Thank you so much. Your pictures and stories of blats makes me think how lucky I am to give a bit of pleasure to someone. The best part of your cars is that no 2 are the same, they are what you each want. That’s fantastic thank you once again5 points

I work for Initial Washroom Solutions - we supply a range of sanitisers for washrooms and premises, and since the covid situation we now also sell personal sanitisers (500ml, 175, 100, 60, 50). https://www.initial.co.uk/hand-care/hand-sanitiser-dispensers/2 points

The first thing you could have done with the seized screws was to apply heat to each screw head in turn , (I use my 50 yr old Weller soldering gun) , any soldering iron will do just that lower wattage jobs take longer to heat the screw up , the process is just the same as for steel bolts rusted in metal but you find with wood the screws practically fall out , you might try the same method if you can drill a suitable hole then use an "easy out" to get the broken screws out . Otherwise its drill them out but then the hole will be too big for a suitable sized screw ( head to big for the countersink ) unless you fill the hole and re drill for the correct size screw . You will struggle to get dispensers and refills anywhere at the moment, I know as I've tried. We've had to buy bottles from wherever we can and station them on desks, workstations etc.1 point

We had to buy sanitizer from the local cider farm who are making it to supply the NHS. As we also supply hospitals World wide they agreed to sell some to us but it expensive £2500 for 80 ltrs and it smells of cider. If you get stuck PM me and I'll send you there details1 point

Have any of you had a read of the "Health Protection (Coronavirus, Restrictions) (England) Regulations 2020"? Given that there's not much to do, and I like a legal document(!) I had a look... Section 6 deals with the stuff we are most likely to want to do which is go out. Yes we must have a "reasonable excuse" which is laid out in section 6 Paragraph 1. Whilst the message from the briefings has been "you may go out once a day" this is ADVICE not LAW. The law sets out no such restriction (Para 6 section 2b). Likewise shopping for "essential items". There is no prescribed list of essential items so we can buy what we want, whenever we want. Furthermore there is no restriction on how far we can drive to do any of these things. Section M is interesting. It states you may go out "to avoid injury or illness or to escape a risk of harm." Going out for a drive, on your own, with no intention of getting out of the car could be to avoid the mental illness of being cooped up for weeks BUT if you're pulled you may get a ticket and to fight it means a day in court... http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2020/350/regulation/6 The police of course are busy enforcing the ADVICE safe in the knowledge that 99.999999% of people won't argue or challenge any penalty in court, where it should be challenged! That's not to say the ADVICE isn't good advice. The less we expose ourselves to other people, the less chance there is for transmission which is stating the blinkin' obvious. Many people are hanging on to the "most people will experience no, or mild symptoms" but there is no way to know. And it is the majority of asymptomatic people we have to be careful about as they are all potential "Typhoid Mary's", especially if they are of the arrogant type who decide to ignore the advice because they don't believe it's real (came across one guy yesterday who believed it either wasn't real or it was real and is a population control exercise. He was failing to observe social distancing in a shop until I rounded on him, but that's another story...) or because they are of the "we have the right to freedom" type. Morons... So, if people want to go for a drive there is nothing in LAW to stop you as long as you are driving for a proscribed reason. Driving 200 miles for a loaf of bread is not prohibited in LAW. It may be against the spirit of the law but that's not enforceable. But the Police believe otherwise and few have the stomach to actually stand up for their rights when they are genuinely impinged. The law is not a belief system... Now, the following video is made by someone who it could be said has a possible axe to grind with the cops...! OK, fine. But that doesn't make him wrong about the legal issues he raises. If you want to avoid the somewhat anti-police sentiment skip to 2:50 and listen carefully to what he has to say. The chart in the video as about 4 mins is this one:1 point

Exactly. There are many recipients out there in urgent need. We aren't amongst them, thankfully. At this point, I'm not sure it would sit well, potentially diverting focus from those others.1 point

Hi Hemsley You could try to tighten the screw first before you try to unscrew it , at the same time shock it by using a posi screwdriver and turning it and hitting it at the same time, If they snap of take the door off with the hinges still on the door then you can try to get the screws out of the frame i.e. drill them out ,punch them sideways . Then you can plug the hole with a piece of timber make a little peg and hammer it in then chisel it of flush, You could use gold coloured steel screws ,brass screw will be slotted head, the hinges are fitted the right way round on your doors ,dont ask me why thats the way I was told 30 odd years ago it's got three knuckles on the door and two on the frame. P.s never tried the heating the screw idea not saying it won't work, never seen a joiner with a soldering iron in his bag😉 Tony1 point

Looking at your hinges the holes are staggered differently on each side. If so, why not remove the screws from the door and frame, rotate hinge and re fit.1 point

At the moment we don't fit the basic criteria to request a grant or a loan as we are not at financial risk and our Speed Series is not affected other than we cant start. We do not have any outstanding outlay for event organisation, T Shirts etc as far as I am aware.1 point

Bear in mind the possible need to remove the arches one day. I used silicone to attach my protectors and although it was a right swine to remove, it was at least removable!1 point

Take the politics out of the debate cos until then it will not make any sense. As far as I can see we have minimal options. Containment or mitigation. Containment. No one goes anywhere and we sit and wait and hope the virus will die out. Full on lockdown. No one knows if this will work or when the virus was introduced. Mitigation. Really difficult subject to rationally discuss as it's the you are going to get exposed. In a controlled manner and the nhs can cope. Currently we are in that position. I can't read anymore the UK should have done this or that or locked the borders down. The population wouldn't go for containment. Its was too late. Just move on from the petty politics. Its wearing thin and not proving anything.1 point

As threatened, ours is taxed and back on the road. I see no reason not to use it for the once a week shopping trip - might as well enjoy the brief trip out in some some small way. Not as if queueing to get into Tesco only to find half the stuff you want isn’t on the shelves creates much joy.1 point

Hence my son's interest. There has been a considerable relaxing of death cert procedure I've been led to believe during this pandemic, but this is certainly not right in this particular case. Mart.1 point

Figures are all skewed regarding deaths and we may never know the true numbers in the uk.... My son is a journalist and has picked up on a localish story regarding an elderly man of 93 who has just unfortunately died in a care home. He was not ill and the care home had assumed he had died of old age. They are furious that his death certificate states coved 19 as the cause of death. When they queried it with the doctor, he had said that he had 'probably' contracted it...... If similar calls are being made all over the country, how on earth are any quality decisions for the best of the country ever going to be made. This is still being seen by some as an opportunity to point score against the Government in a lot of cases imho.. Mart.1 point

Welcome, I've spent the last (almost) 2 years tidying up and rebuilding a 99 car myself, it's amazing what you find when you start digging....but equally satisfying when find a problem and fix a problem! Good work so far, keep it up 👍1 point
