidance from Government and MSUK and critically the safety and comfort of all who attend, be that to compete, play on track or support us (medics, recovery, marshalls, etc.). It's has been a sad but relatively easy decision to make and I trust you agree and understand why. We understand that some tracks are opening for business so whilst the WSCC will not at this time organise or run Blyton, there is nothing to stop you, at your own risk and as you desire, booking onto a track day with Blyton or any of the track day organisers. Of course a number of us will have already booked and paid for the track day and @John Williams - Blyton Organiser will be along shortly with news on what you can do if you require a refund. Thanks again for your continued support, understanding and patience.0 points
